Teddy Moves In

Late last night, Big Top offered to sell me his stool! It was pink and velvety. 😮

Big Top: Oh, hey, so I'm putting my prized pink velvet stool up for sale for 2,520 bells. Any interest?I declined, but then he offered it to me for a lower price and I bought it. Just to have it in my catalog (well, and to help him out).

Then today, I was in the police station and I saw a tricky pitfall seed for the first time.

Copper: Looks like you've got yourself a tricky pitfall seed there. Do you want to keep that item?If you don’t know, it functions the same as a regular pitfall seed, but the “x” mark is smaller. Apparently that makes it tricky. Tricky. Tricky, tricky, tricky. Here’s a comparison, showing the tricky pitfall seed on the left and a regular pitfall seed on the right.

Picture comparing a regular pitfall seed and a tricky pitfall seed. The tricky one displays a smaller, less noticeable star when buried. As you can see, it was raining in town today. But I still went fishing and I caught my first giant snakehead.

I caught a giant snakehead! But where's the rest of the snake? As expected, Teddy the teddy bear moved in today. I went to his house to welcome him to Forest.

Teddy: I moved to your town, just like I said I would!Outside, I found a lost item–a book. I went around asking everyone who it belonged to. Eventually, I found the careless critter who dropped it:

Tabby: What?! I looked everywhere for this book! But she can’t even read! It must be a picture book. Anyway, she thanked me and gave me a spa chair as a reward. After that, Aurora approached me, asking for a new greeting. So I told her to say “I got happy feet.”

Aurora: I got happy feet! How can I help, waddle?I promptly picked nine perfect peaches, and Wendy let me sell them in her town. I got 27,000 bells for them all.

Reese: Ooh, some perfect peaches! I can take that item off your hands for 27,000 bells, if that's OK?Then at 10:00, I opened my gate for Friday Night Forest. Wendy, Meli, and Peyton came over to visit. After a quick shopping run, we danced at Club LOL.

Jeff, Meli, Peyton, and Aurora dancing at Club LOL.Even Aurora was getting into it. Shake that penguin butt! Flap those wings!

Aurora flapping her wings while dancing at Club LOL.We hung out at my house, and then went outside. I dropped a couple of fountain fireworks and set myself on fire.

Standing in the flame from a fountain firework. After beating Tabby with nets and hammers for a while, we took a trip to the island. We did the market-value bug tour and caught 69,690 bells worth of bugs. That was good for a silver medal, which isn’t bad considering Wendy was away from her game and didn’t participate.

Tortimer: Let's see here... You caught 69,690 bells' worth of bugs!We caught some bugs and fish on the island, and then returned to Forest. Earlier in the day, Tabby asked me for an apple. But I didn’t have any apples (I had already sold my fruit for the day), so I just ignored her request. But when I talked to her tonight, I had forgotten about the earlier request. So when there was an option that said “I brought it,” I was thinking it was a request for furniture. So I gave her a fruit beetle I had. She got upset that I was giving her a bug to eat!

Tabby: Yuck! This is so not fruit! Even if I did eat this...ICK!And shortly after that, she had changed subjects. She was talking about how she put on too much blush and Molly was laughing at how she looks. Tabby, everyone laughs at how you look. Except for those who are frightened and run away.

Tabby: I tried to use more blush than usual. But then when Molly laughed at how I looked...?So she said she may never use blush again. Yeah right, and Nook will charge reasonable prices for home upgrades too.

Tabby: I have never been so embarrassed. Now I may never even use blush again, what am I?!Shortly before midnight, Peyton had to leave and Valeria came in. Wendy, Meli, and I watched the modern clock at the stroke of midnight.

Jeff, Wendy, and Meli watch as the modern clock lights up at the stroke of midnight. And we went into town hall to bug Isabelle. We were telling her to “fetch” and things like that. But it wasn’t all mean, I left her a bowl of Puppy Chow on my desk.

Valeria: Stop, drop, and roll. Jeff: Sit, boo boo, sit.We had a good time and I ended the party around 12:30. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Petaltail Dragonfly

Lately I’ve been noticing a flower that I thought was wilted near my house. But since I was sure that I watered it yesterday, I decided to pick it up. Turns out it’s a black rose!

A black rose!In City Folk, black roses looked more like a dark purple, so I didn’t recognize it as a black rose in New Leaf.

Down by the cliff, just east of my pyramid, there’s some home construction. This is where my previous camper Teddy will be moving in tomorrow.

Sign: This spot reserved for Teddy's new home. -Nook's HomesAnd the campsite is occupied once again, this time by Vesta. She’s nice and all, but she’s not my favorite sheep, so I’m not going to ask her to move in.

Vesta: Hello. I hope it's all right that I've decided to camp here. You have a lovely town.I also spotted Gracie over by the town tree. But she was wanting me to wear flashy clothes for a fashion check. I don’t have anything in terms of flashy clothes, so I didn’t have a chance.

Gracie: Fun and flashy! And I got a letter in the mail from Gulliver over in China. He sent me this red-tasseled lantern, which I put into my museum exhibit.

