Skye’s Art Class

April has arrived, and that means cherry blossom season is in full bloom. Many trees around town now have pink leaves, and we can also catch some cherry blossom petals with a net.

I gave Ketchup some tomato puree tonight. Maybe I’m a bit twisted, but I’d like to see bottles of it all over her house. 😂

Ketchup: Some tomato puree?!

She returned the favor by giving me a henley shirt.

Out on Lottie’s Island, Wardell asked me for a favor. He asked me to donate some DIY crafting materials to Niko. So I went upstairs to Niko’s materials box and dropped off all of the wood and tree branches he asked for. Nothing happened immediately, so I went out to the beach to find a client.

Phil the ostrich wanted to feel like he’s in outer space, and that sounded like a fun project to take on. I picked out a tiny, sandy island for him in the southeast corner of the map. He insisted on a lunar lander and an asteroid, and I allowed that. But my plan for his yard was just a site for launching rockets, like Cape Canaveral.

Phil's rocket-launching site in Happy Home Paradise.

Indoors, I wanted his house to look like a spaceship. I used the sci-fi flooring, server room wall, and the sci-fi wall as the accent wall (to look like the front windows of the ship). I also added a spaceship control panel, two crew member’s seats, a strategic meeting table, a cold sleep pod, a couple astronaut suits, and other spacey items. I also chose the “space” soundscape for obvious reasons. 😛

Here’s a view from the front, with Phil and me at the controls.

I was pretty happy with it, and Lottie paid me 12,000 Poki for my work. She then told me I can start making two-story vacation homes now! I tried it out immediately with my next client.

Skye wanted a place to host painting classes. I picked out a pretty springtime setting for her vacation home, and I decided to make her front yard resemble a museum, with a bunch of statues.

Indoors, I used a white window-panel wall (with a stately wall as the accent wall) and a random-square-tile flooring. Skye insisted on a perfect painting, but I also hung up some of my favorite paintings on the back wall.

I set up stools and tables for the art students, and they each have their own painting set. I also supplied a variety of paint cans at the back of the room, where the students can get the colors they need. Decorative bottles and a fruit basket provide some models for anyone painting a still life.

I even set up a painting of Shadow Mario’s logo from Super Mario Sunshine. Who let him enroll in this class? 😂 I really had a lot of fun designing this room, and it’s my favorite thing I’ve designed in Happy Home Paradise so far. 🙂

As for the upstairs, it’s not quite as elaborate…but it is a nice living space for Skye. No messy painting allowed up here! I used the random-square-tile flooring again, along with a white European-style wall. I gave her a bed, a table, a piano, an artsy table, and a couple of plants. It’s simple, but I think Skye will enjoy it.

When I got back to the office, Lottie gave me a promotion! I’m now called a “Famous Designer” and I earned 15,000 Poki for my work. But more importantly, I’ve now unlocked the ability to design for VIP clients. In other words, I can now summon special characters by scanning their amiibo cards! This is what I’ve been waiting for!

Have a great weekend, everyone! See you next time! 🙂

Designing 3 Houses

Last night, Wisp gave me a wide display case. That’s actually a pretty nice reward! It can display two different items.

When I went out to Lottie’s Island, Niko greeted me and told me that he learned some new D.I.Y. recipes. We headed over to the classroom, where Niko taught me how to make pillars and island counters.

Niko: So, for today's lesson, I'll teach you the recipes for pillars and island counters, OK?

I can craft them now, and I can even use them in my own home. Pretty cool. 😎

I went looking for a new client, and Angus wanted a home with a lighthouse. I picked out a tiny island that was half sand. In addition to his lighthouse, I gave him a wave breaker, a yacht, a beach chair, and a few palm trees.

Inside, I used an ocean-horizon wall and a sandy-beach flooring. I used the new counters to divide off separate parts of his house. He has a fish storage and food preparation area on the left, a mini-bedroom on the right, a small dining area, and a corner for firewood storage.

Lottie paid me 12,000 Poki for the job, but I wasn’t done working. Niko came into the office, followed by Claude. Claude wanted help finding a roommate!

Claude: But I dunno how to find a roommate. Do you know anything about helping strangers live together?
I tried to tell him that’s not a good idea, but he wouldn’t hare it.

Lottie and Niko told me it was my responsibility to find Claude a roommate. That didn’t seem fair, but oh well. 😛 Niko told me I could find someone on the island (such as in the restaurant or cafe) or I could use an amiibo. But as we were speaking, Papi sat down on the ground right behind us.

