Pitting Beardo

On Tuesday, I found a lost item on the ground and I returned it to Louie. He thanked me by giving me a fast-food cap. He wondered if he was being too generous. 😛

Louie: I hope I'm not being too generous! I'm giving you a fast-food cap.
Yeah, no.

Yesterday, I ran down Apple Lane right as Beardo was about to go in his house. But I ran over to block his path, and I sat down right in front of his door. 😂 Once he gave up and walked away, I pushed him into a pitfall.

Welcome to Forest.

Today, I got to see the inside of Beardo’s house. It reminded me of the mayor’s office in New Leaf.

Over by Resident Services, Louie was being kinda creepy. It looked like he was touching the shoulder of Agent S as she sat on a bench. When I got closer, it looked like he was breathing heavily in her ear. Stop acting weird, Louie!

A few other quick notes about the happenings of the past few days:

  • Dodo Airlines sent me a DAL pilot jacket in the mail on Monday.
  • Wisp gave me some denim cutoffs on Tuesday.
  • Redd’s ship was in town Tuesday, but he didn’t have any art I needed.
  • Gullivarrr was on the beach today, and I recovered his communicator for him.

Look for a new New Horizons Moments video coming up tomorrow!

Bunny Day, Beardo

Today is Bunny Day, and Sasha said that he loved the event. He said he’s looking forward to the day when he can thank an egg-laying bunny for making it such a special day. He clearly hasn’t met Zipper yet, or he wouldn’t feel that way.

Sasha: I love Bunny Day. Someday I'm gonna meet an egg-laying bunny and thank 'em for making today so special.
Don’t look behind you!

I went over to speak to that evil creature, and Zipper told me to bring him one egg of each kind. He gave me ten stone eggs to get me started.

Zipper: Boingity boing! Hey there, skipper! It's me...Zipper!

When I returned with eggs, he first gave me a Bunny Day wand for making all of his recipes (in previous years). He then gave me a Bunny Day basket in exchange for six eggs. After that, he just offered to trade one type of egg for another. Fortunately, there was nothing else I really needed to do with him, so I felt free from any further Bunny Day obligations. 😛

But Zipper wasn’t the only frightening creature in town today: Beardo has now moved in. I went inside to greet him, and he told me something very interesting: He came from Logan’s town of Moonscar!

Beardo: Well, good to meet you! I'm Beardo, a fresh new face from Moonscar.

Logan told me that Beardo actually moved out of his town nearly two years ago (May 2020), so he’s been in limbo for quite a while!

Shortly after 9:30 tonight, I dressed up in an egg outfit and headed over to Logan’s town for his Easter party. To thank Logan for giving me Beardo, I may have pooped on his beach. 😛

'Pooping' on Logan's beach.

Timo, Nami, Nicky, and Matthew were also at the party. Logan had an area that he made to look like the town tree from New Leaf, so we took a group photo there.

Sitting in front of Logan's town tree.

But Logan didn’t just make a town tree, he pretty much recreated all of Main Street from New Leaf! Here’s a look at Kicks, next to Able Sisters.

He even had Digby at the entrance to the Happy Home Showcase.

After we checked out all of Main Street, Logan had us hang out in the museum while he hid eggs for an Easter egg hunt. Once he was done, we went out to search for eggs.

Hunting for Easter eggs.

I found 26 eggs, but Nicky found 39. 😛 For Round 2, Nami hid the eggs while the rest of us made egg puns in the museum. Once the round started, I only found 11 eggs and I lost the game. 😛 Logan found the most.

After that, we had a brief net fight and then we attacked/annoyed Zipper.

Several clips from tonight will make their way into the next Wi-Fi Moments video.

See you all next time!

Worse Than Rizzo

With Admiral leaving on Thursday, I scanned the amiibo card of my favorite ostrich Rio on Thursday night. For some reason, it takes three camping visits to invite an amiibo villager into town in New Horizons instead of just one like in New Leaf. Even in New Horizons, it only takes one visit if it’s a regular camper…so this three-visit requirement for amiibo villagers makes no sense to me.

When Rio arrived at the campsite, she asked me to craft a wooden box for her. I did it immediately, and she gave me a do-rag in return.

Rio: Ohmigosh, wait... Did you make the wooden box I asked for, li'l chick?

Yesterday (Friday), I invited Rio to the campsite again. This time, she asked me to craft a birdhouse for her. I made it for her, and she gave me a tiny party cap. She said after one more visit, she may be ready to move in.

Rio: I've got a lot going on back home, but I might be up for a move if I come visit again, li'l chick!

Ketchup surprised me by wearing my block pattern; that’s the square that I use for my sumo ring!

Ketchup: Hey, check it out... That's right! It's block! Designed...by YOU!

It isn’t really meant for clothing, but I apparently displayed it at Able Sisters at some point in the past…and forgot about it.

I then surprised Ketchup by giving her some French fries! 😛 🍟

Ketchup: Some french fries!

Today, my plan to adopt Rio hit a snag. A major snag. A big, hairy, ugly, infuriating snag.

Warning: Rant Incoming

Let me first say that this 3-time camping requirement is incredibly stupid. If the moving system was more like New Leaf, where the 10th spot won’t auto-fill with a random animal, I could understand it more. But this game typically only gives you one day to find a 10th villager. And you can’t have an amiibo camper visit three days in a one-day span! It’s asinine!

The fact that I’m getting Beardo is just adding insult to injury. He’s one of the ugliest villagers in the game, and I really, really dislike him. I would rather have Rizzo back than have Beardo, and I’m being 100% serious about that.

I know some of you may be thinking I should just scan Rio again to force Beardo out after one day in town. But in a lot of ways, I’m kind of a purist, and I hate the idea of forcing a villager out…especially when it’s done with an amiibo card (as opposed to a random camper).

So I guess I’ll just make the most of it. Forest will have a new villain for the first time since Rizzo left, and I’ll be sure to use some pitfall seeds on him. I’ll try to have fun with it. And eventually, Rio will move in.

K.K. Slider was in town tonight. I told him I was feeling a little blue, and he performed K.K. Waltz for me, Louie, and Agent S.

I’ll be back with another entry tomorrow.
