Shot Down 1st UFO!

I visited Benedict today, and he thought I came over just to hear his story about how he dug up all his fossils.

Benedict: Oh! I get it! You came to hear my story about how I dig up fossils, huh.

Not true! In fact, I already know where his fossils came from…me! I dug them up for him! He’s lucky if he can dig out the birdseed from between his toes. 😛

Victoria told me that all her dresses shrunk, so she asked me for some new clothes. I went to Able Sisters and bought her a U R here shirt. I took it to her, and she thanked me by giving me a lil bro’s hat (that’s the Luigi hat). I decided to put it on.

As I walked near Victoria’s house, I heard a UFO! I looked up, and it was traveling from right to left…that meant I had a chance at it! I changed to my slingshot as quickly as I could and started to run to the west. I kept running into trees, and that slowed me down.

I got to the river and ran out of room. So I fired a shot up as the UFO was right above me, but still moving west as I watched my shot go up into the air, seemingly in slow motion. I was not feeling confident about the shot, but…

Pow! I got it! I couldn’t believe it! This was the first time I’ve shot down a UFO in Wild World! I was legitimately excited! 😀

So many people dismiss the UFOs from Wild World and City Folk as an unnecessary feature. But it’s about the thrill, the adrenaline rush, the challenge of it. It’s something that the Animal Crossing series is otherwise missing.

After shooting it down, the process is a bit different from City Folk. For one thing, it crash lands right away. (In ACCF, it apparently crashes into the ocean, and then washes ashore the next day).

An unidentified object has crashed in our town!

Another difference is that you must recover five UFO parts (vs. one spaceship part in ACCF). Oh, and Gulliver’s ship is named the Porpoise 5000.

Gulliver: Tell me, O kindly thing, will you find the missing parts to my Porpoise 5000?

Big Top was nearby, so I spoke to him to see if he had any special dialogue considering he just witnessed a UFO crashing to earth right in front on him. But the only thing on his mind was catching some air with a net, to bottle and sell it.

Big Top: I'm gonna use this net to catch air. Then...

As I searched for the gears, I got another surprise. Victoria gave me her photo! It’s a Vic pic!

Victoria: Here, I ate it! It's a picture! Of ME! Isn't it just the cutest EVER?!

But it didn’t take me long to round up all five UFO parts.

I took the parts back to Gulliver, and he rewarded me with a pagoda. It’s very small compared to the New Horizons version!

The pagoda in Animal Crossing: Wild World (ACWW).

While I was home, I also put Victoria’s pic in my villager photo room. Her favorite quote is “CATERWAULING CARROT CAKE!” Yes, it’s in all caps like that.

Have a great day, everyone! I’ll be back with another entry next week. 🙂

Wild Wet West

Wendell the starving artist was in town today, so I caught a fish to give him. It turned out to be a crucian carp, and he gave me a “west pattern” for it.

The west pattern from Wendell in Animal Crossing: Wild World.

It’s part of the street series. Even though it’s called a west pattern, it’s just a horizontal stretch of road. It just as easily could have been called east pattern. 😛

As for Wendell, he apparently enjoyed the fish…but he commented that he would really like to eat some red turnips some day. Keep dreaming, pal. 😀

Wendell: Juh-just once, I'd like to eat a bellyful of the delicacy called red turnips.

Able Sisters had some sporty shades for sale, and I decided to buy them. I used to wear these in City Folk, and they’ll be good to have, with spring here and summer on the way.

Mabel: Ohh, yes, you're looking at some sporty shades. The price is 160 bells.

It was storming in town today though, and the rain was really coming down hard. Antonio loves the rain, because he says his muscles look bigger when his shirt gets wet and clingy.

Antonio: Me, I love it! When my shirt gets all wet and clingy, my muscles look bigger!

Victoria was all packed up to move out of town, but I changed her mind (after many attempts).

When I visited Margie, she wondered what it would be like to have a best friend in Forest…and if she’d be a nice, well-grounded girl like her.

Margie: I wonder if she'd be a nice, normal, well-grounded girl, like me...

Wow. So I guess I’m not Margie’s best friend after all. 🙁

Mathilda was mad that the Happy Room Academy only gave her room a score of 708 points. But I was more entertained by the fact that her catchphrase fit the conversation.

Mathilda: Sheesh! What gives them the right to evaluate MY house, anyway! Roo'd!

Kabuki asked me if I’d be interested in a golden cotton swab…

Kabuki: If there was such a thing as a golden cotton swab...

And it sounded like a good idea, so I told him I wanted one. But then he backtracked, saying he didn’t have one to give me. It’s probably for the best, though. If it was golden, it was probably from his ear wax anyway, and I don’t need that.

That’s all for today. Have a great day, and a wonderful weekend! 🙂

Mochi Mansion

Big Top told me about a dream he had the other night. He said he lived in a mansion that looked like a castle, but it was made out of mochi (a Japanese rice cake). So he never got hungry. 😛

Big Top: In the dream, I was living in this huge, castle-lookin' house. Yeah, like a mansion.

While I was picking up fruit near Able Sisters, I saw (and heard) a UFO. Unfortunately, it was almost to the edge of town and I was too far away to have a chance at it, so I didn’t even bother running up.

I’m noticing that I see more random UFOs in Wild World than I did in City Folk. I think the main reason is that in Wild World, you can see/hear them from anywhere in town. In City Folk, you have to be near them to even hear them. I know I still need to shoot one down in Wild World, but I’ll have to prepare to go UFO hunting at some point. 😛 And that probably won’t be anytime soon, since I’m playing a lot of New Horizons right now.

I saw Antonio over by the bulletin board, so I went to chat with him. But as I did, and the tree blocking my sight disappeared, I was surprised to see not only two villagers, but two nets. For a split second, I wasn’t sure what I was looking at. 😛

Antonio and Mathilda, both holding nets, standing next to each other.

I didn’t even realize that Mathilda was standing there with him. Antonio just said that if I wanted to catch a flea, a net might not be my best choice. But I wonder what Antonio and Mathilda were doing there behind that tree…catching fleas off each other? I doubt it. 😛

Meanwhile, Victoria was so hungry that she could eat a horse house.

Victoria: Your house, I ate it! What the heck's going on?! It got SOOOO big!

Surprisingly, nobody tried to move out of town this week. Have a great day, and I’ll see you next time!
