Best Friend Chat

So far, I’ve added two people as “best friends,” Chris and Wendy. And late last night, I tested out the best friend chat with Wendy. You can message your best friends, even if you’re in separate towns.

Private best friend message from Wendy: What a surprise! :)And today, I got a letter in the mail from Gulliver. He was in Germany, and he sent me a nutcracker. Ouch.

A nutcracker that Gulliver sent me from Germany. After putting it in my Gulliver/balloon furniture exhibit room at the museum, I went to Club LOL to get a new emotion. This time, Shrunk taught me the pride emotion.

Shrunk: So, yeah, what do you think? I think this is the first time you've seen my Pride Joke!I then returned to town, where I met up with Rory. He suggested I should build a brick bridge! So that was added to the list of available projects.

Rory: I get this letter from a friend who goes on and on...about the big, new brick bridge in his town.Benedict asked me for a peach. That was an easy task, so I quickly got one for him. He wolfed it down, and then thanked me by giving me a cardboard box. Gee, thanks.

Benedict: Oh! I should give you something, shouldn't I? OK, please take my cardboard box as thanks! And then, at long last, I ran into Saharah! I saw her once before, but it was when I was still living in a tent. She had a strict “no homeless” policy (my words, not hers), so she couldn’t do anything for me. But now that I had a house, she could. She charged me 3,000 bells and followed me to my house. After we went inside, she promptly kicked me out.

Saharah: Now my work begins! You will wait outside, yes? Just a bit, please. Thank you, yes.So I waited outside until she came out and told me she was done.

Saharah: It is done! Done like the past! Tomorrow is here!Uh, okay?

Saharah: Your palace is renewed, King Jeff. Rule it now.Well okay then. I then went inside to rule my renewed palace.

A citrus carpet and manor wall that Saharah installed in my house.Um… this is her idea of a palace? A citrus carpet and a manor wall? I don’t think either of these are rare items, so I think I just got ripped off.

Anyway, I decided I would try taking my astro clock to Cyrus over at Re-Tail to see what he could do to customize it. It displays the time in 24-hour (military) time, and I was hoping it could be adjusted to regular time. Unfortunately, it can’t; but Cyrus could change the color of the clock. So I decided to go with blue and black–JVGS colors.

Cyrus: The body color gets the ol' "Blue and Black" design... Sure! Got it!After that, I headed up to Main Street again. At Super T&T, I got an Arwing from my fortune cookie. And I saw an apple TV for sale…but it’s not called that any more. Now it’s called a juicy-apple TV. Maybe now it’ll show informercials for juicers! Exciting!

Tommy: Ah, a juicy-apple TV! A fine item, yes?The area around the Able Sisters was still under construction for a second day, so I still don’t have the salon yet. And with that, I wrapped up my day, at least for now. I’ll have to get my clock back from Cyrus either later tonight or tomorrow.

The Return of Katie

It was raining again today in Forest. And unfortunately, I’m starting to notice some grass wear around town. It’s not bad (yet), but there are spots where it’s quite noticeable.

Some grass has worn away.Benedict was out in the rain, talking about eating creamed corn. I guess that makes sense.

Benedict: Rainy days always make me wanna chow down on creamed corn.Katt was also outside. When I spoke to her, she gave me a free rock guitar, no questions asked.

Katt: Hey... So this is sudden, but can you take my rock guitar off my hands? And then I saw someone I hoped to never see again: Katie.

Katie: Um, hey, mister! Are you from Forest? The whole “lost kitten” routine from City Folk was something I really hated. It was novel the first time, but when Katie kept appearing week after week, I began to detest her. I didn’t want to have to do that routine again in New Leaf. And thankfully, she said that this time, she’s not lost! She said she’s on an adventure, traveling to different towns on her own. What a relief!

Katie: Did you think I was some lost little kid? No way! Not me!But that feeling of relief didn’t last long, because she still asked me to take her to another town!

Katie: Oh, right. Hey, Mister Mayor! How about you take me to some other town?I wasn’t planning on using Wi-Fi today, so I brushed her off. It’s good that she doesn’t need to go to a specific town in New Leaf (like she did in City Folk), but her presence still annoys me.

I then met up with Rory, and he told me he prefers dampness from sweat over dampness from rain. I’m afraid I can’t agree with that statement.

Rory: Dampness from sweat is the way to go. Dampness from rain...not so much, capital. After finding my fossils and money rock, I headed up to Main Street. I gave Shrunk a cherry and he taught me the showmanship emotion.

