Saturday Sea Bass Search

It was almost midnight when I started up the game tonight, so I quickly made my way to the Roost. I asked K.K. Slider to play a random song for me, and he played some soul.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Soul!Hopper wanted to compete to see who could catch a sea bass first. Since villagers can’t actually catch fish on their own, I figured it would be easy. So I agreed to the competition.

Hopper: Let's see who can catch a sea bass first, you or me!Puddles was finally over her cold, and she thanked me profusely. She also gave me an arched window.

Puddles: It's all because of your medicine, J-star! You are so crazy nice!
No, I’m just crazy.

I got a bit of a scare when I visited Kiki. She had all of her furniture packed up in boxes, and she was about to move out of town! But I breathed a sigh of relief when I remembered this was Wild World, and I could change her mind. And indeed, she agreed to reconsider on my very first attempt.

Kiki: Jeff, if you want me here so badly, I'll think about it. But no promises! In front of my house, I ran into Baabara. She was talking about how she once wanted to be a pop star. When she was done talking, she asked me to pretend we never had the conversation.

Baabara: Would you do me a favor and pretend we never had this conversation?
Don’t worry, you wicked woolly witch, I try to forget *every* conversation we have.

With my walk around town complete, I decided to start fishing for that sea bass for Hopper. I caught several red snappers, a few octopi, two old tires, a boot, and even a hammerhead shark!

I caught a hammerhead shark!
Remember, hammerhead rhymes with schmammerbed.

I also caught a stag beetle I saw on a tree. But it was taking me quite a while to catch a sea bass! There’s always lots of them, until you actually want to find one. 😛 But eventually, I did catch one. When I took it over to Hopper, he rewarded me by giving me his imperial tile.

I made one last stop at the museum, where I donated my hammerhead shark and stag beetle. My pockets are now full of stuff to sell when I play next time.

Hopper Hops to Town

I saw a bug I hadn’t caught yet on a tree this evening. So I walked towards it…and then I scared it off. I reflexively swung my net anyway, and to my surprise, I actually caught it as it was trying to escape! I actually caught it the hard way. This was my first lanternfly.

I caught a lanternfly! You light up my life!I found a new house in town, and Hopper the penguin was inside. Even though he briefly lived in my GameCube town back in 2012, he’s not a villager that I’ve very familiar with. I haven’t seen much of him in any Animal Crossing game.

Hopper: My name is Hopper. Well, nice to meet you, slushie. On the bulletin board, there was a new “Talking to Myself” post about TV shows. The writer (probably Phyllis or Pelly) talks about how she can’t tell which TV shows are real and which are fake.

-Talking to Myself- I can't tell which talk show is real and which one is fake...and if I don't know, I don't wanna watch!Anyway, Nibbles was still bugging me about getting her some new clothes. And since I didn’t want anyone to have to see Nibbles’ naked niblets, I decided to buy an orange tie-dye shirt for her. She really seemed to like it, and she gave me a pilot’s cap to thank me.

Nibbles: I m-i-i-i-ght ask you for somethin' else later, niblet!
She actually looks cute when she closes her eyes.

Rod also asked me for new clothes today, so I bought a racer shirt for him.

Rod: Enough of that, though. You got something to say to me, ace? Jeff: Clothe yourself! He wasn’t thrilled with the shirt, but he gave me 510 bells for my trouble.

Puddles was still sick, and she described how she was feeling in way too much detail. She said she felt so queasy that she’s going to redecorate her shoes! That’s disgusting!

Puddles: Oooh... I feel queasy... I think I'm totally gonna redecorate my shoes...At the museum, I donated my lantern fly and identified two fossils. One of the fossils, a plesio torso, was one that I needed. It completed the plesiosaur.

The complete plesiosaur fossil in the museum of Animal Crossing: Wild World for Nintendo DS.I only need one more fossil (the parasaur skull) to complete this wing of the museum.

At town hall, I made a 23,000 bell mortgage payment. I then wrapped up my game for the night.

June Bugs

I received Yuka’s goodbye in the mail today. So long, Yucky Yuka!

Au revoir, Jeff! I'm leaving town! I wanted it to be a big mystery, but I'm actually just bored. See ya. -I'm out! From, Yuka
If you’re bored, then you’re boring.

June is a big month for new bugs to appear, and I caught several new ones tonight. That included this mosquito. I particularly liked the text that went along with the celebratory pose after catching it. I actually demand that the mosquito returns my blood! Unfortunately, I don’t have a good way of getting the blood back in. 😛

I caught a mosquito! Give me my blood back!I also caught an oak silk moth, which is actually called a Japanese oak silk moth in Wild World, and a firefly. The fireflies look rather odd and squarish in this game.

A squarish firefly flies near my face in Animal Crossing: Wild World.
Ironically, they actually looked more round on GameCube.

Today is flea market day, and Big Top welcomed me to his “Mega Mart” store. He said the deals grab me by the lapels and punch me square in the teeth. Quite a dramatic statement, and it looks even worse when you take the second part of it completely out of context. 😛

Big Top: And punch you square in the teeth!
You’re taking this boxing theme a bit too far, big guy.

I wasn’t interested in buying anything, despite his threats of bodily harm.

When I ran into Baabara outside, she said she was going to give me a present, but couldn’t because my pockets were full! Then why even tell me? With Yuka gone now, Baabara is the clear public enemy #1.

Baabara: I was going to give you a present, but you can't hold it!So I looked through my pockets to see what I could get rid of. I couldn’t sell anything, because the store was already closed for the night. So I buried a pitfall seed and then chatted with her again. But this time, she made no mention of a free gift! So I decided to try to push her into the pitfall. But things didn’t go quite as I planned. Somehow, she evaded my grasp and *I* was the one that fell into the pitfall!

Jeff falls into a pitfall in Animal Crossing: Wild World (ACWW).Baabara may have won this battle, but the war is not over!

I went to the museum to donate my three new bugs. Blathers told me a tale of children that were unable to buy candles. He said they had to study by the light from fireflies! He found the idea of being that close to a bug vile and disgusting, and said that he’d rather read in the dark! Yeah, I don’t think most people have that ability though, Blathers.

Blathers: I'd rather read in darkness!Next, I headed downstairs to catch the Saturday night performance from K.K. Slider. He played K.K. Lament for me, which is a good song…but also quite sad. How depressing, K.K.! 😛

K.K. Slider performs at the Roost in ACWW.After the show, I checked in on Puddles. She’s still sick, and I couldn’t buy any medicine for her this time. Hopefully she’ll start to feel better soon.

Puddles: T-tonight is crucial... Just g-gotta make it one m-more night...I then returned home, put my new song in my stereo, and ended my game for the night.
