Duck in the Rain

On Saturday, Hornsby sent me a warm painting in the mail. It was authentic, but I didn’t need it for the museum.

It was Louie’s birthday, and I dropped by his house for his party. Admiral was also there to help him celebrate, and I gave Louie a wrapped, customized, barbell. He seemed really excited about it.

Louie, at his birthday party: Oh! Oh, wow.

K.K. Slider was in town, and he performed K.K. Dixie for me, Apollo, Ketchup, and Marina.

Yesterday, I helped out Wisp and he rewarded me with a vertical-stripes shirt.

Today, I received my latest Nookling reward: a Nook Inc. cushion. Pretty cool!

I went out to Lottie’s Island to work at Paradise Planning, and Sylvia wanted some pool time for her and her child. So I gave her a regular pool and a plastic pool (for her child). In addition, I chose a home next to the river, so they can also do some wild swimming if they choose.

I also added a beach chair, a beach towel, and a swinging bench…all facing the pool so they can keep an eye on the kid(s). Then I threw in some inflatable toys for good measure.

Indoors, I made it a child-friendly house with a blue playroom wall and colorful puzzle flooring. Each corner of the house has a different purpose: There’s a sleeping area, a bathroom, an eating area, and a play area for the kid.

Back at the office, Lottie paid me 12,000 Poki for my work. Niko wanted to talk to me about D.I.Y. recipes; in fact, he begged me to tell him everything I’ve crafted so far!

Niko: Please. I'm a desperate monkey!

I did, and I can now use crafted items in the houses I design from now on. At least, I can use items that I’ve already crafted before (not new recipes). Fine by me!

I then returned to Forest, where it was now raining. Ketchup hasn’t been indoors the past three days, so I still haven’t seen the inside of her house yet! But I did get to see her in her super-cute rain gear!

Ketchup: We've got a rainy night tonight! Have fun out here, but be super careful, bitty!
It’s like water off a duck’s back. 😉

I found a lost item on the ground, and I returned it to Hornsby. He thanked me for returning it by giving me a clean-room suit. 😛

Hornsby: This is the shopping bag I thought I lost! You found him!
Him?

See you all again soon! Have a good night (or day)! 🙂

Adding Ketchup

As expected, the cute red ducky Ketchup has moved into town today. She obviously hasn’t unpacked yet, but I already like her wallpaper. Welcome to Forest, Ketchup!

Ketchup: I can tell this is where the universe wants me to be, you know? Good things are going to happen here.

I prepared some bottles of tomato puree to display outside of Ketchup’s house. 🍅

I’ve been crafting a hyacinth lamp every few days, when my purple hyacinths bloom. I then turn them blue, either by customizing them myself or by paying Cyrus to do it. But which is the better option? I decided to check it out. If I customize it myself, it requires four customization kits. At 600 bells each, that comes to a total of 2,400 bells. But if I take it to Cyrus, he charges 3,100 bells. So it’s cheaper to do it myself.

Hyacinth lamp customization: 3,100 bells.

Marina asked me for a new greeting, so I told her to say “Drop me in the ocean.”

Marina: Drop me in the ocean? It does sound right!

Later, I went out to Paradise Planning. Sherb was there, and he wanted a fairy-tale theme park! That sounded like fun, so I jumped at the chance to make it. I picked out a location that seemed to have a lot of land, and I filled it in with a plaza ferris wheel, plaza merry-go-round, teacup ride, train, and just about every amusement park ride I saw listed. 😛 His yard may be a bit crowded, but it looks like so much fun! 😁

Indoors, I gave Sherb a throwback race-car bed, some stuffed animals, some balloons, and a variety of sweets and treats. I used a concession-stand wall and party flooring in here. It should be a nice place to relax after riding all the rides outside. 🙂

I think Sherb is going to love his new vacation home! When I got back to the office, Lottie paid me 12,000 Poki for my work.

Have a good weekend, everyone! I’ll see you all next time.

A Fruitful Search

Today, I helped out my villagers by performing three favors:

  • I delivered a kung-fu tee from Sasha to Marina.
  • I caught a stinkbug for Louie.
  • I bought some medicine for Bones, who was sick.
Bones: My brain's foggy...legs are wibbly... head's all clogged up...I'm like the living definition of total blog.
Wibbly Bones? Are you related to Bill Wibbly?

Those favors brought my Smile Isle progress up to 295/300! Just five more favors to go! I should finish that achievement within the next several days.

Now that Eloise is gone, I realized that I have seven male villagers and only two female villagers. I know some people like to keep a 5-5 balance, but I’m okay with my towns being 6-4 in either direction, or even 7-3. But I have to admit that 8-2 would be a bit extreme. That doesn’t mean I would turn down one of my top-tier favorites, but it does mean I was leaning in the direction of getting a female villager this time.

So with that in mind, I began my search for the next resident of Forest. On the first mystery island, I found Chief the wolf. I like Chief, and I wouldn’t mind having him around. But he’s not in my top tier, so he’s not ahead of the pack. Besides, I wanted to keep looking.

Chief: Anyway, I'm Chief. And you're...Jeff, from Forest?

On island #2, I found Becky the chicken. I’ve never liked Becky, and I remember hating her back in City Folk. So I quickly flew the coop. 🐔

Becky: I was starting to feel like a castaway on a deserted island, chicklet. Then there you were! What a relief!

The 3rd island tempted me more than either of the first two islands: Boots was there! Boots is my buddy in New Leaf, and I like him a lot. But something about him doesn’t look quite right in New Horizons. Maybe it’s the model, or maybe it’s just that silly jester shirt that makes him look like a clown. Sorry, Boots.

Boots: Jeff, huh? Great to meet you, Jeff. You're not from Forest, are you?

Island #4 had Agnes the piggy. I like her better than Becky, but not enough that I wanted to bring home the bacon.

Agnes: Anyway, this little place is so calm. Really lets me get my head straight--exactly what I needed, snuffle.

On the fifth mystery island, I found a unique red ducky named Ketchup! This isn’t your garden-variety villager!

Ketchup: Hiiii! Fab to meet you! I'm Ketchup! Are you visiting from another island too?
Nice to meet you too! I’ll relish this moment.

At first I wasn’t 100% sure if Ketchup was animal or vegetable male or female, since they don’t color-code the nameplates any more. But a quick search told me that Ketchup is female (and a peppy). She’s also very cute, and she’s a villager that I’ve never had in any Animal Crossing game before. That was a good combination, so I invited her to town! 🍅

I’m happy to have Ketchup moving in soon, and I’m glad that I had a fruitful search this time. (Unlike my last search in January, when I got Admiral as a random move-in). I’ll be back with another entry tomorrow to welcome Ketchup to town. Hope to see you then! 🙂
