Golden Slingshot

Saharah was in town on Wednesday. I helped her out by delivering some wallpaper to Pelly and some carpeting to Blathers. When I was done, Saharah offered me a lunar horizon or a daisy meadow.

Saharah: Do you want a lunar horizon or a daisy meadow?

That was an easy decision, because I’ve been hoping for the lunar horizon for my space room. And now I have it.

My space room as of July 28, 2021.

I kept the game open for an hour or so to check for balloon presents every ten minutes. I shot down a red balloon (fire hydrant), a yellow balloon (blue box), and a purple balloon (a screen). So I’ve now shot down at least 21 balloons, and still no gold slingshot.

A few other quick notes about Wednesday:

  • Peanut was still sick, so I gave her some more medicine.
  • Rowan was packed up to move out, but I convinced him to stay.
  • I found a retro stereo in the recycle bin.

Today, it finally appeared. The balloon I’ve been waiting for!

The balloon carrying my golden slingshot!
The 22nd time’s the charm!

It was my golden slingshot, at last!

I got the golden slingshot! I'm right on target!

I tested it out, and at first, I thought it was only shooting one pellet at a time. And it does appear that way…on the lower screen. But once the shot gets to the upper screen, that’s when it separates into three pellets. I’m glad to finally have this. Just one more golden tool to go!

Peanut was still sick today, so I gave her medicine once again. Not much else was going on, but that was fine with me. I feel like my mission was accomplished for today.

If I get lucky and Pascal shows up to give me the golden axe tomorrow, I’ll be back with another entry then. Otherwise, I’ll be back next week. In the meantime, I hope you’ll check out my latest Wild World video, covering highlights from April 24th through June 19th.

Rolf’s Pic

I grabbed my slingshot today and headed up to the north part of town. But before any balloons floated by, Rolf approached me, pinged me, and gave me his picture! Wow!

Rolf: Here... this is, uh, my picture, grrrolf. Here's hoping you like it.

Three minutes later, a balloon present floated by. I shot it down, and it contained a tall lantern. Wait, not my golden slingshot? Hmm.

Anyway, I returned home to put Rolf’s pic in my villager photo room. His favorite quote is “I could eat you for lunch, you know.” Wow, that’s harsh. 😛

Quote on Rolf's pic: I could eat you for lunch, you know.

That’s not the same quote he has in New Leaf. But I hit a milestone with this pic, because it’s my 20th villager picture! Here’s a look at them all.

My 20 villager pics.

Back outside, Olivia showed me a letter she received from a secret admirer. Apparently her secret admirer thinks she looks like a potato. 😂

I returned to the gate, where I waited for the next balloon present. This one was yellow, and it contained a clackercart. A bit later, I shot down the last balloon of the day: a purple one that contained a water bird.

As for the golden slingshot, the online guides I’ve seen say it will appear by the 16th balloon…and I’ve now shot down 18. And I’m sure I did not miss it (or any balloon) today, because I went up to the gate at every xx:x4 during my session.

So it seems that the online guides aren’t entirely accurate, or at least not complete. Perhaps there’s some randomness involved and it won’t always be the 16th balloon. At any rate, I’ll keep trying later in the week and I’ll let you know what happens!

Bunnie apparently thought I caught her doing something embarrassing or suspicious, and she begged me not to tell anyone. The only problem was that I didn’t actually see anything out of the ordinary. I guess it’s her lucky day. 😛

Bunnie: Listen... Promise me you won't tell what I was just doing here, hop to it!

Peanut was still sick with a cold, so I gave her some more medicine.

Before wrapping up my game for the day, I caught a jewel beetle, a birdwing butterfly, and an emperor butterfly…all in a span of 30 seconds! They sold for a total of 7,900 bells. That might not be a huge sum, but it’s pretty good for 30 seconds of work. 😉

Holding up a birdwing butterfly I caught in Animal Crossing: Wild World (ACWW).

Unfortunately, there were no visitors in town today. But I’ll be back later in the week with another update or two.

Gracie Two-Ball

By Wednesday, Rolf was over his cold. He thanked me again for the medicine, and he gave me a wet roadway sign.

Rolf: Anyway, I'm back and better than ever.

Today, I shot down three balloon presents. They gave me a daffodil table, a lovely chair, and a cream sofa. I found it hard to believe that I haven’t shot down enough for the golden slingshot yet! So I (just now) searched through my previous blog entries… Including the three balloons from today, that makes a total of 15! So that means my very next balloon should be the golden slingshot! 👍

Peanut is the latest villager to catch a cold. I swear, this town can’t go more than two days without someone being sick. Fortunately for Peanut, I had some medicine to give her.

Peanut: Is that medicine? Or am I hallucinating? GET 'EM OFF ME!!! Oh, like, whoa...

Rolf was packed up and ready to move today…but I’m not letting him go until I get his picture.

Gracie was in town, so I took her fashion quiz. I used my normal strategy, which is to answer how I think Gracie herself would answer…and it paid off again. I earned my Fashionista badge, and I then paid her 5,000 bells for some new fashion. In return, she gave me a two-ball shirt.

Gracie: Ready...and GO!

Surprisingly, there was no accessory this time. 🤷 I confirmed this by trying to remove the accessory that I wasn’t wearing. The game promptly told me that I have nothing.

You have nothing!
Thanks for reminding me.

Bunnie asked me for a new catchphrase, and I normally don’t bother with these requests. But she was now using Big Top’s catchphrase of “villain,” and I really don’t like when villagers use catchphrases that are meant for someone else. 😛 So I told her to say “hop to it” instead.

Bunnie: Hop to it! Hop to it! Hop to it! Hop to it!
I may regret this decision real soon if she keeps repeating it this much.

Just before wrapping up my day, I found a green counter in the recycle bin at town hall. But despite that free gift, it was kind of a disappointing week. Pascal didn’t show up, so I never got my golden axe. And I didn’t get my golden slingshot either, although I now know I’m very, very close. So next week should be better. Hope to see you then!
