First FNF of 2024

Last Tuesday, Gala the pig was camping at the campsite. She’s cute, and she is one of my favorite pigs in the series. But I did not ask her to move in at this time.

Gala, at the campsite: I'm Gala, by the way.

On Friday, I let Merengue visit my house for the first time. In my bedroom, she said it felt like we were on an exotic vacation, because of my rattan waste bin. Um…okay. If you say so.

Merengue: I feel like we're on some exotic vacation, just looking at your rattan waste bin.

I shot down a balloon present, and it contained some 3D glasses. That inspired me to dress up like Zeke from Zombies Ate My Neighbors, so I added a skull shirt and dyed my hair too.

At 10:00 p.m., I opened up my gate for Friday Night Forest (my first of 2024). Bran and Sacky were the first to arrive. I raced Bran on my Zelda obstacle course (since Sacky didn’t want to race), and then we went to see Merengue.

Alex also came over, and we all hung out on the new structure I built. I literally built it ten minutes before opening my gate, and it isn’t necessarily going to be here forever.

Bran, Alex, Jeff, and Sacky hanging out on my new structure.

We talked about the arrival of summer, and the (eventual) release of Switch 2.

After a little while, Alex raced Bran on the Zelda obstacle course, and also my other mini-obstacle course. (Alex won on the Zelda course, and Bran won on the other one.) Alex then raced Sacky (Alex won by a narrow margin), and I raced Bran (I won).

After briefly seeing my fountain erupt at 11 p.m., we went over to Peach Park.

Sacky then disconnected, then Sam came over, and then Sacky returned.

We searched for Bob and chatted with him. Sam saw the Zelda obstacle course and he wanted to race on it too. So I raced Sam, and I defeated him easily. Sam wanted another chance, so we raced again. Sam got out to a pretty big lead, and you can see it in this screenshot:

Sam's lead in the obstacle course.

He was already across the pond. But at that point, I kicked it into turbo and actually won the race at the end. πŸ˜† Yes, it helps that I know the course better and I know the optimal way to get through certain obstacles, but still, I was pumped to win after being so far behind. 😁

Sam then raced Alex, and Alex won. Sam was getting really frustrated that he couldn’t win a game. So I raced him again, and I messed up a couple times. Sam got out to a lead again, but I still caught up and won again. πŸ˜† Sam wanted to go again, and this time he raced Bran. Sam finally won a match, and he stopped to flex and pose on the final podium for a while. πŸ˜†

We then went to my house for a bite. I mean, a bit.

Jeff: Sunfish ate my neighbors.

I mentioned that my “Zombies” outfit would be more complete if I had a squirt gun. That would be such a fun addition to a future Animal Crossing game, although I can’t imagine them ever doing that. We didn’t even get the toy hammers back from New Leaf. πŸ™

We then had a spontaneous session of Marios watching TV. I don’t know why, it just kinda happened. 🀷

I noticed it was almost midnight, so we went out to my fountains for a group photo.

We took more photos on my new structure, this time with some ocean sunfish.

Three sunfish and a cheering Bran.

And we got our umbrellas out, too.

After that, we got some coffee and I ended the session around 12:30.

Today, Hippeux was camping at the campsite (for the 2nd time). I was definitely not interested in him; he seems even uglier in HD than he was in New Leaf. πŸ˜›

Hippeux, at the campsite: You're a movie star! That's how it works in the movies, anyway.

Here are a few other quick notes about the past week:

  • Wisp gave me a green painted-wood wall last Tuesday, and a busing station yesterday.
  • On Thursday, I caught a dorado, but I was forced to release it. I was standing on a bridge, so I couldn’t drop anything instead. Oof.
  • On Friday, I sold 10 bugs to Flick for 41,250 bells.
  • I returned a lost book to Rio, and she rewarded me with a tricycle.

See you all next time!

Pawnee Party

On Saturday, I started up the game shortly after 6 p.m.; Ankha just casually mentioned that the Bug-Off was a lot of commotion. I was thinking…”what Bug-Off?” πŸ˜† Oops… I guessed I missed it this time.

Ankha: Well, the Bug-Off certainly was quite a lot of commotion today, wouldn't you say?
Umm… sure, I guess. 🀷

Later on, I headed over to Alex’s town Pawnee. Jac and Matthew were also there, and I joined everyone in Alex’s house. I was an ogre. πŸ˜›

The four of us hanging out in Alex's town.

Jesse also came over, and we hung out in Alex’s kitchen for a while. I was playing with the nutcracker and wondering where he kept getting infinite nuts, while Alex whipped up some pancakes. (I was a frog at this point.)

Logan also came over, and we hung out in Alex’s yard for a bit. After an ocean sunfish gave birth to my head, Alex told us that Jacques was celebrating a birthday. So we headed over to his house, and I gave the birthday boy my silly glasses.

Jacques: Hey, you have very good taste giving me some silly glasses like this.

Back outside, I ran into Marina…who was surprised to see me there in Pawnee!

