Curt Shilling…for Lyle

On Wednesday, I received an odd letter from Mom in the mail. She told me to “eat them, raise them, or sell them.” She then “clarified” (but not really) by saying that she’s not talking about my animal friends! So what was she talking about? 🤔

Dear Jeff, Eat them, raise them, or sell them. No, I'm not talking about your little animal friends! I'd eat it. -Love, Mom
I like the bubble wrap paper!

I got the answer when I saw the attached item: a peach. Okay, that makes more sense. 😛 The peach is a foreign fruit, but it’s not one that I needed.

Filbert asked me to deliver a letter to Tank, and Tank was nice enough to show me the letter. It was just as weird as you’d expect from Filbert:

To my bud, Tank, I was so hungry that I ate your letter! You'll come see me again tomorrow, right? Yay! See you! -Filbert
Wow, he literally ate his words. That’s one way to stamp out hunger.

When I returned to Filbert, he thanked me for delivering the letter. He also gave me a fairy-tale wall.

Yesterday, there was a new “Talking to Myself” message posted to the bulletin board. It was about having picnics by yourself. 🧺

-Talking to Myself- As a kid, I always wanted to have picnics by myself. But then I got lonely, so I stopped. Too bad...

Today, Curt started telling me a story about how he slipped on the ice and got snow up his nose! 😆 I like this story already!

Curt: After I slipped on the ice and got all this snow up my nose...

But his amusing story took a sudden turn. It turns out that he was just shilling for Lyle (who was in town today) and his insurance company!

Curt: ...I thought that I should have gotten insurance... Hindsight IS always 20/20.
He had snow up his nose, but insurance on his mind.

Don’t help out Lyle, man! They otter be ashamed of themselves.

Tank was talking about the brain freeze you get from a really cold drink, and he said it makes him feel like he’s getting “smarter and smarterer.”

Tank: I just FEEL myself getting smarter and smarterer... kerPOW!

Somehow, I don’t think that’s what’s happening. 😉

If you haven’t seen my latest Wild World video, which I posted last weekend, here it is. It’s episode 74:

See you next time!

Snacking on Dirt

On Wednesday, Whitney told me that she never buys something just because everyone else wants it. She does her own thing, and dances to her own beat. I guess that makes her a real lone wolf.

Whitney: I don't do things because everyone else is doing it. I dance to my own beat!

Yesterday, I found Pascal down by the beach. He had an ocean-themed pun for me. 😛

Pascal: The ocean never speaks, man. It just waves.

Speaking of puns, I recently uploaded a New Horizons Art Guide that includes a pun for every work of art in the game. I know not all of you play New Horizons, but any Animal Crossing player is going to be familiar with many of the paintings shown there. Check it out if you’d like.

Anyway, Pascal gave me a ship cannon before he jumped into the water.

When I ran into Curt, he surprised me some dialogue I don’t recall seeing before: He told me that his grandpappy was a paleontologist who found a bunch of rare bones!

Curt: You know, my grandpappy was a really famous paleontologist.

Curt then spread some dirt about good ol’ grandpappy: Apparently he liked to snack on dirt!

Curt: 'Course, he had this weird habit of snacking on dirt, so that might have helped.

I hope he at least washed it first. 😉 I thought Curt was about to ask me for a fossil, but he didn’t. The conversation just ended there. 🤷‍♂️

I’m not saying Animal Crossing: Wild World is a weird game or anything, but a rhinoceros wearing a tuxedo just asked me if it was a good time to catch a cockroach.

Tank: Do you think this is a good time of day to catch a cockroach?

Of course, I said yes. I mean, when isn’t it a good time to catch a cockroach? 😆 Tank then told me that even if he catches one, he’s not going to give it to me. Aww, how disappointing. 😆

Tank: But even if I catch one, I'm not giving it to you!

Today is Valentine’s Day, and I didn’t remember if Brewster serves hot chocolate for the occasion in this game. (He does in later games.) But I went to the Roost just to check…and he just served me normal coffee. Oh well. ☕

Brewster: The only coffee I serve here is my own special house blend.

Caroline asked me for some pink furniture, so I went to the shop to see what they had. The only thing that looked pink was this tulip table. I bought it for 1,520 bells.

The tulip table in Animal Crossing: Wild World. I thought it looked pink, but is it...?

I took it back to Caroline…and she refused it. It’s not pink enough for her. Oof. It totally looks pink to me, but what do I know?

Caroline: Thanks for the...interesting tulip table, but it's not what I need.

Oh well. She’s not getting anything pink, then. Not even a valentine. 💝

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! I’ll be back with another entry next week. 💖

Bright Nights 2025

As I started up the game tonight, I was greeted with a notice that said the Bright Nights are underway.

Hey, everybody! The Bright Nights are here!

A letter from the postal division at town hall arrived in the mail, informing me that I earned 72,300 bells in interest this month. Nice!

When I visited Curt, he told me he was over his cold and feeling better than ever. He thanked me for the medicine by giving me a classic table. I also noticed that he moved his furniture so that the left half of his house was completely empty.

Curt's house with all of his furniture on the right side.

So both he, and his house, are now all right.

Each villager’s house is decorated with festive lights for Bright Nights, as are many cedar trees around town. This is Filbert’s house.

Filbert's house lit up for Bright Nights 2025.

And each villager (at least the ones that are outdoors) will boast about their lights, suggesting that their house is the best one in town.

Filbert: Huh huh huh! My house is all aglow, like a starry night sky! Isn't it pretty?

My buddy Bones wanted to hear how great his house looked, and he asked me to tell Tortimer about it.

Bones: Hey, champ! Doesn't my house look all sparkly?

So I went over to check out his house. Of course, all of the homes look pretty much the same. But for me, the differentiating factor is generally the number of lit-up trees near the house. Bones actually had three decorated trees near his house, although I could only fit two of them on-screen at a time.

And that’s about as good as it gets. So I went back to town hall and told Tortimer that Bones was my choice for the winner.

Tortimer: Hm, Dones you say? Well, I can see how you would pick that one.

After that, I had to go tell Bones the good news. He said that Tank sneered at his work and called him a hack, but Bones was very happy that I appreciated his decorations. Awww.

Bones: I'm glad YOU appreciate what I've done, for a bite!

I’d call this a successful Bright Nights festival! The event runs through Sunday, though, so you still have time if you haven’t played it yet!

I’ll see you next time. Never Stop Crossing!
