Go Hug Yourself

I played shortly before Nook ‘n’ Go closed tonight, and I bought myself a sphinx for 3,200 bells. It’s not very detailed at all in Wild World, and it doesn’t look quite right. But I still put it in my house for the time being.

My new sphinx on display in my Wild World house.

In Able Sisters, Sable continued her newfound chattiness with a story about a zit. Her current pimple reminded her of a story from when she was younger. She said she had a big zit on the tip of her nose in one of the photos behind her, and she was really distressed by it. But her mom got the photographer to erase it from the photo.

Sable: It's just that... Well, I have this whopper of a zit on my nose...I’m just surprised she has so many stories to tell.

The coconut I planted last time has survived! It’s still small, but it’s doing well. Say hello to my first coconut tree!

My first coconut tree.
Actually it doesn’t talk, so you don’t need to say hello to it.

When I visited Static, he got defensive for some reason. He said people think he doesn’t have any friends, but he’s friends with Chevre. Okay…

Static: Got that? I'm not alone! You heard me! NOT ALONE! PEOPLE LIKE ME!Since it’s Saturday night, I made sure to visit the Roost for some live music. I let K.K. choose the song, and he played Imperial K.K. for me.

K.K. performs some live music for me.Biskit asked me to deliver a letter to Chevre within ten minutes. I agreed to do it.

Biskit: If you could do it in the next 10 minutes, that would be great.
The time limit is ruff, but I’ll try.

I quickly hunted down Chevre and handed her the letter. She didn’t read it out loud, but she did laugh as she read it to herself. She said the letter was wonderful and made her very happy. Then she told me to give Biskit a hug for her, and to hug myself too?

Chevre: Please give a big hug to Biskit, it'sa me. And give yourself one, too! When I returned to Biskit, he thanked me by giving me a tartan rug for my trouble.

Over by town hall, Kiki gave me a chain-gang shirt for free. I tried it on and decided to keep wearing it for a while. Kiki is so nice.

Kiki: I hope it brings you lots of happiness, kitty cat!I didn’t find any fossils in town today, which is unusual. Maybe I need to look in the daylight hours. But I did catch a couple of new fish for the museum, an olive flounder and a yellow perch.

Blathers: Indeed, these fish are available for perch-ase all over the world, wot! After that, I returned home. I put my new song in my stereo and then went up to bed. See you next time!

Meeting Gracie

As expected, I got Pate’s goodbye letter in the mail today. So long, duck.

Pate's goodbye letter in Animal Crossing: Wild World.I visited Bill, and he told me he skinned his elbow today and can’t stop picking at the scab.

Bill: Man, I skinned my elbow, and I've been picking at this scab all dang day!
Do you even have elbows?

Anyway, he asked me to make a delivery to Baabara within 10 minutes. I declined.

There was a coconut washed up on the beach tonight, so I planted it. If the sapling survives, I’ll soon have my first coconut tree.

Finding a coconut washed up on the beach. When I bumped into Baabara, she started bragging about how great her house scores with the Happy Room Academy. She also mentioned that elegance just comes naturally to her. Oh please.

Baabara: My place earned 8,897 points! But elegance comes naturally to me!In Able Sisters, Sable told me that she’s still single! Is she coming onto me? 😛

Sable: I'm still single!Actually, she was just explaining that the couple in the photo behind her was her parents. Sable has really become quite chatty lately. She goes on and on and on!

Sable: Her only fault is that she can sometimes be a bit too tomboyish...In front of town hall, I spotted Gracie…and her car!

Gracie and her car in front of town hall. You don’t wash her car like you do on GameCube, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. But when I spoke to her, she complimented my style, and then talked about a fashionista badge. Apparently, I have to successfully pass her fashion quiz to earn it.

Gracie: What would you do if you found a hole in your jeans? (Rip! Rip! Rip!)After answering her five questions, I started to get the impression that I didn’t do very well.

Gracie: Oh, my dear... Donkeys have a more charming laugh than you!She handed me a letter, and I opened it up.

Dear redneck Jeff, Redneck...go look that word up in the dictionary, honey! You'll see your name in the definition! -GracieThere was also an item attached to the letter…

A moldy shirt.Wow. Gracie has never been very polite, but she’s particularly savage in Wild World. When I spoke with her again, she recognized my sadness and said she had something for me. But then I was taken to a screen where I had to make her an offer? For what? I entered 100 bells, and she was not happy with that offer. She said I had no respect for her art, and she did this to me:

Gracie: Ready...and GO!

She put a go-go shirt and post-op patch on me. I don’t even understand what this is all about. At this point, I was done with her. Buh-bye.

Inside of town hall, I made a 25,000 bell payment on my mortgage. And back outside, Kiki stopped me and offered to buy my moldy shirt for 10 bells. Sure, why not?

Kiki: Would you want to sell your moldy shirt for 10 bells?I then returned home and ended my game for the night. See you next time!

La-Di-Day

As I started up the game tonight, a message informed me that today was La-Di-Day! This event wasn’t in the other Animal Crossing games, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.

Hey, everybody! It's La-Di-Day!But before I went to investigate, I took a look at my newly upgraded house. An upstairs window has been added, which is visible from outside.

My upgraded house as seen from outside. On the inside, my main room is now 8×8 instead of 6×6. But I’m not really using much of my space yet.

My house expanded to 8x8.I headed over to town hall, expecting to find Tortimer there to tell me what La-Di-Day was all about. But he wasn’t there, and they didn’t say anything about it inside of town hall either. But my buddy Static clued me in. He told me that the best song will become the town tune.

Static: Make sure you hear my song. It's a manly country ballad, tsk tsk!
Ugh, he learned Yuka’s catchphrase.

You have to talk to the animals a second or third time before they’ll sing their song for you. Once they do, you have the option of “hiring them,” which means you’ll adopt their song as the new town tune. Despite the odd description Static gave me of his song, I actually enjoyed how it sounded and I made it the town tune. For the moment, at least.

But La-Di-Day wasn’t the only music event going on. Since it’s Saturday night, K.K. Slider was also at the Roost to perform some live music. I let him pick out a random song for me, and he played Two Days Ago. It’s one of my favorites.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: Two Days Ago!When I visited Pate, I found her all packed up in boxes. Even though she’s not one of my enemies in town, I decided to let her go. So long, ducky.

Pate: I'm never gonna forget about you, Jeff! NEVER, quackle! When I came back around to Nook ‘n’ Go, I saw a curious sight: Static was walking with a net out, followed by Yuka with a net out, followed by Baabara with a net out! Is today also a net parade day?

Static, Yuka, and Baabara walk in a line, all with their nets out. After saying no to Biskit’s song, I went to visit Chevre. To my surprise, her song was the Super Mario theme! What made it all the more interesting was that she was using Alfonso’s old catchphrase, “it’sa me.”

Chevre: So, I shall now sing for you, it'sa me!I said no to that song too. But I visited Kiki the black cat next, and I kind of liked her song. I’m not sure if it was better than Static’s, but it was hard to say no to Kiki. You’re hired!

Kiki: All that singing in the shower has finally paid off, kitty cat!

I also listened to Bill’s song on my way home, but I stuck with Kiki’s tune for now. Overall, my first La-Di-Day was a bit anticlimactic. The event definitely isn’t a huge deal or anything, but it is a nice way to occasionally change up your town tune.

Once home, I put Two Days Ago in my stereo and then went up to bed. I’ll see you all next time!

Here’s a video showing many of today’s events:
