Today I got a letter in the mail from the Happy Homes Academy. Apparently my house score exceeded 20,000 HHA points, so they sent me an HHA pennant.
I also got a “one lamp” in the mail, although now I can’t remember who sent it to me. I put it next to my nine lamp. These number lamps would be great to use on New Year’s, assuming you have all the numbers you need.
Over by the town tree, Isabelle told me that I can use custom designs for fireworks! How awesome is that?
I showed her my JVGS pattern and Wendy’s Jif logo pattern.
Yesterday, I took three gold nuggets to Cyrus over at Re-Tail for customization. I forgot to return for my golden furniture yesterday, but I picked up my golden woman today.
At 7:00, the fireworks festival began. I opened my gate, and my town quickly filled up. Dash, Wendy, and Annissa came over to visit. Of course we set off some of our own fireworks…
Wendy ran through the fire at one point, which reminded me of a scene from Arrested Development. I’m a monster!
But the main attraction is the big fireworks up in the sky. There are big ones, little ones, and heart ones. The fireworks all looked really good.
And of course there were the custom fireworks as well.
Crazy Redd also had a concession stand, much like he did on GameCube. But he’s not selling balloons or pinwheels this time. Instead, he’s selling Redd’s cookies for 500 bells apiece.
Much like the fortune cookies you can buy from the Nooklings, these cookies can be eaten and they have a slip of paper inside. Most of them will be “dud prizes,” which aren’t winners. They can be exchanged for a firework such as a sparkler or Roman candle.
But you can also get items from Isabelle as well. In addition to handing out fireworks, she gave me a bulb bopper, which you wear on your head.
Wendy, Dash, and I sat at the town tree to view my town history as the fireworks continued in the background.
We also went over to my park near town hall and watched fireworks from there.
After that, we headed off to the island.
We went on an item-matching tour and a fishing tour. To my surprise, I actually won the fishing tour.
We then returned to town, and I bought some more cookies from Redd. This time, I got a whiz prize. I wasn’t sure what that meant (and it doesn’t sound good), but that’s actually what winning tickets are called. I won a ten billion barrel.
This is what it looks like:
I then ended the multiplayer session for the night. Even though the fireworks in ACCF were a lot of fun, New Leaf’s fireworks blow them out of the water. The fireworks look better and there’s more variety to them. There are more types of small fireworks you set off yourself (fountain fireworks in addition to sparklers and Roman candles). Plus the “boppers” are a nice touch, and the ability to get special items from Crazy Redd is just icing on the cake.
New Leaf’s fireworks festival is a whole lot of fun, and I’m really impressed. This is one of the best festivals I’ve played in any Animal Crossing game. And the best part? There’s going to be at least four of them every year. Did you all enjoy the fireworks festival as much as I did? Leave a comment below and share your stories too! As for me, I’ll be back with another blog entry tomorrow. Bye for now!
