The Meaning of Petunias

Saharah was in town on Wednesday, and she asked me to make some deliveries for her. So I delivered some wallpaper to Tom Nook, some wallpaper to Mabel, and some carpeting to Phyllis.

Saharah: Done! It is finally done! Thank you so much for your help, friend!

She rewarded me with a blue tarp.

On the bulletin board, I found a new “Talking to Myself” post. The author is considering sending a big cookie to her dad on his birthday. 🍪

-Talking to Myself- I'm thinking about what to send my dad for his next birthday... Maybe he wants a big cookie! Yummy!

Tonight, Caroline was telling me about the meanings of flowers. She said that petunias can either mean “your presence soothes me” or “I totally resent you.”

Caroline: Get this: a petunia can mean either that your presence soothes me...
Caroline: ...or that I totally resent you and want nothing to do with you!

Interesting. But if it was the latter meaning, then why would you giving that person a flower anyway? 🤔

At the Roost, K.K. Slider performed Go K.K. Rider for me. Good song.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: Go K.K. Rider!!

Bones told me there are three things that would turn his house into a “severe place:” Some bubble tea, a harmonica, and him. Sounds good. I wouldn’t mind seeing a dog play the harmonica. 😛

Bones: Some buble tea! A harmonica! And me!

Dotty has been sick lately, so I gave her some medicine Wednesday, yesterday, and again tonight. Get well soon, Dotty!

Bright Nights 2024

It’s Bright Nights week in Wild World, and villagers’ homes (and some cedar trees) are decorated with festive colored lights. Here’s a photo of Eloise’s and Caroline’s homes:

The decorated house of Eloise and Caroline during Bright Nights.

After looking around at all of the houses, I decided that I liked Octavian’s house best (mainly due to the proximity to decorated trees).

Outside of town hall, Tortimer was enjoying the event…maybe a little too much. 😛

Tortimer: Brrrr-right! Cha-cha-cha! Brrrrr-right! Cha-cha-cha!

I told him that Octavian’s house was my favorite, and he said he would let Octavian know of my choice. But I saw Octavian in the background, so I went to speak him immediately. Somehow, he had already heard the news. He thanked me and said he owes me a root beer.

Octavian: You know, kiddo, maybe I owe you a root beer, yip yip!

I found a note in a bottle on the beach, but it was just an advertisement for Lyle’s insurance. I would’ve thrown it back into the sea if I could have. 😛

Valued Patron Some Stranger: This special offer is just for you! Sign up now, before it's too late! Don't be fooled by imitations! -Your insurance agent, Lyle

If you haven’t seen the lights of Bright Nights yet, you have through the weekend. Enjoy the sights! The snow will be gone in a few weeks too!

Bad Training Advice

Yesterday, I shot down Gulliver’s UFO. When the camera cut to the crash site, I saw Octavian there! Did the UFO almost land on him, like it did to Eloise in November? Or did Octavian get off the UFO? He does have a space-themed house and he looks a bit like an alien! Maybe Gulliver was just his Uber ride home after a shopping trip in another galaxy. 😛

Octavian walks around immediately after a UFO crash.

I rushed over to the crash site, and Octavian wouldn’t discuss the elephant in the room. He made no mention of the crashed UFO right next to him, as if he didn’t see it or know anything about it. 😉

Anyway, I gathered up the missing UFO parts and Gulliver gave me another Moai statue for recovering them all. By the way, this was my 33rd UFO shot down…which equals the number I’ve shot down in City Folk! They’re much easier in Wild World though, which is how I’ve caught up despite playing Wild World half as long.

Today was Groundhog Day in North America, and it’s only mentioned via a letter from Mom.

Dear Jeff, Did the groundhog show his face today? There IS a groundhog in that odd commune you live in, yes? I must know! -Mom

When I spoke with Drift, he reminded me that the Bright Nights festival is coming up next week.

Drift: Hon! Guess what?! The Bright Nights are starting soon, mew!

But he gave me some odd advice: He told me to train for it with ice cubes in my shorts! I don’t think so! 🧊

Drift: Cold can make you cramp up, so train for it with ice cubes in your shorts, OK?

But I’m not the only one that thinks Drift is a bit strange. Caroline asked me to deliver a letter to Drift, and he showed me the letter (in which Caroline called him strange):

You're strange, Drift! Hey, Drift! Hear me out, will you? My feet grew after I danced to cabaret! See ya! -Caroline

But after reading that, I’m starting to think Caroline is a bit strange as well. 😛 When I returned to her, she rewarded me with a citrus wall for making the delivery.

Have a good weekend, everyone! See you next time!
