Brewstoid

On Sunday, Boomer the penguin was in town, camping at the campsite. I did not invite him to move in.

Boomer: I'm on a camping trip, trying to meet good food.

After having some coffee, I earned 3,000 Nook Miles for drinking my 50th cup.

A few other quick notes about Sunday:

  • I returned a lost item to Bones, and he rewarded me with a skateboarding helmet.
  • Agent S asked for a new catchphrase, and I told her to say “in 2022.”
  • Wisp was in town, and he gave me a cool low table.

Yesterday, Apollo was in the Roost enjoying some coffee. After I had my usual cup of joe, Brewster surprised me by giving me a brewstoid!

Brewster: A brewstoid... I'll put it in your pockets for you...

I didn’t even know these were in the game! I put it on display in my basement, along with the rest of my gyroids.

Eloise said that she heard I was looking for some tortoise specs. I wasn’t, but she gave them to me anyway.

Eloise: Oh, I should have known better. Little birds will tweet any ol' thing, right or wrong.
Sounds like she’s talking about Twitter.

Today, Gulliver was in town and I dug up his communicator parts for him.

While I was in my house, I realized I never checked my stocking after hanging it up on Christmas Eve. So I looked inside and found Jingle’s photo. (I got one last year, so I didn’t really need it, but I’ll take it.)

Jingle's photo was inside! How sneaky of Santa...

On Friday night, I plan on opening my gate to friends around 11:00 p.m. Eastern time. That’s an hour later than my usual Friday Night Forest time. I may have a new attraction that I haven’t mentioned in the blog, but it will not be a race or obstacle course.

Starting Paradise

Today, I shot down a balloon present that contained some colorful juice. How in the world did this drink not spill either while floating through the air, or especially while being violently shot down out of the sky? 😛

All of my villagers were talking about how Toy Day went for them yesterday. They thanked me for the gifts I gave them and also for the gifts from Santa that I delivered.

When I went to speak to K.K. Slider at the plaza, three villagers were seated in the chairs there: Apple, Apollo, and Eloise. But Apollo and Eloise got up and left as I told K.K. to play a random song. K.K. started to sing K.K. Slack-Key (another oddly-named song), and Apple left just as the song was starting. I guess nobody likes me today.

K.K.: Right on. I'm tuned up and ready to roll. Who's in the mood for a little K.K. Slack-Key?

Today is Christmas, and I received a Nintendo eShop card. So I used part of it and bought the DLC, Happy Home Paradise. After downloading it, I met Lottie at the airport. I flew out to her island, where I also met Niko and Wardell.

Niko: Of course! Great to have you on the team! Just remember, I'm your guy if there's anything you need.

I put on my work uniform and got started! My first client is my former GameCube nemesis (and current Wild World snob) Olivia. She wanted her vacation home to be a portal to the “Land of Nod.” Whatever that means.

Lottie, to Olivia: Portal to the Land of Nod, yes? That's a wonderful theme!

I’m guessing it means she wants a home devoted to sleeping? Well, that does make sense for a cat. Since I’ve spent over 120 hours with Happy Home Designer, I’m familiar with the general concept of designing homes for clients.

I gave Olivia a starry-sky wall, galaxy flooring, and an assortment of furniture that I thought looked decent. I’m certainly no designing expert, but Olivia seemed to enjoy what I gave her. Even if she’s contractually obligated to enjoy it regardless. 😂

My reward was 6,000 Poki…that’s a new currency that can be used to buy items for sale on Lottie’s island. I didn’t spend them yet, but I can see how the integration between the DLC and the main game can be beneficial. It’s always good to have a new selection of items to choose from!

I stopped for the day at this point. The DLC is cool, and there seems to be much to unlock on Lottie’s island. But designing houses isn’t something I enjoy doing for long stretches, so one house per day is probably going to be my limit. But check back in future entries for more about my house designs. I’m not going to have a separate blog for Happy Home Paradise.

I hope you’re all having a Merry Christmas! See you next time!

Delivering Presents

Yesterday, Static asked me to play a treasure hunt game with him. He only gave me three minutes, and I barely found the item in time. But once I did, he revealed that the gift was his photo…which is now mine. 😛

Static: And that's not just any Static's photo. It's your Static's photo!
It’s Jeff’s Static’s photo! 😛

This was a duplicate, so I just put it in storage for now.

Jolly Redd’s ship was in town, and he had a rock-head statue that was different from the (fake) one I’ve seen before. So I felt pretty good about this one, and I bought it.

Today, I found a gyroid fragment on the beach (on my own island). I’m sure some people will enjoy having the extra chances to get gyroids, but I’m already swimming in them. 😛

I received my rock-head statue in the mail from Jolly Redd, and as I suspected, it was the real deal. I promptly donated it to the museum.

Toy Day is here, and I found Jingle hanging out near my central bridge. He gave me a recipe for some festive wrapping paper (even though I already knew how to make it), and told me he needed three sheets of it.

Jingle: What do you say, kid? Can you help? It would behoove the both of us... even though I'm kinda all set, hoof-wise.

I crafted them, and he gave me a set of Toy Day stockings as my first reward of the night. He also reminded me to hang them up in my house. Next, he gave me a magic bag filled with presents for each of my villagers. He asked me to deliver the presents to my neighbors, and I did.

Sasha: Those clothes! That bag! And in the bag... Could it be...

I didn’t need to dress up like Santa…but I did anyway, at least once I stopped by Able Sisters. However, they didn’t have the boots…so I just bought red sandals. 😂

Apollo: Whoa! you're a braver eagle'n me, carryin' around a bag like that on Toy Day and dressed like Santa.
You look a bit Santa-ish yourself!

Some of them gave me gifts in return, which were some of the toy items that the Nooklings have been selling this month.

Agent S hands me a gift.

Once I finished delivering all the presents from Santa, Jingle gave me a recipe for a gift pile (which I already had) and a Toy Day sleigh.

But I wasn’t done just yet! The villagers expected me to do a gift exchange with them (since the first batch of presents were from Santa, not me). So I made some brown-sugar cupcakes for all my villagers and wrapped them up. We all exchanged gifts, and it was lovely. 🙂

Hornsby: Wow! For me? Really? Seriously? Some brown-sugar cupcakes?

I hope you all had a happy Toy Day, and I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season in general! See you tomorrow! 🎄