Marina: Jeff? Is that you?

For a moment, I thought it was my former villager Marina! But Alex told me that she came from Logan’s town (Moonscar), so that’s why she recognized me.

We tried to watch a movie at Alex’s outdoor theater, but somebody was blocking the screen. It was Logan pretending to be Alex. πŸ˜›

Before Alex ended the party, we gathered for a group photo. (Jac had to leave early, so he wasn’t still around at this point.)

Waving goodbye in Pawnee.

Thanks for the invite, Alex! I had a good time! πŸ™‚

Last night, K.K. Slider was in town on a Sunday (due to the Bug-Off on Saturday). He performed “Steep Hill” for me.

Tonight, I gave June a shell lamp that was customized to be pink. She thanked me for it, and gave me a barista uniform in return. I need to start giving her gifts on a regular basis, because she’s been in town for three months and I don’t have her photo yet.

Believe it or not, I’m finally planning on having my first Friday Night Forest of the year this Friday (June 28th). Okay, technically, I did have a FNF in New Leaf this year, but this will be my first one in New Horizons for 2024. 😲 Anyone on my roster is welcome, and this will probably be the last time I’ll be hosting Zelda obstacle course races.

Update: The next Wi-Fi Moments video is here!

Sam’s Party, Fountain Photos

On Saturday night, I headed over to Sam’s town of Seattle for his birthday party. Jac, Jesse, Storm, Logan, and Matthew were also there. We hung out at Able Sisters for a bit, and we spun our umbrellas outside in the rain.

I’m the strawberry.

Sam suggested that we go to Bob’s house, because he wanted to see me “flip out” because he has Bob. I’m not sure why that would make me flip out, especially when I have Bob too. πŸ˜›

Sam: Bob <3 Jeff. Jeff: I have him too, tho.

But then, Sam suggested we all visit Lolly. And then I was a little bit jealous. πŸ˜› But not too much, because I do have Lolly in New Leaf. But Sam thought it was funny how it looked like we were all lined up talk to Lolly, like she’s a celebrity. πŸ˜†

Lining up to speak to Lolly?

We eventually made our way back to Sam’s house, where we celebrated his birthday…and he ate a cake. Happy birthday, Sam! πŸŽ‚

Later, we went to the plaza, where Logan requested a special song from K.K. Slider. I didn’t care for the title, myself.

K.K.: Right on, let's get this show started. Goin' out to Logan, it's Jeff smells like poo time.

But K.K. actually played the Wild World/City Folk title screen theme! Pretty cool!

Next, we went to the Roost for some coffee. But we were all completely out of sync with each other. Probably the most chaotic coffee gulp I’ve seen in the game so far. πŸ˜†

Seven players drinking coffee at different moments.

After a couple of disconnections, Storm left for the night. Back outside, Matthew fell into a pitfall…and blamed me for it. Why do I always get blamed for pitfalls? I couldn’t even use my shovel in Sam’s town!

We saw another K.K. show (K.K. Disco this time), while Logan tried to annoy us all. And then we posed for a group photo before Sam ended the session. It turned out to be excellent timing, because it was the top of the hour and the fountain erupted right then. β›²

On Sunday afternoon, I spotted Daisy Mae in the Roost. I think this was my first time seeing her in there. She wasn’t having coffee, though; she had a sable cookie instead. I just don’t know how she eats it without her snot getting on it. Yuck.

Daisy Mae: Did you know I never had a sable cookie before I came to visit here?

Last month, I thought the rainy season had started already because I was having rain almost every day for a week or so. But apparently it was just an unlucky week. Because the real rainy season is underway now, and Forest is getting drenched in unwanted wetness and flower buds.

On Tuesday, Pascal pondered why fastening something makes it not go fast. πŸ˜›

Pascal: Why is it that fastening something means making totally sure it doesn't go fast? Words, maaan.

On Wednesday, I retrieved Gullivarrr’s phone for him. The next day, he sent me a pirate-ship cannon. Finally, my 2nd cannon! He has sent me some items 5+ times, but never a 2nd cannon until now. This is his best item, in my opinion, and I’m glad to finally have two. πŸ˜†

Today, it was raining a bit as I started up the game…but the sun was also shining. Within minutes, the rain stopped completely at the top of the hour. I was hoping to see my first rainbow in Forest, but it never materialized. On the bright side, I did get a nice photo of my fountains.

Fountains, clouds, Bob, Jeff, and Merengue.

Here are a few other quick notes about the past week or so:

  • Last Saturday, K.K. Slider played K.K. Slack-Key for me, Rio, and Static.
  • On Tuesday, I sold seven fish to C.J. for 115,500 bells.
  • On Wednesday, I returned a lost book to June. She rewarded me with an athletic jacket.
  • Pascal gave me a mermaid princess dress, and I gave it to Merengue. She put it on right away (and rewarded me with a rugby uniform).
  • Today, I sold seven bugs to Flick for 38,250 bells.

Enjoy your weekend, and I’ll be back with more next week! πŸ™‚
