Animal Crossing September Fishing Guide

What is the September Fishing trick?

Fishing in the ocean during the first half of September can be very lucrative for Animal Crossing players. Follow these tips and it's easy to rack up a minimum of 3,000 bells for every fish that you catch! This method is the best and fastest way to make money in Animal Crossing. It's not hard to make 100,000 bells in under 15 minutes! And all you have to do is fish in the ocean!

What about the sea bass?

Most guides will tell you that sea bass can be found in the ocean year-round, but that is incorrect. The sea bass take a one-month break; they are gone from mid-August to mid-September. However, the second half of August doesn't make for good fishing because the ocean is filled with (relatively worthless) jellyfish during that time. So once September begins, there are no sea bass or jellyfish.

So what fish can I catch?

In most ocean acres, there are only three types of fish that can appear during this time: Red snappers (worth 3,000 bells), barred knifejaws (worth 5,000 bells), and if it's raining, coelacanths (worth a whopping 15,000 bells). Play during the rain the maximize your earnings.

Where should I fish?

To take advantage of this lucrative season, you can fish just about anywhere in the ocean. There is one spot you'll want to avoid, however. At the mouth of river (the acre with the lighthouse), you may catch some salmon, which are only worth 650 bells each. So avoid that acre (which is Acre F-3 in my town) for best results. There will only be one fish in each acre, so catch that fish and then move on to the next acre. I prefer going back and forth between two adjacent acres (usually F-1 and F-2).

When does it end?

Sea bass start returning around September 11th or so, but they initially appear in reduced numbers. So you might have to throw a few sea bass back at that point, but the fishing is still good overall until the middle of the month.

Will this tip work in other Animal Crossing games?

No, it will only work in the original GameCube game. The later games (Wild World, City Folk, and New Leaf) have more types of ocean fish, so losing any one type of fish will have a minimal impact on your earnings in those games.
