Nintendo has provided me with an advance copy of Disney Magical World, which comes out on April 11th for Nintendo 3DS. It has some gameplay similarities to Animal Crossing, while also featuring over 60 Disney characters. I'll be writing about the game and providing regular updates as I progress through the game. Please share this blog with other Disney fans or anyone else who may be interested.
Day 6: Easter Decorations
Today I've noticed some Easter decorations in the main plaza! There is a large Easter basket and numerous Easter eggs around town.
So where's the chocolate?
Even though the game uses a real-time clock, I was not expecting to see holiday decorations like this. So it's a nice surprise. And the game comes out on April 11th, well before Easter. So those who buy the game at launch, or soon after, should still see these Easter decorations. Speaking of the real-time clock, there's one other thing I like about it. From what I can tell, the stores don't close at certain hours like they do in Animal Crossing. This is very helpful for people who play late at night like I do.
As I was exploring Castleton, I soon ran into Alice.
I
wonder where that could be.
She was telling me about her adventure in Wonderland, and she said that if I tried the tea there, I might get some ideas for new recipes for my cafe. The gate to Wonderland was now open! I went on through, and began an episode where I had to chase the white rabbit. This was an action stage, like the ghost levels in Cinderella's village.
Come back here, rabbit!
After clearing the quest, the Chesire Cat showed me where the white rabbit went.
I'll fit right in!
But the next episode required more stickers than I currently had, so I headed back out to Castleton for now. I hadn't visited the castle lately, so I went and spoke with the king. He and the chancellor taught me several new greetings, including a shrug and a jump for joy. I bought some new sparkles just because I could, and then I shopped at McDuck's. The store's inventory is affected by the season, as they had an Easter chair for sale.
As long as I'm not sitting on eggshells.
And at Daisy's boutique, I was now able to make the Chesire quest outfit. Wearing the proper outfit for a quest gives you an extra health advantage, so this is something I definitely wanted to buy for that reason. But I don't think I'll be wearing it any other time, because...well...look for yourself.
Meow?
I went back to 100 Acre Wood and did some more farming. After harvesting my 5th type of crop, I earned my 25th sticker. And after some trips between Daisy's boutique and the cafe, I fulfilled the request for Mickey Chef uniforms for my workers at the cafe. I then added some new Hawaiian sunset wallpaper (based on a customer's request) and my ownership level went up to level 5.
In the eastern part of Castleton, I ran into Genie from Aladdin!
I wish for infinite wishes!
He invited me to visit his land of Agrabah, and of course I said yes! I went through the newly opened gate and it didn't take me long to find Aladdin, Jasmine, and Abu.
I feel so short...
Aladdin told me I should check out the ancient ruins to score some rare items. He told me where to find his flying carpet, and I flew to the ruins. It was another action stage that plays much like the others. Along the way, I obtained the recipe for the Arabian quest outfit.
But before having the clothes made, I checked in on my cafe. I made a couple of new food items and earned my 26th sticker for creating ten different dishes. With the cafe restocked, I went over to the boutique. However, I found out I needed some rubber leaves for my new outfit, and I didn't have any yet. But I decided to check in on my crops first, and I earned a sticker for harvesting 10 types of crops. That's one thing I like about this game: There are so many things going on at once. Your cafe earns you money and your crops continue to grow as you go off and do other things as well. It's easy to get sidetracked, and that's a good thing.
Eventually, I returned to Agrabah and completed the second quest. Along the way, I picked up the rubber leaves I needed for my outfit. When I was done, I got a sticker for clearing a total of ten episodes, and then I made my Arabian quest outfit.
I later visited a couple of other cafes, and I got a new outfit. I wore it briefly, just to get credit for wearing another ace ensemble, and it earned me my 29th sticker. Even though the game started a bit slow, I'm really enjoying Disney Magical World a lot right now. I may pick up the pace of these blog entries, so stay tuned.
