Cheating Tiger

Big Top sent me a letter today, thanking me for visiting his house yesterday. He attached a metronome to the letter.

Tabby asked me for a new catchphrase, so I had her say “do I smell?”

Tabby: Hmm? What's up, do I smell?Aurora was walking away, so that should have been Tabby’s first clue that the answer was yes.

There was a new camper over at the campsite, Bianca the white tiger. She seemed okay, but I wasn’t planning on asking her to move in. I did play a game with her, though. It was the game where you get offered five items, and if you pass on the first four, you are forced to buy the fifth item no matter what.

Bianca: I'll list off the name of each piece, along with its price. If we come to an item you want, just shout out!I was planning on buying the first item that cost less than 1,000 bells, like I do on GameCube. But that strategy would backfire on me in New Leaf, because all of her items were in the 3,000+ bell range. I was stuck buying the last item, a space shuttle, for 4,652 bells. Ouch.

Bianca: You're now the proud ownder of a space shuttle... for 4,652 bells! Not a bad deal! After that, I left her tent and continued my walk. I found a gem rock today, so that was a nice, colorful surprise.

Eight colorful pieces of ore from today's gem rock. That gave me two gold nuggets, and I got a third from the fake rock. So I took the three of them to Cyrus at Re-Tail, so they could be turned into a piece of golden furniture.

But then I started thinking about Bianca again. It’s been over a month since a new villager moved into town. And I know Rolf would love to have a girlfriend…so I returned to the campsite to try to convince Bianca to move in. She wanted to play a game where she would buy an item of mine and then let me choose a card to determine the price.

Bianca: I've got 4 cards in 4 different colors with 4 different prices on 'em! All you have to do is pick 1!I had seven perfect peaches in my pockets. She said the price would determine what she would pay for one. Even though I didn’t take a picture, she specifically said one. So I picked a card, and it only said 235 bells. Ouch, losing a perfect peach for only 235 bells is not a good trade. But it’s much worse than that. She took the entire basket of seven perfect peaches! For a TOTAL of 235 bells! Wow, what a rip-off! I officially hate Bianca now, and there’s no way she’s moving into Forest. I should send Tabby in there to play some games with her.

Anyway, I returned to Re-Tail to pick up my golden furniture. Cyrus gave me a golden closet. I already had a golden closet. So I put it up for sale in Re-Tail. If any of my Wi-Fi visitors wants to buy it the next time you’re in town, feel free.

Reese: All right then, I'll stick a price tag of 15,000 bells on this item.Well, this was a pretty disappointing day in Forest. But tomorrow is my Wi-Fi night, so it should be a better day. I’ll be back with another update late tomorrow night!

Third Fashion Check Passed

I got a letter from Gulliver in the mail today. As expected, it contained a manneken pis from Belguim. I promptly added it to my museum exhibit, near the entrance door, so that it can properly welcome all visitors.

My manneken pis (peeing statue) next to my windmill in my museum exhibit room.As I was outside watering flowers, Big Top approached me and suggested a new public works project: a tire toy!

Big Top: A tire toy! If you agreed to it, we could put one right here! For some reason, I pictured a tire swing hanging from a tree. But I was way off. This is what the tire toy looks like:

Tire toy PWP: 49,800 bells. What kind of toy is that?? I’m sure you can’t bounce on it like a trampoline, and there’s no way any Animal Crossing character, human or animal, can fit its big fat head through those tires. So I’m guessing it’s just for looks. Update: You can sit on it, like a bench.

A bit later, Big Top invited me over to his house. But surprisingly, he didn’t know how to get there!

Big Top: I don't really know how to get home from here, peanut.Gracie was over at the event plaza today, giving fashion checks for a “cute” look. So that meant I’d have to go back to my house to gather my “cute” clothes. But first, I went up to Main Street. As I updated my dream town, I saw that Sacha from Cubivore was my most recent dream visitor. (Hi Sacha!)

The Able Sisters had this monster mask, which I bought.

Labelle: Oh wow! So flashy and so wonderful! While I was at the Able Sisters, I used the big sewing machine to make two new QR codes. I then returned home to display them. One is the box art from Animal Crossing: New Leaf. It didn’t come out as clear as I hoped, unfortunately. The other is the Wii U logo:

My two new designs: The New Leaf box art and the Wii U logo.If you’d like either of these patterns, they’re both available in the JVGS QR Codes section.

In my sleek room, I changed my clothes. I put on my “cute” clothes: a heart tee, green plaid shorts, and orange sandals. I didn’t have a “cute” accessory, so I left my monster mask on. This is what I looked like:

A monster dressed in "cute" clothes.Nobody in their right mind would think that makes a cute outfit, would they? Guess again. Despite how it looked, Gracie gave me a fashion check and passed me!

Gracie: I suppose you did your best, honey. And for that, I'll be kind enough to let you pass for today! This is my third passed fashion check, meaning I only need one more before I can get the final store upgrade. As a reward, Gracie gave me this pleather vest.

Back to Work

If you’ve tried working at the cafe for the past week, you’ve probably been disappointed to find that the game wouldn’t let you. That’s because the game gives players a full week (October 1-7) to meet Jack and agree to help him out on Halloween. Once you speak with him, he disappears until the 31st, but the game still treats that full week as event days. But fortunately, today is October 8th, and everything is back to normal. I was able to work at the Roost today.

Tiffany: I'll have a coffee, please. Kilimanjaro roast!Along with that, the embargo on special visitors has ended as well. Gulliver was on my beach today. He asked me about the Manneken Pis, and mentioned he’d be ashamed to do what the statue does in public.

Gulliver: I'd be a little ashamed to be seen doing something like he does in public. He sure is gutsy for a kid!He will be sending me a gift (the aforementioned manneken pis) from Belgium in the mail tomorrow.

I talked to Tabby, and she said she was hungry for fruit. A cherry, to be specific.

Tabby: I've got a big problem, master. I'm hungry for fruit, but I don't want people to see me shake a tree!So I reached into my pockets and pulled one out for her. She rewarded me with a school desk. Next, I spoke with Teddy. He was telling me about a story in which he’s a prince from another planet. Is he Teddy Prince Jr.?

Teddy: According to the story, I'm a prince from another planet! That's a tough spot to be put in!Up on Main Street, Rolf was telling me about how lonely the shopping district is. I guess he didn’t notice Harry standing right next to him?

Rolf: The shopping district is really lonely this time of day. Kind of expected, but that doesn't mean I like it!My latest dream visitor was Melissa from newleaf. So hello to Melissa if you’re reading this! And thanks for visiting my dream town! 🙂

I checked out the Happy Homes Showcase and found a new SpotPass home there. It belonged to Covet from Latte. Her main room had the mermaid furniture, along with Katie’s pic.

Katie's pic is displayed on top of a mermaid table.Covet has a lot of popular furniture sets that many people…covet. Here, you can see the sloppy set.

The sloppy furniture set in the SpotPass home of Covet from Latte. She also had a trophy room with many of her awards and villager pictures. Wait. JAMBETTE?? Sorry Covet, but that’s no accomplishment. That belongs in a horror-themed room, along with my Tabby pics.

Covet's trophy room, which also included some villager pics. That wrapped up my day in New Leaf, but I do want to share this video with you. It’s a slideshow of pictures taken during the month of September. If you’re a regular reader, you’ll remember many of these pictures and the stories behind them. The video is set to Stale Cupcakes. Enjoy!
