Scary Genes

On Wednesday, I had a chat with Filbert just outside of the museum. He was talking about Blathers and Celeste, and how they look so much alike.

Filbert: The two of them look so much alike, it's crazy.

He said that genes are really scary sometimes. 😆

Filbert: Genes are really scary sometimes, yip yip.
Wait until you meet Timmy and Tommy.

Today, I noticed that Caroline was croaking. She was saying “rrrrribbit” as her catchphrase! Maybe her genes are scary too, turning her into a frog? 😆 Just kidding; she must have learned this from Drift.

Caroline: Anyway, did you need something, rrrrribbit?

It just feels so wrong for Caroline to be saying this. 😆

Truffles asked me to deliver a letter to Filbert, and of course I helped out. Filbert didn’t understand why I was delivering it, wondering if Truffles was too lazy to do it herself. (Yes, she is.)

Filbert: What's up with that? Was Truffles too lazy to do it, yip yip?
Yip yip, indeed.

But he showed me the letter she sent him. Not only did Truffles call Filbert “supercutie,” but she signed the letter as the “it” girl. 😆

To supercutie Filbert,

When I returned to Truffles, she stonewalled me! No, literally. She gave me a stone wall. 😆

Whitney asked me for some new clothes, so I had that request in mind when I saw Gracie was here. I normally ignore Gracie when she’s in town, but I decided to take her fashion quiz this time.

Gracie: Show me how saucy and savvy you really are! Here's your first question!

As always, I try to answer the questions how I imagine Gracie would answer them herself. She handed me a card with my result…but before I could read it, she said this.

Gracie: Darling... You have to start with hygiene!

I thought that didn’t bode well for my rating, but I actually did earn a fashionista badge regardless. I then paid 5,000 for a new outfit, and this is what she did to me:

Trying on a sandwich shirt and an afro wig.

It was a sandwich shirt and an afro wig. I thought about giving the sandwich shirt to Whitney, but I then decided to keep it on for myself. It’s been a while since I’ve changed outfits, after all. I did not keep the wig on, though.

When I went to Whitney’s house, I gave her my old bunny shirt. She gave conflicting statements about whether she liked it or not, but she put it on regardless.

Whitney: Wow! Who knew that you had such great taste in clothes, snappy!
Whitney: ...Well, I guess you deserve a reward anyway.

Waffling Whitney rewarded me with 510 bells.

Anyway, I posted my latest video episode this week, Episode 70. It includes me pitfalling Eloise, and other events of the past month…along with additional puns that weren’t in the blog. Check it out if you haven’t already.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

The Way of the Owl

Octavian was still sick yesterday, so I gave him some more medicine. But by today, he was feeling better. He thanked me by giving me a parquet floor.

Octavian: Thanks for watchin' my back when I was down.

Last week, I mentioned that Whitney’s house looks really nice. I’m not the only one who thinks so, because she told me that the Happy Room Academy gave her 5,071 points.

Whitney: The result? 5,071 points! Not bad, huh? In fact, it's pretty great!

That might not sound high compared to player houses (which are bigger and have multiple rooms), but that’s really high for a villager! Usually when they say their house score, it’s a 3-digit score.

When I visited Drift today, he asked if I thought his house was nice. The two options were “Yeah!” and “I’ve seen better.” Since I saw the same dialogue recently and answered “yeah,” I decided to pick the other option today, just to see how he reacted. And he didn’t disappoint. 😆

Drift: Whoa, champ! Better check yourself before I wreck you, rrrrribbit!
Don’t wreck me, frog boy. I’m just messing with you. 😆

I found a note in a bottle on the beach, and it was a bit of a downer.

Listen up! If you're reading this, it's probably too late for me! Take care of things for me, would you? Farewell.

Saharah was in town, and she asked me to make some deliveries for her. The first one was a carpet for Blathers, who I had to wake up. Being sleepy in daytime is “the way of the owl,” he said. 🦉

Blathers: I can't help but be sleepy during the day, I'm afraid. 'Tis the way of the owl!

Next, I took a carpet for Phyllis over to town hall (and gave it to Pelly). Saharah then rewarded me with a shoji screen.

Saharah: Do you want a shoji screen or a lunar surface?

When I visited Caroline, she told me she would like some pink furniture. As I was walking out her door, I realized that I actually had a piece of pink lovely furniture in my pockets already! So I went right back in and gave her the lovely dresser.

Caroline: How in the world did you know I was into collecting pink furniture?
You literally just asked me for it.

She rewarded me with a round carpet. I left and re-entered her house again, just to see if she put the dresser on display; she did.

Me, looking into Caroline's dresser: Wow! Is it THAT hard to clean up a little before having guests over?
How could it be that messy already???

Have a great day (or night), and I’ll see you next time! Never Stop Crossing!

Update: I just wanted to add that I’m now on Bluesky! Follow me there if you’d like!

Acorn Festival 2024

The Acorn Festival is underway, and Cornimer was standing outside of town hall for the event. He started things off by giving me my fortune.

Your secret fortune: Mini Acorn. Life: 50-50 chance. Hopes: Make a decision. Karma: Do ten chin-ups. Look behind you!

I have a 50-50 chance at life? I’m not sure what that means, but I seem to be alive at the moment, so I guess I’m doing okay? 😆

I gave him my first six acorns, and he gave me a mush stool.

Cornimer: And remember, li'l oakie... The great and mighty Cornimer is always watching!

I went around town, picking up acorns as I went. Filbert told me that it was raining acorns! That’s not exactly true, but I knew what he meant. Kinda. 😛

Filbert: It's raining acorns! They're just falling from the sky!

Many of my villagers were talking about Cornimer, and in some cases, they were even singing songs about him.

Bones: Take off your hat! And look around! 'Cause Cornimer has come to town!

And Truffles? Well, she was being her usual rude self.

Truffles: I'm doing SOOOOO good!! ...WHAT?! You don't CARE how I'm doing?! JEALOUS MUCH?!

At GameStop Nookington’s, I traded in some used video games rotten acorns for some big money. 😉

Tom Nook: Let's see, all together, I'll pay 8 bells for everything!

You can’t give rotten acorns to Tortimer, so I filled up the recycle bin with them, and just sold the rest for 2 bells apiece.

I got to see the inside of Whitney’s house now that she is all unpacked, and it looks nice!

The inside of Whitney's house in Animal Crossing: Wild World (ACWW).

Octavian was still sick with a cold, so I gave him another dose of medicine.

By the time I finished cleaning up all the acorns, I had given Tortimer 109 acorns in total. He gave me seven pieces of furniture in return: a mush lamp, stool, chair, stand, end table, dresser, and closet.

Cornimer: The number of acorns you've given me is 109!

I checked my storage to see if I had any leftover acorns there, but I didn’t. So I sold my seven mush items at the store, and Tom Nook paid 15,600 bells for them all.

The Acorn Festival continues through Sunday, so you still have time to check it out for yourself! Good luck out there!
