Nintendo has provided me with an advance copy of Disney Magical World, which comes out on April 11th for Nintendo 3DS. It has some gameplay similarities to Animal Crossing, while also featuring over 60 Disney characters. I'll be writing about the game and providing regular updates as I progress through the game. Please share this blog with other Disney fans or anyone else who may be interested.
Day 7: Expanding the Cafe
After checking my cafe and crops, I decided to return to Cinderella's village since I hadn't been there in a while. I started an episode called "The Proper Outfit for a Ball." It is another ghost-shooting action stage, but this one is different: It has a fishing hole!
Wait up for me, ghosts! I'm going fishing.
The fish here gave me diamond bubbles. I'm not sure exactly what I'll need them for, but they definitely sound better than soap bubbles and inky bubbles! And it's always good to stock up on ingredients, because you never know when a future recipe will call for it. But after catching all the fish I saw, I continued on and beat the boss ghost to complete the quest. But then a coachman told me I wasn't fast enough to get a ride to the ball. Huh? I didn't know there was a time limit. But it's all part of the story. The fairy godmother then appeared to help me out.
And I'm Santa Claus.
She told me she'd make me a carriage if I bring her a pumpkin. So I began another action quest in search of a pumpkin. This time, the quest was a bit more challenging. The ghosts shoot out these pesky projectiles, and I actually died. But fortunately, you have multiple lives. I never even realized that before, since the earlier quests have been so easy. The boss ghost here is supposedly the final boss of the Cinderella area, and it was much harder than previous bosses. But I defeated it, and that earned me my 30th sticker.
The fairy godmother turned my pumpkin into a carriage and she made me a ballroom tuxedo too. I was then able to attend my first ball! The next episode was a dancing mini-game. I did okay, scoring three out of five crowns, and that was enough to clear the episode. The chancellor rewarded me with a recipe for a ballroom outfit. Cinderella also gave me an invitation to the upcoming Moonlight Ball. Some new episodes were unlocked, but I don't have enough stickers for them just yet. And that's fine by me, because I was ready to visit some other parts of Castleton now anyway.
When I got to my cafe, I found out that having 30 stickers allows me to unlock the cafe expander!
Can it expand my profits too? What about my cookies?
It's a magical device that doubles the size of the cafe! It now has a second floor, which is where I will live! There's not much other than a bed in it for now, but I can decorate it however I like. Customers will also send me a present each day! How cool is that? There's also a mirror that lets you access the wireless menu, change your room's background music (once you have other songs), or adjust your hair and face...but only if you're NOT using a Mii! So I'm not able to use that feature! So when you start the game, you might want to consider making an in-game character instead of using a Mii.
After that, I went to 100 Acre Wood. I started a new episode where Pooh asked me for some new honeypots. I got a recipe for one, and I took it to Chip and Dale's workshop. Unfortunately, I found out I need an empty antique jar and a wibbly-wobbly spoon to make it. The jar is supposed to be in Aladdin's world and the spoon can be found in Alice's world. I'll need to check out those worlds next time. But before I stopped playing for the day, I made a coffee table at the workshop. That earned me a sticker for creating five different pieces of furniture. See you next time!
