Bianca’s Vacation Home

On Tuesday, I gave Admiral a retro massage chair. He rewarded me with a dog nose! 🐶

Admiral: I don't want any freebies. Here! Have a dog nose!
If this belonged to Bones, I’m going to be very mad at you.

Between the dog nose and the head bandages, I think our friendship is 90% based on exchanging unflattering accessories with each other. 😂

I bought a scoreboard on Lottie’s Island for just 710 Poki. Of course, I had to check it out to see if it could be used. When you go up to it and press A, you can change the score on the left side from 0 to 1. The score on the right side can not be changed, so the score is always either 0-1 or 1-1.

The possible states of the scoreboard item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

That was a bit disappointing, but I guess I shouldn’t have expected anything different. Are there any furniture items that have more than two possible states? (Note: I’m not talking about item variations/customizations, I’m talking about what they do when you “use” them.) Items can be on or off, up or down, and so on. But I can’t think of any that have a third state (such as high, low, and medium). If you can think of any, please let me know!

Yesterday, I helped out Gulliver by digging up his communicator parts. Today, he sent me a veil in the mail. (Veil mail is worse than snail mail.) 😛

I went out to Lottie’s Island tonight to work a shift at Paradise Planning. Bianca wanted a snowy vacation home. That certainly makes sense for a snow leopard! I took her request to the extreme by putting her house on a literal glacier. 😂

Choosing a wintry spot for Bianca's vacation home.

She insisted on a three-tiered snowperson and a frozen sculpture for her yard. I gave her some additional snowmen, a frozen arch, and a wild log bench. I also added some frozen trees, since I couldn’t add real trees on a glacier.

Indoors, Bianca insisted on a ski rack. I used a ski-slope wall and ski-slope flooring, and I added some frozen furniture, a sleigh, some illuminated snowflakes, and a wood-burning stove to keep warm.

Bianca enjoyed her new vacation home (not that she has a choice 😂), and I earned 9,000 Poki for my work.

As you may know, Nintendo introduced a new feature for Nintendo Switch Online members. By spending a few My Nintendo points, you can get new icon elements to make a new avatar. For March, they added some Animal Crossing villagers who have March birthdays…so I chose Hornsby to represent me on my new icon.

Have you used this new feature? Who’s on your avatar? Leave a comment below! 🙂

See you all next time!

Stretching Pavé

Today is Festivale, and it’s the day that dancing sensation (and fabulous peacock) Pavé comes to town.

Pave: This is unacceptable to Pave. And who is Pave? I AM PAVE, dance champion internationale!

Feathers of various colors fall from the sky today (among lots of confetti), and Pavé asks that you bring him three feathers of a matching color.

Outdoor villagers will dance, throw confetti, and wear cute hats.

Marina: Lollipop! Can you believe Festivale is finally here?

The feathers seem more abundant in New Horizons than they do in New Leaf. But then again, New Horizons doesn’t have mini-games to play to earn feathers (though villagers will still trade colors with you). Once I found three blue feathers, I took them to Pavé and he gave me a Festivale flag.

Pave: Success! The reward is a job well done. Pave jokes! Pave gives the Festivale flag.

I decided to participate in group stretching for one reason, and one reason only: To see if Pavé would join in. And sure enough, he did! 😂

Pave, the Festivale peacock, participates in group stretching.

Near the center of town (by Peach Park), I caught a rainbow feather. It can immediately be exchanged for a furniture item.

I caught a rainbow feather! Viva Festivale!

Since there didn’t seem to be anything new to the event this year, I didn’t play long enough to earn another Festivale float. I obtained eight Pavé items and then stopped there. Those eight items could be sold for a total of 6,100 bells. Yikes. Festivale in New Horizons may be easier than in New Leaf, but the items are practically worthless. In New Leaf, the items sell for 12,000 bells apiece!

I hope you all had a good day. Viva Festivale!

Static vs. Convenience

As of yesterday (Friday, February 25th), the snow of winter has melted and spring has unofficially arrived to the Animal Crossing universe.

Marina asked me to play a treasure hunt game, although she only gave me three minutes to find the buried item. But this time, I was successful; it only took me one minute to find it.

Time remaining 2:00. Treasure found! I found treasure!

I returned it to Marina, and she opened it up for me. There was a steampunk hat inside.

Later on, Static was feeling grouchy (well, more than usual), and he was complaining about convenience, of all things. 😛

Static: Like this whole email thingy. Oh, goodie, you can send a picture of a smiley face through the ethernet!

He said he’d prefer to leave an angry letter on someone’s buggy. Wow.

The Nooklings were buying turnips for 128 bells apiece, so I sold my entire stash for a total of 230,400 bells. However, I did not make any progress towards my “Cornering the Stalk Market” achievement! My total was the same before and after selling turnips!

Contrary to what I’ve previously thought, apparently it does only count profit and not total sales. But since I recently took a big loss, apparently I had dug myself a hole and this modest profit did not fully recoup my losses. In other words, the figure shown on the achievement is not necessarily your current progress, it’s your high point. It’s like the Cast Master goal in that respect: It shows your high score, not your current score.

Today, my previous snowman gave me a large snowflake on his way out. At least he lived long enough to see springtime. 😛

Snowboy: It's my dramatic parting gift to you, handed over as I melt into oblivion...

K.K. Slider was in town tonight, and he performed K.K. Chorale for me and Apollo.

Today’s mysterious island was an autumn island, and I pocketed a bunch of acorns and mushrooms. I checked my crafting recipes and saw that I never made a mush lamp yet, so I went ahead and made my first one right there.

I hope you’re enjoying your weekend. Never Stop Crossing!
