Zelda Masks & Traditional KK

I got a letter in the mail from Aurora today. She thanked me for visiting her house yesterday and she sent me a washer/dryer. And while making my daily rounds today, I found four fossils…nice. Three of them were ones the museum needed, so I donated those and sold the other one.

I stopped in the Dream Suite, and Luna told me that 79 people have now visited my town in their dreams.

Luna: Records state the number of clients who have experience a dream about Forest is 79.I hope all these people weren’t expecting a whole lot, because my town still doesn’t have a lot going on just yet! But I did finally pick up the two pitfall seeds I had left on the ground outside my house though. Then I updated my dream, and once again, I got 5,000 bells for doing it!

I then headed next door to Club LOL. I gave Shrunk three peaches again, and he taught me the agreement emotion.

Shrunk: My old teacher's Agreement Joke is sure to CURE what ails you!Agreement was also a rare Frillard emotion in City Folk. In fact, I’ve been trying to get it for years! So this seems to back up my theory that you get “rare” emotions if you give him three fruits in a basket instead of just one fruit. Update: Apparently, it was just a coincidence. New Leaf doesn’t have “rare” emotions in the same way that City Folk did.

Next, I went into T&T Mart. It must have been my lucky Zelda day, because my two fortune cookies earned me Majora’s Mask and Midna’s Mask! Me wearing Majora's Mask in New Leaf.

Me wearing Midna's mask. After a quick stop at the Able Sisters, I headed back to town. It was only a little after 4:00 p.m., but Fuchsia commented about it being dark outside. It was sunny and bright out, so I don’t know what she’s thinking.

Fuchsia, in broad daylight: Yo, Jeff! It's dark out, so watch yourself! Uh-huh!After we talked, I saw her water some flowers! That’s pretty cool!

Pashmina walks away after watering some flowers.Aurora asked me to catch an orchid mantis for her. I actually hadn’t even caught one for the museum yet, so that meant I had to catch two of them. I remembered from City Folk that they hang out on white flowers, so I kept returning to the only white flower I saw. It actually didn’t take me too long to catch the two bugs. I gave one of them to Aurora, and she thanked me by giving me a common bed.

Aurora: It's a common bed.I took a break from playing at the time, but I returned after 8:00. Saturday is traditional K.K. night. Instead of being a DJ in the club, K.K. whips out his old acoustic guitar and sings one of his songs like he has done in previous games. I didn’t get a choice of songs this time, he just performed K.K. Flamenco for me. Shrunk was dancing in the background.

K.K.: Enough tuning--let's groove. This next one is for you, Jeff. It's called K.K. Flamenco. The game credits roll as K.K. Slider performs a song for me.K.K. Slider performs as I look on. Shrunk dances in the background. When he was done, he gave me a copy of the song to play at home. Unfortunately, I don’t think I have a stereo to play it on just yet. I’ll have to keep an eye open for one.

And that wraps up my day in Forest. I am tempted to go to the island later on tonight, but I probably won’t update the blog again tonight unless something noteworthy happens. But I will be back for another update tomorrow, so I hope to see you then!

So Aurora Invited Me Over…

I got my quaint painting in the mail from Crazy Redd today. And as I feared, it is indeed a fake; Reese confirmed it.

Reese: Oh no! If you look very closely at it, you can see it's a fake! The worst part is that she charges a disposal fee to get rid of it! Isn’t it bad enough that I already lost a few thousand bells on a fake painting? Ugh. I hung onto it for now.

Reese: I could at least dispose of it for you for 100 bells. Is that OK?While making my rounds around town, Aurora said she had been reading a book on how to become a better hostess. So she invited me over, right away!

Aurora: Would you mind coming to my house so I can practice for a while?I really liked her house, especially the air conditioner on the wall.

Aurora's cool house, with an air conditioner on the wall. She did get a little embarrassed, knowing that I was inspecting everything.

Aurora: It's a little embarrassing for me knowing that you're inspecting everything in my room. She told me to pick out an item and said she’d give it to me.

Aurora: Oh, my minimalist lamp? You can have that. But my pockets were full. So I rearranged some items to make space, and then talked to her again. But this time, she wanted 900 bells for the lamp instead! No thanks, I thought it was free! And I thought we were friends!

Aurora: But if you want it, it could be yours for 900 bells. As I was leaving, she asked how I liked her house; I said I liked it a lot. That made her happy.