Niko: OK. So. You'll find a roomie for our client, right, Jeff?

I took that as a sign, and I spoke with Papi about becoming Claude’s roommate. He agreed, and we headed off to Claude’s vacation house for a redesign. Niko told me to make the room bigger or use partition walls to separate the rooms…and that’s what I did. I kept the arcade stuff in one area, but I made two separate bedrooms. Here’s the room from the front…

…and here’s the view from the back. They each have a bed, dresser, chair, and TV.

Separate bedrooms for Claude and Papi.

I kept the same name for the house, “Home Game Hideaway.” The word “hideaway” seemed particularly appropriate, since their bedrooms are virtually hidden from the front view.

Back at the office, I earned another 12,000 Poki for my work. Lottie said we could now offer a roommate-matching service to other previous clients. That’s not really a priority for me right now, but it is nice to have that option.

Believe it or not, I decided to help yet another client. Deirdre wanted a vacation home where it’s always autumn. I picked out a spot up on a mountain (well, sort of), and I gave her several autumn-themed items including a tree’s bounty arch, some leaf piles, a leaf campfire, and a leaf stool. I think she’s going to fall in love with her new home. 🍁

Dierdre's autumn-themed yard.

Indoors, I used the autumn wall, colored-leaves flooring, a maple-leaf rug, a bunch of mush furniture, and some mushroom- and pumpkin-based food dishes. She’ll never want to leave! 😉

I earned another 12,000 Poki for this design. Wardell then took a break to go stare at the ocean. I joined him, and he talked about the sounds of nature…

Wardell: If you allow the sounds of nature to surround you...then peace and relaxation can be yours.

He taught me how to add these sounds to the homes I design. That’s pretty cool, but at this point I needed to take a break from designing homes. I’ll be doing more soon enough!

This afternoon, Ketchup was finally home for the first time since unpacking. So I got to see her house, at long last. It’s cute, and it looks like a good place to have a picnic! 🙂

Marina was sick with a cold, so I gave her some medicine. She thanked me by giving me a do-rag. This was my 297th villager favor, so I just need three more to complete Smile Isle.

I’ll be back with another entry soon. Hope to see you next time! 🙂

Duck in the Rain

On Saturday, Hornsby sent me a warm painting in the mail. It was authentic, but I didn’t need it for the museum.

It was Louie’s birthday, and I dropped by his house for his party. Admiral was also there to help him celebrate, and I gave Louie a wrapped, customized, barbell. He seemed really excited about it.

Louie, at his birthday party: Oh! Oh, wow.

K.K. Slider was in town, and he performed K.K. Dixie for me, Apollo, Ketchup, and Marina.

Yesterday, I helped out Wisp and he rewarded me with a vertical-stripes shirt.

Today, I received my latest Nookling reward: a Nook Inc. cushion. Pretty cool!

The Nook Inc. cushion.

I went out to Lottie’s Island to work at Paradise Planning, and Sylvia wanted some pool time for her and her child. So I gave her a regular pool and a plastic pool (for her child). In addition, I chose a home next to the river, so they can also do some wild swimming if they choose.

I also added a beach chair, a beach towel, and a swinging bench…all facing the pool so they can keep an eye on the kid(s). Then I threw in some inflatable toys for good measure.

Indoors, I made it a child-friendly house with a blue playroom wall and colorful puzzle flooring. Each corner of the house has a different purpose: There’s a sleeping area, a bathroom, an eating area, and a play area for the kid.

Back at the office, Lottie paid me 12,000 Poki for my work. Niko wanted to talk to me about D.I.Y. recipes; in fact, he begged me to tell him everything I’ve crafted so far!

Niko: Please. I'm a desperate monkey!

I did, and I can now use crafted items in the houses I design from now on. At least, I can use items that I’ve already crafted before (not new recipes). Fine by me!

I then returned to Forest, where it was now raining. Ketchup hasn’t been indoors the past three days, so I still haven’t seen the inside of her house yet! But I did get to see her in her super-cute rain gear!

Ketchup: We've got a rainy night tonight! Have fun out here, but be super careful, bitty!
It’s like water off a duck’s back. 😉

I found a lost item on the ground, and I returned it to Hornsby. He thanked me for returning it by giving me a clean-room suit. 😛

Hornsby: This is the shopping bag I thought I lost! You found him!
Him?

See you all again soon! Have a good night (or day)! 🙂
