Yay Day 2020

It’s been a full week since the last entry, and I played almost every day. A lot has happened, so I’m going to divide this entry into sections for each day.

Monday

At the start of the week, I saw Dr. Shrunk from across the river and I tried to wave to him. But even though he was (blankly) looking in my direction, he wouldn’t wave. It’s probably because he’s an NPC and not a villager, but I’m still going to take it personally.

Dr. Shrunk stands across the river from me, but won't wave to me.

I bought a lovely carpet at Nookington’s, and I mailed it to Rosie. I knew it would match her room.

Teddy again told he was going to give me a free item, and then said he forgot to bring it. I was sick of him playing this prank, so I had to pull a little prank of my own.

Teddy flips out of a pitfall in Animal Crossing: Wild World (ACWW).
I buried him.

I saw two snowballs that weren’t very far apart, so I built myself a snowman. He turned out perfect. ☃

A snowman that Jeff built in ACWW.

Tuesday

Rosie replied to my letter, and she sent me a palace tile. I also had a letter from the snowman; he sent me a snowman fridge. I put it in my house, replacing my regular refrigerator that I used to access my storage.

Jeff's snowman fridge is a new addition to his snowman themed room.

When I visited Rosie, I was happy to see that she installed the lovely carpet in her house.

Rosie's pink room now features a lovely carpet.

Wednesday

Rosie was talking about Yay Day, and she said she would have to come up with something nice to say about me that was believable! Wow, Rosie is usually so sweet, but that was pretty rude.

Rosie: I'm gonna have to come up with something nice to say about you that's believable.

Mathilda asked me for a fossil, so I gave her a fern fossil that I already had in my pockets. In return, she gave me a stone wall.

Friday

Even though I played on Thursday, nothing of interest happened. On Friday, I gave Kabuki another piece of green furniture–a green bed. He rewarded me with 710 bells.

I also gave Mathilda another fossil, an ammonite, and she gave me 510 bells.

Teddy was walking around outside, but I didn’t speak to him.

Sunday

I did not play yesterday (Saturday), but I was still quite to surprised to find a goodbye letter from Teddy in the mail today!

Ooooo yeah, Jeff! Hey, yo! I gotta hit the road! There's another town that needs to see my totally huge guns! Get pumped! -Teddy

Sometimes villagers stick around for two days while they’re packed up, so it’s a bit confusing as to why that doesn’t always happen. But still, I’m glad Teddy is the one that moved out. Maybe he’s been reading my blog and saw that he wasn’t wanted. Or maybe it was the pitfall. 😂

Anyway, Today is Yay Day…the day to give villagers compliments. Big Top got things started by complimenting me…he said I was cool like a banana split.

Big Top: Hey, J-bot! You're so cool! You're like a banana split!

In return, I told him he is a superhero.

Kabuki told me I look so good that the fruit is turning to cobbler on the trees. I told him he’s a ninja. I also told Goldie she’s a good girl, I told Margie she’s a sweetie, and I told Rosie she’s a princess.

Rosie: C'mon! Say something amazing! Treat me like a pretty princess!

I was running out of compliments, so I kind of avoided Mathilda. 😛

Testing the Golden Watering Can

Not in Mint Condition

On Thursday, Mint had her belongings all packed up. She was preparing to move out of town, and I decided to let her go. Even though I generally like Mint as a character, she had started to rub me the wrong way in Wild World (just as Static and Teddy have). I’m sure our paths will cross again in another game and we’ll get along better then.

Mint, saying goodbye: Take care of yourself!

She was still packed up on Friday, but she was gone by Saturday. This is the goodbye letter she sent me. She even insulted me on her way out of town.

Dear Jeff, I'm moving! And I'm kinda sad. Forest was good to me...although YOU were a real handful! Don't forget Mint!
She doesn’t mince her words.

Sick as a Dog

I had continued giving Goldie medicine on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. So on Saturday, she was finally feeling better. She gave me a fairy tale wall to thank me.

BFF = Best Forest Friend

Margie told me I was her best friend in Forest…so she had a special gift for me. It was her picture!

Margie: You're the best friend I've got here in Forest, so I want to give you this.

I went home to put it in my house and take a look at it. Margie’s favorite quote is “Keep your feet on the ground.” This is what my villager pic collection currently looks like:

Margie's pic is Jeff's newest addition to his villager pic collection.

Does the Golden Watering Can Water 9 Squares?

