Static’s Birthday

Yesterday, I sold a couple of bugs, a spinning wheel that Hornsby gave me, and an unwanted D.I.Y. recipe. The total just happened to come out to 2,022 bells. 😛

Timmy: And done! I can buy these from you for a total of 2,022 bells. Sound good?

It reminded me of the grab bags sold on Sale Day in the GameCube version of Animal Crossing. The price (in bells, obviously) is always the same as the current year.

Today, C.J. hosted the summer fishing tournament. I gave it a try, but I didn’t do very well. I only caught four fish, and I was stuck on a potential 5th one that refused to take the bait. 😛 Even with the bonus points, my score was a paltry six points.

C.J.: SPLASH! That's 6 points!
He couldn’t even look at me. 😋

But on the bright side, one of the four I caught was an arowana.

Marina summed up my pathetic attempt in just a few words. 😛

Marina: In 2022... Fish aren't biting.

A bit of trivia for you: Of the core Animal Crossing series, New Horizons is the only game that has a fishing tournament in July. 🐟

Today is Static’s birthday, so I crafted him a tree’s bounty lamp (made with acorns). I then headed over to his party, where he and Ketchup were gleefully strutting around. 😂

Static celebrates his birthday with Ketchup.

I gave him the lamp, and he said it was one of the best gifts he’s ever received. Hopefully he doesn’t try to eat the acorns off of it.

Static: Well, I'll zap you, I didn't expect a tree's bounty lamp!

Later on in the evening, I remembered that I didn’t redeem my tournament points for a prize. But when I spoke to C.J. again, he reminded me that I didn’t sell my fish yet either! I had forgotten all about that! So I sold my four fish for 21,450 bells, and then I redeemed 10 of my 12 points for a fishing-rod stand.

K.K. Slider has the night off, but he should be back tomorrow night.

See you all next time!

Magma Vacuum

Yesterday, Static was talking about robot vacuums. He was wondering what would happen if you had a dirt floor: Would the robot just keep going until it hits magma? 😂

Static: The robot's job is to vacuum all the dirt, right? So on a dirt floor, does it just keep goin' until it hits magma?
That would have to be one powerful vacuum!

Today, I made a brief visit to Beth’s town of Cassia. Some of you may remember Beth from my New Leaf blog, but this was our first time playing New Horizons together. Her town was beautiful, and I really liked her post office. Excellent use of the simple panels!

The post office in Cassia.

And this starry room in her house was just stunning. I love this wallpaper!

A starry bedroom.

Back in Forest, the Nooklings were paying 107 bells for turnips. I sold my 30 turnips for 3,210 bells. Not the biggest haul of course, but they were free, so I can’t complain.

I tried speaking to Hornsby, who was sticking his face into a retro fan (not a bad idea for this time of year). However, I was mindlessly pressing the button and I didn’t realize that I wasn’t actually talking to Hornsby: I was buying the fan by mistake!

Tommy: Excellent purchase! ...purchase!

For some reason, the game wouldn’t let me speak to Hornsby while he was there. Even though I went out of my way to make sure I was facing Hornsby, and not the fan or a Nookling, it kept asking me if I wanted to buy the fan!

A few special characters were in town tonight: I got a large star fragment from Celeste, some running tights from Wisp, and I bought a simple small dresser from Jolly Redd. (He didn’t have the art I need.)

I recently posted a video of my Happy Home Paradise designs, so check them out if you’d like!

See you all next time!

Birthday Season

Yesterday, Agent S sent me a letter thanking me for attending her birthday party. She even sent me her photo along with the letter! (I already had one, but it’s still a very nice gesture.)

When I visited Marina, she was reading a book while sitting on the toilet! The worst part is that she said she’s basically in love with her toilet! 😲

Marina: Is it weird to love an object? Because I'm basically in love with my tankless toilet...
Actually that is weird, Marina. Not to mention, you’re flushing. I mean blushing.

Wisp was in town last night, and he gave me a metal-and-wood table after I returned his spirits to him.

Today is Apollo’s birthday, so I made sure to attend his birthday party. I gave him a suspicious cauldron that I recently crafted, after finding the recipe on Lottie’s Island. Apollo said it was one of the best gifts he ever got, even though he was probably lying. 😛

Apollo: Well, on a cliff, I didn't expect a suspicious cauldron!

Sasha was also at the party, and he told me about his 6th birthday party. He said a clown went into his house and never came out. 😛

Sasha: That's when the birthday clown went in our house...and never came out!

It’s definitely birthday season in Forest. In addition to Apollo’s birthday today, Static’s birthday is coming up on July 9th, and Agent S and Marina recently celebrated as well. That’s four villager birthdays in a two-week span!

Four villager birthdays in a short span.

Update: Also, Ketchup has a birthday on July 27th, making five villager birthdays (half my town) in a 31-day span! Add in Bones on August 4th, and that’s six villager birthdays in a six-week span! I have a town full of summer babies.

Faith the koala was camping at the campsite today. Not only is she one one of the original GameCube islanders, but she’s also really cute. One of my favorite koalas, in fact. However, I did not ask her to move in.

Faith, at the campsite: Hey, do you live out here? You do! What's up, temporary-neighbor!

I remembered to make my usual Monday visit to the hospital to get 30 you-know-whats from you-know-who. I also told Dr. Octavian that I felt dizzy, and he gave me some eye gauze.

Back in town, Label was there, wanting to see me in a goth outfit. I changed into my skeleton outfit (and I added some impish wings), and Label loved the ghastly look. 😛

Label: Amazing! I've never seen an outfit so perfectly coordinated!
Yes you have. You say that almost every time. 😛

She gave me some Labelle shorts, and she’ll be sending me some tailors tickets in the mail as well.
