Billow Clouds

Last Tuesday, I spotted the northern lights up in the sky (I think for the first time this season). I went up to my favorite stargazing spot and enjoyed the view. 🙂

On Friday morning, the Nooklings were paying a whopping 571 bells for turnips! I sold my turnips for nearly 1.2 million bells! That helped a lot with my Nook Miles goal, although I’m still not even halfway to the 10 million bells of profit required.

At the campsite, I found Cousteau the French frog camping out. I was not interested in asking him to explore the depths of Forest.

Cousteau: Yo! How's it going? They call me Mega-Arm Cousteau.

On Sunday morning, I bought 6,840 turnips from Daisy Mae at a price of 93 bells apiece. I believe this was the most turnips I’ve ever bought at once. My empty “2024” area provides a convenient place to store them all until I sell.

My pile of turnips on the ground.

Yesterday, I found a scallop while diving. Pascal popped up to lecture me on the difference between morals and ethics. But his explanation wasn’t quite what I expected.

Pascal: People ask what's the difference between morals and ethics. Only five out of six letters, maaaan!

Today, I was surprised when I looked up at the sky. I saw some clouds I don’t think I’ve seen before! At least, not that I remember. They look like stripes in the sky (or a rib cage), but apparently they’re called billow clouds.

My two most colorful villagers (Rio and Ankha) were hanging out at the plaza, both doing yoga (or at least, stretching). But after a few moments, they were distracted by a lone snowflake. They both stopped to watch it go by.

Rio and Ankha stop exercising to watch a snowflake fly by.

Here are a few other quick notes about the past week in Forest:

  • Last Wednesday, I sold 38 bugs to Flick for over 250k.
  • By Friday, my savings balance topped 76 million bells.
  • On Saturday, I told K.K. Slider I was feeling blue, and he played K.K. Condor for me.
  • Bob was sick yesterday, so I gave him some medicine. In return, he gave me a bathroom towel rack.
  • Today, Midge changed her nickname for me from “cookie” to “cupcake.” Either way, it’s pretty sweet.
  • I completed C.J.’s challenge, and then sold him 12 fish for 89,250 bells.

See you next time!

Bob’s Birthday

Last Thursday, I crafted a new shovel to replace one that broke. After I was done, I was alerted that I just received 3,000 Nook Miles. That’s right, I have now completed the DIY Tools achievement for crafting 3,000 tools!

All DIY Tools Nook Miles achievements completed.
That’s a LOT of crafting. I should probably start buying tools now.

I still have two more sections I need to complete, the letter-writing one and the turnip one. Those are going to take me a good while, yet.

Rocket the superhero gorilla was camping at the campsite on Saturday. She’s the only superhero I’m not interested in.

Rocket, at the campsite: I kinda came out here on a lark, but this place seriously rocks. I'm in love, vroom!

But there was something a bit interesting about her visit: She also camped here in November 2020, which I believe makes her my first repeat camper. At least of the campers I’ve mentioned in the blog.

Yesterday morning, I made space in my pockets to get some money out of the bank and buy some turnips from Daisy Mae. But there was a problem: I couldn’t get into Resident Services to access my account! It was closed for New Year’s Eve!

Resident Services was closed for the holiday!

But I still wanted to buy turnips, so I started crafting a bunch of stuff to sell. I also grabbed a few pearls out of storage to sell as well. Once I reached a bit over 200k, I went over to Daisy Mae and bought as many turnips as I could afford: 2,070, at a price of 99 bells apiece.

Later on, Isabelle gave me a light stick and Tom Nook gave me some party poppers. I also bought an aqua New Year’s hat from Nook. I then hung around and waited for the new year to arrive (as I also had New Leaf and GameCube on). At midnight, 2024 arrived, and the fireworks started. Happy New Year! 🎆

Fireworks spell out 2024 during the New Year's Eve celebration in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Today is the first day of 2024, of course, and my villagers wished me a Happy New Year. Some, however, did it louder than others.

Louie: HAPPY NEW YEAR!
THANK YOU, LOUIE.

But January 1st isn’t just New Year’s Day, it’s also Bob’s birthday! I crafted him a rocking horse, and customized it to be colorful (since he has always liked colorful/kiddie furniture). I headed over to his party, and Agent S was also there. I gave Bob the gift, and I think he liked it! 🙂

Bob: I never dreamed I'd get something so darn neat!
I just wish I could see him actually ride it. 😛

Here are a few other quick notes about the past several days:

  • I helped out Gulliver last Friday, and he sent me another kaffiyeh.
  • My savings balance reached 75 million bells.
  • K.K. Slider performed K.K. Rally for me and Ankha on Saturday.
  • I’ve ordered way more zodiac dragon figurines than I’ll probably ever use. 😛 But they could come in handy at some point, so I wanted them anyway.

If you haven’t yet seen my video taking a look back at my 2023 in Animal Crossing (covering the full series), I hope you’ll give it a quick watch:

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope to see you all again soon! 🙂

Never Stop Crossing!

Holiday Week

Sunday was Christmas Eve (aka Toy Day), and I helped out Jingle by crafting some festive wrapping paper. In return, he gave me some Toy Day stockings. I then started delivering Santa’s gifts to all of my villagers.

Ketchup: I mean, YEAH, it's totes couture, and it kinda looks like the one Santa has, and... OH! Wait...
Her face looks so funny here. 😆

Bones had an amusing comment about Jingle; he said that Jingle was like a mug of hot cocoa that talks!

Bones: He's so nice and friendly. He's like a mug of hot cocoa that talks!
Bones is so crazy, I love it. 😛

Once I was done with all of the deliveries, Jingle rewarded me with a Toy Day sleigh.

Jingle: And then...something extra special... Your very own Toy Day sleigh!

At that point, I hung up my stockings in my house and wrapped up my game for the night. I did not give my own gifts to my villagers this year, but they seemed happy just to get the presents from Santa.

On Monday (Christmas Day), I checked my stockings and found Jingle’s photo inside. Thanks, Santa (and Jingle)!

Jingle's photo was inside! How sneaky of Santa...

Wisp was in town yesterday, and he gave me some Casablanca lillies in exchange for his soul. 😛

I tried out my bathtub with yuzu (which was a seasonal item I recently ordered from the catalog). I wanted to see if I could glitch into it, and indeed, I could.

Sitting in a bathtub with yuzu.

But speaking of seasonal items, I ordered a zodiac dragon figure (or two) today. It looks cute!

Zodiac dragon figurine: 1,600 bells.

And to get ready for the new year, I finally finished cleaning up my Halloween jack-o’-lantern area. I spelled out “2024” using paths, so this will also show up on the map. Just a few more days to go!

2024 spelled out in paths in my ACNH town.

In the next few days, I’ll be posting my video taking a look back at my 2023 in Animal Crossing. Stay tuned for that, and have a great New Year’s Eve! 🙂