I found a spot where there were three wilted flowers near each other, so I decided to conduct a test. I wanted to see if the golden watering can waters as many spaces as it does in City Folk and New Leaf. Take a look at the layout of the wilted flowers here:

Three wilted flowers in Animal Crossing: Wild World.

I stood all the way against the tree, and then faced south so I was sure I was watering the flower directly in front of me (the center one, if you will).

The next day (Sunday, which is today), I checked the results. The two flowers that were lined up horizontally or vertically with the watered spot were revived. But the flower that was diagonal to the watered spot was dead and gone.

The results of Jeff's test: Two flowers are revived, and one is gone.

So this is what the golden watering can waters in ACWW, with “x” being the spot watered, and the green squares being the spots that receive water.

The golden watering can grid for Animal Crossing: Wild World.

So it does not water all 9 squares in Wild World, although it does in City Folk and New Leaf. That’s rather disappointing.

New House

I spotted a new house in town…that was quick! Mathilda the black kangaroo just moved in.

Mathilda: It's my first night all alone! No more stupid roommates!
Mathilda? I wonder if she’ll be a nice addition to Forest.

I’ve been continuing to give Big Top and Kabuki new green furniture when I can. Kabuki’s house in particular is really starting to look nice! It’s like a brand new house!

Kabuki's house of green furniture in Animal Crossing: Wild World.

That is one aspect of ACWW that I never fully appreciated until very recently. Each villager consistently asks for furniture of a certain color or theme, and you can watch their house come together each time you help them out. It’s surprisingly satisfying, knowing you played a big role in how their house looks.

Today, I posted a new video that takes a look at some of the typos and mistakes I’ve encountered in the Animal Crossing series. It’s only two minutes long, so I hope you’ll give it a watch!

See you all next time! 🙂

Golden Watering Can

Big Top has followed in Kabuki’s footsteps by asking me for green furniture. On Sunday, I gave him a round cactus and he gave me a backyard lawn in exchange. At least he finally has a piece of furniture in his house! He’s had nothing but fish for months!

Rosie asked for more pink furniture, and I gave her a lovely bed. In return, she gave me a robo-clock. Here is an updated look at her house:

Rosie's room of pink furniture in Animal Crossing: Wild World.

I had a chat with Kabuki next to Mint’s house, and he said this place reminded him of a makeup compact he had before. That surprised me at first, but then again, maybe those stripes and markings on his face are just makeup? Like war paint or something? Hmm, I don’t know.

Kabuki: Hey! This place always brings up memories of this makeup compact I had...

Yesterday, I met up with Saharah in front of town hall. She asked me to make a delivery to Pelly. So I went inside and gave Pelly the wall package.

Pelly: Oh, what's this? Me: Delivery!

After she thanked me, I spoke with her again. To my surprise, she also had a delivery for me!

Pelly: Oh, Jeff, I have a delivery for you! Tee hee hee!

That’s right, she gave me the golden watering can! Although, my enthusiasm was dampened a bit when she told me the can doesn’t have any specific benefits. Wait, is that true? 😲 Well, I know Wild World has gold roses, so it must still turn wilted black roses into gold roses. But I’m not sure if it waters 9 squares like it does in City Folk and New Leaf. I assumed it would, but Pelly has got me wondering.

Pelly: Doesn't it feel good in your hand? Though there aren't any specific benefits...

Back outside, Saharah next asked me to make a delivery to Mabel. So I took the package to Able Sisters.

Mabel: Oh! Is that the product I ordered from Saharah?
Sew how do you like it?

I returned to Saharah, and she offered me an industrial wall or sandlot. I chose the sandlot, even though I had no intentions of keeping it.

Today, Big Top wanted more green furniture; I gave him another cactus and he rewarded me with 510 bells.

When I ran into Rosie, she told me she found the perfect thing for me while out shopping.

Rosie: I saw this thing and was like 'That is SO perfect!' So I got it for you!

That sounded nice of her. At least until she told me what it was.

Rosie: Here ya go, but no! You're meant to have my witch shirt!

Are you calling me a witch? How dare you. After I furnished your entire house with furniture of your favorite color? Rude.

Goldie has caught another cold, so I gave her some medicine.

Kabuki again asked for green furniture, so I gave him a green desk. In return, he gave me a citrus carpet.

Even though I now have the golden watering can, I’m still planning to play frequently for a while. Maybe not every day, but still several times a week. I’m trying to get platinum status at Nook’s, and I’m hoping to find those last two paintings I need. Have a good day, and I’ll see you next time!
