Hospital Opens

On Sunday morning, I bought some turnips from Daisy Mae. She was selling them for 108 bells apiece, and I bought 1,700 of them.

Rover sent me his briefcase in the mail for completing the May Day maze. But that’s the same reward he gave me the first time I completed it 2020.

Bones was talking about things that are fun to ride, and he seems to prefer boat rides. He particularly likes the sea shamblies shanties you can sing. 😛

Bones: Boats are fun to ride! You can sing sea shamblies like Boat boat, lookit my boat, maaaaaaan!

He also likes screaming “Look out! There’s pirates!” …And that’s why he’s not allowed to ride on boats any more. 😂 I’ve seen lazy villagers’ dialogue about why they’re not allowed on planes, but I didn’t realize there was a similar story about boats.

On Sunday night, Wisp gave me a stack of clothes for recovering his spirits.

On Harv’s Island, I bought a graceful painting from Jolly Redd. The woman in the painting was facing the opposite direction as the fake one I previously bought…so I was sure that this one was real. But as it turns out, this one was fake too! Some works of art have more than one fake version, so this threw me for a not-so-graceful loop.

Yesterday, I went to work a shift at Paradise Planning. Lottie told me it was time to make another facility: a hospital!

The hospital exterior.

I started off by designing the waiting room. I added plenty of seating, a magazine rack, a water cooler, and a small play area for any sick kids that find themselves here.

Next up, I had to design an examination room. I put in an exam table, medicine chest, sink, EKG machine, stadiometer, lab chair, and other appropriate furniture. Here’s the final result:

I was able to choose the staff, and I chose Octavian to be the doctor. That’s mainly because he looks a bit like Dr. Zoidberg from Futurama. 😛 Skye is my receptionist.

Lottie told me to choose a name for the hospital, and I decided to call it Quack Doctors.

Today, Saharah was in town. I bought some mysterious wallpaper and flooring from her. They turned out to be a kisses wall and field flooring.

I went out to Lottie’s island to shop (not to work). I’ve been using Wardell’s catalog to order some safety railings that I needed. Another good thing about his catalog is that his five-item-per-day limit is separate from Nook’s limit. So you can order a total of ten items per day if you use both catalogs. 👍

I saw Cephalobot out on the beach there, and he said he was going to do something worth blogging about. Just don’t go swimming unless you wear some rust-screen! 😉

Cephalobot: I just KNOW I was brought here for a reason. I'm gonna do something worth blogging about!

See you all next time!

May Day Maze 2022

Yesterday, I found Ketchup wearing my “Where’s Waldo?” hat. She looks so cute in it! And she called me her bestie. 😊

Ketchup: Oh, Jeff! He there, my fabulous bestie!

Flick was in town yesterday, and I grabbed some bugs out of storage for him. He paid me 94k for the twelve bugs (mostly tarantulas and peacock butterflies).

Flick: Ahem. Can I offer you, say, 94,350 bells for the bunch of them?

Today, the Nooklings were only paying 45 bells per turnip, so I had to sell at a big loss again. The prices never went up a single time all week! Every day, the price was lower than the last! I’ve had such bad luck with turnips lately.

K.K. Slider was in town tonight, and he performed K.K. Aria. He had a decent crowd tonight: It was me, Sasha, Bones, Static, and Marina. We all enjoyed the show.

The new May Day Maze is available now through May 7th, so I flew out there tonight.

The May Day maze for 2022.

After doing May Day mazes the last two years, I knew what to expect. I navigated my way through the maze, smashing rocks, hopping over holes, picking up materials, crafting an axe to cut down trees, and so on. I didn’t have too much trouble with it, and I found all nine bell vouchers. I found Rover at the end, and he mentioned that he normally travels by train (a reference to the GameCube game and also New Leaf).

Rover: It's nice to take a plane every once in a while. I'm used to traveling by train... Ridin' the rails, as they say.

He said he’ll be sending me a note in the mail.

If you played New Leaf, you probably know that you could view your town history by sitting at your town tree. The feature isn’t in New Horizons, but I posted a video today showing what it might look like. So if you’d like to see a look back at my island history, take a look:

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Static Likes Feet

On Tuesday, Beardo told me not to treat his house as if it were my grandma’s house. He actually encouraged me to knock things over!

Beardo: Don't treat my place like your grandma's house. Put your feet up and knock things over.
Sure thing! I’d knock your entire house over, if I could! I’m helpful like that.

I shot down a balloon present yesterday and it contained some ketchup fried rice. That sounds disgusting! Besides, I couldn’t treat poor little Ketchup like that! 😉

Wisp was in town, and I gathered up his spirits in exchange for a bicycle helmet.

I visited Static today, and he was going on and on about boots, of all things. He particularly liked the fact that they smell like “musty old feet.” That’s disgusting, Static. 🤢

Static: They last for 100 years and they smell like musty old feet if you treat 'em right. What's not to love?
You’re veering away from relatability again.

Louie was sick, so I gave him some medicine. In return, he gave me an athletic jacket.

While visiting another town, I saw that the Nooklings were paying 153 bells for turnips. But since it was almost closing time, I didn’t have time to go back and get all of my turnips. But I did sell the two stacks (200 turnips) that I had with me for 30,600 bells. When I have turnips to sell, I like to carry a stack or two with me to serve as a reminder that I need to keep checking prices. 😛

Timmy: And done! I can buy these from you for a total of 30,600 bells. Sound good?

I worked a bit more on my obstacle course, and I realized that I’m going to need more room. So I’m going to have to remove most of Donkey Kong Country. But perhaps I’ll rebuild it at some point in the future.

So far, I haven’t had any further overheating issues with my Switch in the past few days. But I have been trying to limit myself to 30-40 minute sessions at max. If I do play a longer session, I may try turning on an actual fan and blowing it at my Switch as I play. 😛

See you all next time!
