Final Bug-Off of the Season

Today was the day of the Bug-Off competition. And the event’s host, Nat, informed me that this is the final Bug-Off of the season.

Nat: Would you believe this is the final Bug-Off of the season? Terrible shame, but don't let it affect you!Molly, being the cute duck she is, told me that even if we’re rivals, she still cheers on her friends.

Molly: We may be rivals in this tournament, but I always cheer on my friends!I turned in a goliath beetle (that I saved from last night) in to Nat. You need an 80-point bug to score a special piece of bug furniture. But Nat only gave me 79 points for my goliath! Bug off, bug man!

Nat: 79 points! But even though I didn’t get a special piece of furniture, my 79-point bug was still enough to win the competition. So I attended the ceremony later in the evening.

Jeff, Big Top, and Rolf on the Bug-Off winners' podium. After that was over, Molly suggested a new public works project (PWP): a garbage can. I already have a garbage can in my house for getting rid of trash, so I’d rather not put one outdoors in my town.

Molly: In short, I think everyone in town could benefit from having a garbage can.Today’s fake rock gave me a gold nugget earlier in the day. I took it, along with two others I had in storage, to Cyrus at Re-Tail. He turned them into a golden dresser for me.

Take home the golden dresser?Once 8:00 p.m. rolled around, I went up to Club LOL to watch a performance from K.K. I asked for a random song and he performed Space K.K. for me. Even though the title makes it sound like something I’d like, it’s not very good.

K.K. performs Space K.K. at Club LOL.And today was the last day I could sell my turnips, so I headed back to Re-Tail to check out today’s price. They were buying them for 114 bells apiece, so I sold them all for 57,000 bells.

Reese: Well then...I could probably part with 57,000 bells for all of it, if that sounds OK with you?I originally bought them for 91 bells each, for a total of 45,500 bells. So I made a small profit of 11,500 bells.

Friday Night Forest

Late last night, Wendy came over to visit. And I trapped her in a bubble.

Wendy standing behind the spherical radar so that appears she was enclosed in a bubble. After she escaped, we fought it out in an epic head-butt battle.

GIF of a headbutt battle between Jeff and Wendy.Eventually, we both became braindead. So I ended the party. But Kidd was sick, so I took him some medicine.

Kidd jumps as he takes his medicine. Then today, I checked my turnip prices: 53 bells. Not good. I hope they rebound tomorrow or I’ll be out a lot of money.

But this evening, I went fishing in the river and caught my first mitten crab.

I caught a mitten crab! I'm smitten, crab! And I attended the ceremony for the opening of my cube sculpture.

Everyone fires off party poppers at the completion ceremony for the cube sculpture. Then at 10:00 tonight, I opened my gate for Friday Night Forest. Wendy and Daisy came over to visit. Daisy had a pink glow stick! She said it’s an item you can get in December. Looks cool!

Daisy holds a pink glow stick. We hung out in the cafe for a while, getting hyped up on coffee.

Jeff: COFFEE COFFEE COFFEEWe then did some diving, and I caught my first spiny lobster.

I got a spiny lobster! Who would give lobsters SPINES?Shortly after 11:00, we headed out to the island. I wasn’t a big fan of today’s tours, but we did one market value bug tour. Right as time expired, Wendy typed “Yay! I caught a pikachu!” It was formatted just like the automatic notices that tell you when one of us catches a bug, so it threw me for a loop. I had to do a double take at first, then I cracked up. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to snap a picture, but it was pretty funny.

After that, we caught some bugs and fish on the island. I did pretty good, earning 81,850 bells worth. When we returned to Forest, I worked on my paths some more. Meanwhile, Wendy was shaking an invisible tree.

Wendy shakes a tree that didn't appear on my screen. And after Daisy had disappeared for a while, she returned as Santa Clown!

Daisy wearing a clown mask and a Santa hat.I determined that my zen garden was two spaces too low for my path. I think I’m eventually going to destroy it and replace it up a few spaces, so my path doesn’t have to twist around it. But that’s not a priority for now. For now, we just decided to water it.

The three of us watering the zen garden.Shortly after midnight, I ended the party for the night. Just a reminder that the Bug-Off is tomorrow, so I’ll be back then with another update!

Also, just want to let you know that six new clothing patterns were added to the New Leaf QR Codes page earlier today, courtesy of stardrops and Beth (3 dresses and 3 tops). So be sure to check them out! Thank you again, stardrops and Beth!

Cube Sculpture & Autumn Moon

Late last night, Benedict reminded me that he was moving soon. But he gave me one last chance to change his mind. I kind of felt bad about him leaving, so I asked him to stay. He agreed to stick around.

Benedict: OK, it's official. Yep, the move is off! I guess I'll keep seeing you around! Then today, I saw Phineas! I asked him for a badge, and he gave me the Seafood Encyclopedia badge.

I got the Seafood Encyclopedia badge! This shows I'm a fan of diving!Autumn Moon

Isabelle was over by the event plaza, handing out wheat bundles to celebrate the autumn moon (harvest moon) tonight.

Isabelle: To celebrate Autumn Moon tonight, I prepared wheat bundles for everyone. Would you like one? There was also a scarecrow face cutout standee there. Benedict looked at me like I was crazy when I stuck my face into it.

Benedict gives me a funny look as I poke my face through the scarecrow face cutout standee for the autumn moon.As for the wheat bundle, this is what it looks like:

Over in my park, my cube sculpture has been completed! So I went to take a look at it.

The cube sculpture PWP.To see another picture of the cube sculpture, check out my updated town page. I couldn’t attend the completion ceremony however, because town hall was closed due to the autumn moon festivities.

Due to an event in the plaza today, our service counter will be closed. -Forest Town HallLater this evening, Aurora suggested a new public works project: a fairy-tale clock.

Aurora: Oh, Mr. Mayor, I have a request! Would you consider commissioning a fairy-tale clock here? And Isabelle was talking about how she wanted to snuggle with the moon!

Isabelle: If the moon were like a great big pillow, I'd pull it down here and I'd snuggle it every night before bed!Isabelle: I know it's just made of rocks and dust, but imagine if my little fantasy were true! That'd be so amazing!Unfortunately, there’s not a moon-viewing party where animals gather to watch the moon. That’s limited to the GameCube version of Animal Crossing. But I still stopped to admire the harvest moon up in the sky.
