Saving the Bacon

Even though hump day isn’t until tomorrow, Saharah the camel was in town today. I paid her 3,000 bells and she installed an office wall and a playroom rug in my house.

An office wall and playroom rug.Outside, I met up with Gala the pig. She told me she was going to move out of town on August 24th.

Gala: On the 24th of this month, I'm venturing out into the world.I wasn’t sure if I should tell her to go or stay, so I had to think about it for a minute. Ultimately, I decided I would like to get her villager picture first. So I asked her to stay in town for now. She should thank me for saving her bacon!

Gala: Maybe it isn't the right time to move after all. Thanks for helping me realize that, ham.I found a gem rock today, so I filled up Re-Tail with a bunch of ore to sell to my villagers. Up at the Dream Suite, Luna told me that Marko from Sunville was my most recent dream visitor. And in the Happy Homes Showcase, Ian gave me another tweeter!

Getting a tweeter from Ian.This will be a great addition to my future StreetPass item giveaway stash. In addition to the tweeter, it will also include a couple balloons, a couple pinwheels, a bubble wand, and an ice cream cone.

Late Night Errands

I was a bit surprised when I went into the recycle shop and saw the Statue of Liberty for sale!

Reese: Oh, the Statue of Liberty? This item belongs to Molly from here in Forest. It was only a few hundred bells, so I bought it.

Wendy asked to come over to collect some petition signatures, and also to buy some bushes from the island. While she was here, she found a lost item that I hadn’t noticed. I ended the session before too long, and I closed my 3DS for a while, but returned to it later on. Aurora had asked me for an apple, so I tracked one down for her. In return, she gave me a neutral floor.

Aurora: Here. To express my thanks, please have my neutral floor!I was looking for my other villagers when I spotted a tarantula!

Spotting a tarantula!I got my net out and slowly walked up to it. Gotcha!

I caught a tarantula! WHAAAA! Destroy it!I ran into Kidd in the park, and he admitted that the lost item was his. He said his valuables were inside.

Kidd: My valuables are in it, so I'm glad you found it, dearie! What? What valuables? Oh, I'll never tell!In return, he gave me his picture! I already had one (or two or three), but I still appreciated the gift.

Kidd: Take my Kidd's pic with you, kidd! Just a little something as a thank-you!I also met up with Octavian, and he said he was redecorating his house. He’s barely lived here a week, and he’s already redecorating? Well, he asked me for some furniture, and I had just the thing for him: The Statue of Liberty!

Octavian: Oh! A Statue of Liberty! He accepted the gift and rewarded me with some kitschy tile. That doesn’t seem like a fair trade, but I didn’t want to argue with him. I didn’t need him spitting any eggs at me.

Fireworks and Glitches

Last night, I got everything ready so that I could buy turnips today. I cleared out my pockets and loaded up on over 300,000 bells. I started up the game today with around 6 or 7 minutes to spare, so I thought I was in good shape.

I quickly walked around town, but I didn’t see Joan. I did see Katie, however. I was seriously hoping Katie wasn’t preventing Joan from showing up as I made my second trip around town. But still, no sign of Joan. And as my completed my second circle around town, the clock struck 12 noon and it was too late.

Katie.Needless to say, I was furious at that annoying cat. She caused so many problems for me in ACCF when I was trying to hunt for Gulliver’s UFO, and she’s still causing problems for me in New Leaf. Resetti is optional in ACNL, so why can’t Katie be optional too? Personally, I think she’s the bigger nuisance.

Anyway, I had a confusing chat with Drago by my bridge. He asked what he could do for me if he died. Hmm, probably not much.

Drago: So we meet again. What can I do for you, if I die?Rolf told me that people tend to think he’s scary. So he asked for a greeting that would make people less scared of him. I told him to tell people he’s not a tiger, but a zebra!

Rolf: All right... I'm a zebra!I updated my dream town in the daylight hours again (shocking!) and while I was there, Luna told me Madi from Hyrule was my most recent dream visitor.

At 8:00 tonight, I opened my gate for fireworks. My town quickly filled up with Wendy, Tiago, and Squishy. Of course I watched some fireworks from my bridge.

Fireworks.Over by Isabelle, I helped myself to one of her dog treats. Wow, these are good!

A giant-sized Jeff.I couldn’t help but notice Wendy had quite a tan.

Jeff: You must be Shadow Link.Isabelle gave me a flower bopper and we all hung out in the event plaza.

Hanging out at the plaza.I took the elevator up to the roof of Redd’s stand (or maybe I glitched up) and watched some fireworks there.

Me watching fireworks from on top of Redd's tent.Squishy insisted she wasn’t smuggling any oranges today. But instead, she tried going on a duck hunt to kill Molly! Molly was crying and trembling in fear.

Molly: The fireworks are so pretty, aren't they? Watching them always fills me with so many different emotions. We then boarded the boat to go take a trip out to the island. All of us except Wendy, that is. She apparently had to paint her house, run a marathon, and write a novel before she hopped on. I’m waaaaaiting…

Sitting in Kapp'n's boat and waiting.Once we arrived, we went on a butterfly-catching tour. We won the gold Tortimer award and had a three-way tie for first place. Squishy was all alone in last place. Maybe she should have brought some oranges after all, to attract the butterflies!

Tortimer: Jeff gets 3 medals, Wendy gets 3 medals...The tour selection wasn’t very good today. But we also went on an item-matching tour and a lobster-catching tour. At one point, I dove for a big lobster, only to find out it was actually Squishy underwater! Oops!

Jeff: I dove for Squishy. When we returned from the island, I stopped at the top of my ramp to watch the fireworks, while Squishy raised a giant lollipop to the sky.

Watching the fireworks. After Squishy visited with Octavian, she said he reminds of her of Birdo. Wendy took it a step further and said that Octavian is Birdo.

Jeff: He doesn't blow eggs though. Wendy: Octavian IS Birdo.Up by the bus stop…oh wait, this isn’t City Folk…we watched some more fireworks. Here’s my U.S. flag pattern as a firework.

The U.S. flag as a firework. We also glitched onto the tracks and went out to the bridge to watch some fireworks there too.

Watching fireworks from the bridge. We then glitched off the bridge, and then again into the void.

Glitching into the void.Eventually, I ended up under the town and I was running all over the place. Here, I was under Octavian’s house.

A close-up look at Octavian's house. It took Squishy and Tiago a bit longer to make that last glitch down. I was now in the air above them. Just don’t ask me exactly how…maybe I’m just full of hot air.

Jeff, in the air: I see you guys.By 10:10 or so, I was about done playing for the night…but Wendy thought she might have killed some flowers while running around. I know I had some flowers missing from a previous week, so I wasn’t 100% sure if any new ones were gone. (I need to move some flowers around to fill in the gaps so I can be sure for next time). But just in case, I chose to disconnect us instead of ending the session. I had a good time, so thanks to everyone who came!

After that, I made a quick visit to Kisa’s town Kipling to drop off some wallpaper.

Visiting Kisa's town. And that wrapped up my night in New Leaf. See you next time, everyone! Thanks for reading!
