Not Dead, in 2022

Yesterday, I went to Lottie’s Island to do some work. I found my former New Leaf resident Vivian there, and she wanted “a gym to dance it out.” As for the outdoors, I gave her some coconut trees, a climbing wall, a yoga mat, and an exercise ball.

The outside of Vivian's vacation house.

Indoors, I used a club wall and club flooring, and a variety of exercise equipment. She can exercise, dance, watch TV…or take a nap.

She enjoyed her new vacation home, and Lottie gave me another 6,000 Poki. On the way back to the plane, I spoke with Niko, and he found a message bottle!

Niko: Check out this bottle! I was just walking along the beach, and then... BOOM! Free bottle!

He gave it to me, even though he didn’t know what it was. He wasn’t even familiar with D.I.Y. crafting, but I found a recipe for a glowing-moss stool inside the bottle.

Back in Forest, I went diving and found a scallop. Pascal popped up to ask for it, and he told me that there are two kinds of things in this world:

Pascal: There are two kinds of things: stuff that is an apple, and stuff that is not an apple, maaan.

He then gave me a pearl in exchange for the scallop. I later found Wisp in town. Once I returned his spirits to him, he gave me a milk-glass lamp.

Today, Sasha was sick with a cold. I crafted some medicine for him, and he gave me an ice-hockey uniform.

I listened in on a conversation between Agent S and Admiral, and the squirrel told the bird that she was dying…and then dead.

Agent S: I am--for totally def literally--dying. I am dead, in 2022!
…but not really, right?

Admiral said he was confused by Agent’s use of slang. But oddly enough, he was actually referring to the “in 2022” part. But Agent S somehow talked him into using the catchphrase too. 🤷‍♀️

Nook Shopping had a yacht for sale today, at a steep price of 260,000 bells. I bought it anyway, even though I’m not exactly sure how I’ll use it just yet.

Yacht: 260,000 bells.
Where once there was a yacht,
now it has been bought!

Jolly Redd’s ship was in town today, and he had a nice painting for sale. It was the first time I’ve seen the nice painting for sale in this game, so I bought it. It will arrive in the mail tomorrow.

Admiral Arrives

On Sunday, I grabbed some Nook Miles Tickets and started visiting some mystery islands to hunt for a new villager. I decided I would try five times and then give up for the night. The first three islands had Cobb the pig, Tipper the cow, and Pinky the bear. I was not interested in them, but I was tempted by Mint on the 4th island…

Mint: Anyhoo, I'm Mint. It's a pleasure to meet you, Jeff.

I do like Mint, even though she’s not quite in my top tier of villagers. I considered asking her to move in, but I didn’t pull the trigger. I already have two squirrels in Forest (Agent S and Static), and I thought having three squirrels around might drive me nuts. 🥜

The 5th island had O’Hare the rabbit, which was an easy “no” for me. I was tired and didn’t feel like searching any more, so I decided to take my chances and wrap up my game for the night.

Yesterday, I was a bit disappointed to see a “sold” sign on Apple’s old plot. I really don’t like how the game usually only gives us one day to find a new villager. But I checked the sign and saw that Admiral was moving in. I don’t particularly like him, but I don’t particularly dislike him either. Still, it is a bit disappointing to think that I could’ve had Mint instead. Oh well, that’s the risk I took.

Anyway, I noticed that the megaphone and football rug are now available again as seasonal items (for the Super Bowl coming up next month). They can be ordered through February 15th.

At the campsite, I found the old man from Breath of the Wild! 😮 Actually, it was Lionel the lion. But either way, I wasn’t interested. 😛

“I’ve lived at this campsite for 100 years…in spirit form.”

Today (January 18th) is the day that Admiral moved in. I went inside to welcome him to Forest.

Admiral: Hey, you! How are you doing? The name's Admiral. I got a real important question for you.

He wondered how he ended up on an island called Forest instead of Columbia. That means he apparently came from William’s town.

I spoke with Bones near the airport, and he wondered what I was doing near the “plane station.” 😛

Bones: Hey, buddy! Whaddaya doin' here at the plane station?

He was hoping that I had a friend coming over to bring snacks. Sorry, Bones. Not today.

Slugger’s Dugout

In the mail today, I found a pirate-treasure crown from Gullivarrr and a (fake) basic painting from Hornsby.

When I visited Marina, I was shocked to find her dusting her cupcakes! 😮 And no, that’s not a euphemism for something, she was literally dusting her cupcakes. 😛

Marina dusts her cupcakes.
I think she was adding more dust than she was removing.

When I spoke with her, she gave me some outdoor shorts to wear…in a snowstorm. Yeah, I think I’ll pass on your dusty cupcakes and snowy-weather shorts.

Before long, I headed over to Apple’s house to say goodbye to her. I’ll miss you, Apple! Best of luck to you!

Apple: THERE you are, superfan! Thanks for your advice. Kind of obvs, but I'm moving out!

Over at the plaza, I joined Eloise, Hornsby, Apollo, and Sasha for a K.K. Slider concert. He performed a song called Chillwave for us all.

Later, I went out to Lottie’s island to work. My buddy Tybalt was there, and he was talking about a place for his bat collection. 🦇

Tybalt: I want a place to enshrine a sweet bat collection!

I was imagining a remote bat-cave for him, and then the next screen showed the title of his request: A Slugger’s Dugout. He was talking about baseball bats. ⚾ 😛

For the first time, I actually put some effort into the yard. I added some stadium lights, fences, a cooler box, and some bottled beverages.

But there actually aren’t many baseball specific items, at least in terms of furniture. There is a baseball set (bat, ball, and glove together in one item)…and not much else. So I had to use cushions for the bases and home plate. It may not be a home run, but I am pleased with how it turned out.

He plays for the Tigers, of course.

Indoors, I used the stadium wall and backyard lawn to replicate the feel of a stadium. However, I wasn’t going to make another baseball diamond indoors. He can go outside to play. Indoors, I gave him a 50-inch LCD TV, a couple of throwback mitt chairs, a couple of plastic benches, a treadmill, and a few other baseball-related touches.

Niko showed up to tell me how to polish furniture, and then I wrapped up my time in Happy Home Paradise. Lottie paid me 6,000 Poki for my work. She then disappeared, and I found her by a building outside. She mentioned using some other buildings as facilities…starting with this building as a possible school.

Lottie: I think it was originally going to be a school of some kind. Why not pick up where they left off?

She said we’re going to need more clients to build these facilities, so that means I have more work to do here on Lottie’s island!