A red tasseled lantern, that I got from Gulliver, hanging on the wall. But soon after this, a problem popped up: The “photo limit has been reached” issue returned. So I tried my previous fix,  but it didn’t work this time. When I tried taking a picture with the 3DS camera, it said: “The SD card’s photo/video limit has been reached. Cannot shoot.”  So it seems the “fix” was just temporary. Now I had no choice but to move the pictures all to my computer and delete them all off of the SD card. My problem with that is the SD card was nowhere near full. It’s a 4 GB card, and it still had 2.2 GB free. What a joke.

Anyway, I went into the Happy Homes Showcase and there was a new SpotPass home there. It belonged to Steph from Leafy. She likes turtles.

Steph: I'm Steph from Leafy. My home is over at East 10. I like turtles. My favorite room of hers was this library.

A library in the SpotPass home of Steph from Leafy.A bit later, I decided to try to finally catch that petaltail dragonfly I’ve needed. After 20-30 minutes of searching, I finally saw one. It was surprisingly easy to catch!

I caught a petaltail dragonfly! It may be big, but I'm bigger! They were so difficult to catch in City Folk, but they seem to move much slower in New Leaf. At any rate, I’m glad to finally get that petaltail dragonfly. And this marks the first time that my insect collection is larger than my fish collection. This is my 57th insect, and I’ve caught 56 fish.

But as soon as I caught the petaltail dragonfly, Tex wanted to buy it from me! NO!!

Tex: I can't believe it, killer. You have a petaltail dragonfly? I've been wanting that exact thing! After donating it to the museum, I remembered to take a look at my concrete fence. I don’t like it.

The concrete fence around my New Leaf house. And after a quick trip to the island, I returned to find Phineas. He gave me the insect encyclopedia badge, which is a silver badge.

I got the Insect Encyclopedia badge! This shows I'm a fan of bugs!

Lighthouse!

I’m turning my newest room (the room on the right) into a modern wood series room. Even though the room is still tiny, I already have most of the series already installed.

My small modern wood furniture room.I went to the cafe today, and Tabby was there, hoping the steam from her coffee would moisturize her face. She told me she loves beauty tips…good thing, because she needs all the tips she can get.

Tabby: I wonder if all the steam from my coffee can moisturize my face. I love all-natural beauty tips!I then went to the other side of the counter to work my shift. An animal came in that I haven’t seen before, and I thought it was Miss Piggy at first! Turns out it’s not even female. I wonder if Nintendo has a certain guy in charge of designing ugly animals. If so, he’s good at his job!

Chops: Can you get me some coffee? Let's see... Oh, uh, no milk in it! Gotta watch my dairy intake!Even though I guessed wrong on Chops’ coffee beans, I got the other three customers’ orders perfect and I earned superb coffee beans for the day.

Down on the beach, Gulliver was washed up on the shore. His clues indicated he was headed to China. So I’ll be getting a gift from him in the mail tomorrow.

Gulliver: Xie xie! Thank you very much! But while I was on the beach, I took a look at the view of my new lighthouse from the dock.

My new lighthouse, as seen from the dock.I then headed back up to town. Rolf approached me and asked if I wanted to play hide-and-seek. He was acting pretty cocky. He’s a cool-looking animal and I like him, but his personality rubs me the wrong way sometimes.

Rolf: Heh! Don't cry like a baby once I beat you, OK? GAHAHA!I had ten minutes to find Rolf, Benedict, and Alli. The first one I found was Rolf, hiding behind my modern clock. Smart move, buddy.

Rolf hides behind my modern clock during a game of hide and seek.I actually found Alli down on the beach, hiding behind a banana tree.

Alli hides behind a palm tree during a game of hide-and-seek.And Benedict was hiding behind Alli’s house.

Benedict hides behind a house during a game of hide-and-seek.For winning the game, Rolf gave me a kiddie wall. It’s kind of funny that he has picked up Benedict’s catchphrase, buhk buhk. I almost expected him to show me his version of the chicken dance.

Rolf: Man, you'd make a great detective! But I'll get my revenge next time! Be ready for it! Buhk buhk!Next, I made my way over to town hall. I made sure to attend the completion ceremony for the lighthouse. But Molly was the only villager that showed up!

Me, Isabelle, and Molly celebrate at the completion ceremony for my new lighthouse!Alli then asked me to make a delivery for her. No problem, airhead.

My view of Alli was obscured by a balloon present as she told me to make a delivery by the end of the day for her. With that task complete, I went up to Main Street. Gabi’s presence hasn’t meant the end of Harry; I’m seeing them both up there now! Anyway, in Nook Homes, I decided to try out the concrete fence. I’ll have to see how it looks tomorrow.

Tom Nook: Ah, the concrete fence here will be used in your house remodel scheduled for tomorrow. And my last stop was a trip to the island. The island finally had the hide-and-seek game I’ve been looking for! Of course, I just played hide-and-seek in my town! But in the island tour, at least I can run around without having to worry about the flowers. So I played one game of it (the easy variation). I found all four villagers in under three minutes and earned a gold Tortimer award and seven medals.

Bam, during a hide-and-seek tour: Nuts... You got me!