Shrunk: His name is The Shrunk! And on the other side of the shopping district, I saw some new construction around the Able Sisters! Oooh, I think this means I’m getting Shampoodle soon!

Blue tarp covers a construction area about Able Sisters. The future home of Shampoodle!I quit playing at that point, but I returned later on. I found Gulliver on the beach, and he’s going to send me an item from Germany tomorrow. I’ll be back with more then.

More Island Games

Today was Yuka’s last day in Forest, so I went in to say goodbye to her.

Yuka: And I've made up my mind. It's time for me to leave Forest. In the top-left corner of Forest, I saw a dig spot. There’s where I had buried Big Top’s time capsule, but the “X” spot wasn’t there the last time I looked. I wasn’t sure if this was something else, or if it meant the time capsule was ready to be unearthed. But I dug it up, and it was indeed the time capsule. It had a letter and an item inside–a vertigo shirt. But I got the feeling I wasn’t supposed to have done that… So I returned to Big Top.

Big Top: Aw yeah! You found my time capsule! Yeah, I was thinking I might dig it up soon myself, agent #1.He didn’t seem bothered that I dug it up. However…

Big Top: Wait a sec... It's empty! Did you do this, J dog? My poor time capsule... Agent #1...Oh. Crap. I definitely wasn’t supposed to open it myself. And elephants never forget. Sorry, Big Top. I hope this hasn’t hurt our friendship permanently. I talked to him again to see if there was an option to give him the vertigo shirt; there wasn’t. However, he offered to give me a garbage pail for it.

Big Top: How about I trade you my garbage pail for it?Even though I wasn’t in the mood for jokes, I headed over to Club LOL. But that worked out fine, because Shrunk’s jokes aren’t funny. He did however, teach me the laughter emotion. It’s the most useful of all emotions, in my opinion, so I’m glad to have it.

Shrunk: Use that joke book of yours to bust out your "Laughter" ability and develop your comedic skills!Back in town, Tex offered me a wistful painting! Of course he wanted 7,056 bells for it, but that’s worth it if it’s a real painting!

Tex: So I have a bond with my wistful painting that's strong as titanium.I took it to the museum and donated it. It was indeed real!

My friend Wendy, who was unable to come to Forest yesterday, was trying out a different router today. So she invited me over, and it worked! While I was there, her friend Jordan came over as well. But then when another visitor came, we disconnected. I again went to Wendy’s town, but this time nobody else came. I met with some of her animals, including Kabuki.

Kabuki: Awesome! Welcome! My name's Kabuki! Pleased to meet ya!Wendy’s house is right by the cliff overlooking the ocean. She wanted to see me jump off from there into the water, so I did.

I make a big splash as I dive off the cliff and into the ocean. And we both showed off our frogs that we caught earlier.

Jeff and Wendy showing off their frogs. After I was done looking around her town, we headed over to Forest. I opened my gate and Wendy came over, as did Dash. We went into Kicks, and I was having a little too much fun with my sneezing emotion. It makes juicy sneezes!

Sneezing on Wendy in Kicks' shoe shop.Next, we headed over to Club LOL for some dancing. Nick also came over to visit, so he joined in too.

The four of us dancing with Shrunk at Club LOL.At one point, I was jokingly telling K.K. “more steam!” and right on cue, more steam came out.

Jeff yells for "more steam" as steam erupts in Club LOL.After we were done, we went to my house for a bit. Dash called me outside. He was trying to pitfall me, but I didn’t fall for it. He did catch a blue Pikmin named Nick, though.

Dash tricks Nick into falling into a pitfall. Before long, we went out to the island. Everyone got their rental wet suits on and we went swimming. At one point, Wendy and Dash kept getting stung by jellyfish. It was pretty funny.

Wendy and Dash getting stung by jellyfish. And Nick pointed out that he was a blue Pikmin, swimming. (Blue Pikmin are the only ones that don’t drown in water).

Next up, we decided to do some tours (mini-games). First, we did a hide-and-seek tour, which was great for some quick, easy medals. And then we tried the easy hammer tour. Using toy hammers, you have to smack a machine that drives all around.

Tortimer: Use that toy hammer you're holding to smack the machine. It's a great stress reliever! Heh heh HORF!This was my first time doing this game, and it was pretty fun.

Smacking the machine with toy hammers on the hammer tour.We smacked it 202 times.

Tortimer: You smacked the machine... 202 times! And our last event of the night was a dragonfly-catching tour, which Wendy won.

Tortimer: Wendy gets 4 medals, Jeff gets 2 medals. After everyone collected their island catches from the basket and sold what they needed to sell, I ended the party. I definitely had a good time tonight.