Back outside, I found three fossils and the daily money rock. But today, I only got seven money bags out of it (good for 8,100 bells). Usually I’m able to get eight bags, but I must have been a bit slow today. I then went up to Main Street. I got my fossils identified and then went into the Dream Suite. Even though my town hasn’t changed since yesterday, I updated my dream. Luna actually paid me 5,000 bells for updating it! Wow!

Luna: Oh, before I forget... As thanks for this update, we'd like to give you 5,000 bells. She told me of a Japanese player who enjoyed my dream town.

Luna informs me that a Japanese player recently visited my dream town. And to my surprise, she said 32 people have visited my dream town! Considering the game isn’t available in most of the world yet, I was shocked at that number.

Luna: Records state the number of clients who have experienced a dream about Forest is 32.It was early enough to catch Shrunk at Club LOL, so I headed over there. I meant to give Shrunk a peach for a snack, but because I had three peaches in one basket, it gave all three to him. He taught me the inspiration emotion.

Shrunk: Prepare to see emotion in motion! You shall now see inspiration in the very air!Inspiration was a rare (Frillard) emotion in City Folk. I’m not sure if it’s still a rare emotion in New Leaf or not, but I have a feeling that I may have gotten it this time because I gave him three fruits instead of one.

I stopped at T&T Mart to see if Timmy/Tommy would take my fake painting, but they won’t accept it at all. Tom Nook used to dispose of items for free in previous games, so these little Nookling brats should learn a lesson from their uncle.

Anyway, I returned to town and tried out my emotions on a couple villagers. If you do the greetings emotion, the villagers will respond with the same greeting. When I tried inspiration, the villagers seemed to applaud me. Here’s a picture of Aurora and I greeting each other.

Me and Aurora greeting each other. That about wrapped up my day in Forest. But I have two videos for you today! First is a video version of my New Leaf Face Guide:

Also, Nintendo put out another Inside the Treehouse video today. This one is about the calendar of events in the game:

I’ll be back tomorrow! Have a great weekend!

Forest Dream Address

Today, I found the money rock on my first try! Easy money. I still searched around town for the three fossils, and along the way, I spotted Crazy Redd’s tent. I looked at his items and decided to buy this quaint painting.

Redd: Whoa! I see you've got eyes only for that quaint painting there! I'd say it has eyes for you too!But after I bought it, I noticed that Redd actually had four items for sale, not three like I thought. And the one that I didn’t see on the first look was a dynamic painting, which looked authentic. So I think I’m going to be receiving a fake painting in the mail tomorrow. Oh well.

I then headed up to Main Street and went into the Dream Suite. I sat on the couch and got a dream address for my town! This means that even if you’re not on my 3DS friend roster, you’ll still be able to visit my town in your dreams! My dream address is 4300-2003-9889. Luna advised me to update my dream from time to time, so that visitors will be getting a current version of my town.

Luna: This town's dream has been given a Dream Address of 4300-2003-9889.Next, I stopped into Club LOL next door. Despite the name, this club is really fun! The music, the lights, and the dancing really liven things up. I just need to remember to play earlier in the day so I can get some more emotions!

Me dancing at Club LOL.In the T&T Mart, I spotted a high-jump mat. It’s a bit nostalgic for me, because it was one of the first items I ever got in Animal Crossing: City Folk. It reminds me of some people I used to play ACCF with back in 2008 and 2009. But I don’t have room in my house for it now, so I didn’t buy it.

Timmy: Ah, a high-jump mat! A fine item, yes?One of my fortune cookie rewards was for a pipe. Sorry, but I don’t smoke. 😛

Timmy: Ah, congratulations! The prize for Number 26 is great--a Pipe! And while I was there, I decided to take a look at my catalog. The fortune cookie rewards do show up in the catalog, but you can’t order them. That’s about what I expected. However, I noticed that Gulliver items can be ordered! That was a surprise.

Tribal mask: 4,400 bells. As for Nintendo’s Inside the Treehouse video series, they’ve put out another new episode. It’s Episode 6: The Characters of Animal Crossing. It’s pretty interesting, so check it out:

One last note. I’ve made a New Leaf Face Guide that shows how to get the face you want when you start up the game. Unlike other face guides, this one uses the exact phrasing of the English-language versions, so no guesswork is involved. You might want to keep that link handy for when you get the game next month.

Okay, that’s all for today, but I will be back tomorrow with another update. Have a great Friday, everyone!

UPDATE: I almost forgot to show you my awesome soft-serve lamp that I got in the mail from Mom! How sweet!
