Fireworks in Tomville

Joan was selling turnips for 105 bells today, so I bought 1,000 of them from her this afternoon. Yes, I said this afternoon. I barely found Joan before the morning ended and noon arrived. And it was actually after noon when I made my purchase. Still, I got the turnips I needed, even if it was a close call.

Joan: So 1,000 turnips comes out to be... 105,000 bells altogether. Do you wanna buy them?I saved my game and returned to it later in the afternoon. I ran into Big Top, and he told me he had a dream of Melodi from Singtown. Luna would later confirm that Melodi was my most recent dream visitor.

Big Top: So the other night, Melodi from Singtown showed up in my dream!Kidd approached me and told me he wanted to move out of town. Without even thinking about it, I told him to stick around. I actually could have let him go this time, but it’s no problem. I like having him around anyway.

Kidd: Wow, if you feel THAT strongly... Maybe I shouldn't be moving!I finally got off my lazy butt and re-routed the path around Drago’s house. I plan on keeping him for a while, so I might as well fix up the area around his house a bit.

Re-routing my path around Drago's house.Over by the event plaza, Isabelle was getting prepared for the fireworks festival.

Isabelle: Oh, Mayor! Don't you worry about a thing! I've got it all under control!Just a bit north of there, near my central bridge, I found a new house plot: Octavian is moving in tomorrow!

This spot reserved for Octavian's new home. -Nook's HomesThe octo-plot is actually in a good spot, because my path already went alongside the back and side of his house. So I won’t have to move anything around.

Octavian's house plot.Even though it was too early for fireworks in Forest, Tom invited me over to Tomville, where it was five hours later. So I headed there and Andrew joined right after I did. I said “brb” because I was going to be away for a minute or two, and Tom somehow used my body to push himself (as he blew his tweeter) onto the tracks! I felt so used!

Tom41: I used BRBing Jeff to glitch!Over at Tomville’s event plaza, Tom’s Isabelle gave me a star bopper to wear.

Trying on my star bopper. And Andrew dropped three fountain fireworks for some triple fire.

Multiple fountain fireworks going off around me.Tom had glitched into the ocean by now, and he told Andrew and I to come see him at the dock. But right as we got down there, Tom’s friend Colben joined in, killing Tom. Once he came back to life, he had Colben push him so he could glitch back down again. I stood at the top of the ramp to watch some fireworks.

Watching fireworks.Once Tom got to where he wanted to be, he again called us down. He thought that if he used a Roman candle or sparkler while he was glitched under the water, maybe we’d be able to see the firework go off without seeing him holding it. But unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way. I saw nothin’.

Before long, Tom’s battery light came on and he quickly kicked us out. I found myself back in Forest, and I went up to Main Street. I noticed that Benedict is now one of the villagers that appears in the shopping district!

Benedict: Hey there, Jeff! I'm in Forest today to do some shopping. It’s nice to see him again. The animals on Main Street are former residents of course, and most of those are animals I didn’t care for (which is why I let them move out in the first place). But Benedict was one of the few that I did like, and I’m glad I’ll be seeing him on Main Street for months to come.

After I was done on Main Street, I saved and quit my game. I had already planned not to open my gate tonight, but I ended up not even playing in the one-player mode either. But this year, August has a total of five fireworks festivals! (Most years, it will only be four). So there are still three more of them yet to come. I’ll probably be opening my gate for two of the final three, but you’ll have to stay tuned for details.

Lazy Saturday

When I started up the game today, I saw that Wendy was online. She came over to shop as I watered my flowers. She was looking for bushes to buy, so we also headed to the dock, so that we could check the island for some. As she was getting on the boat, I burned a hole in her throat with a sparkler.

Burning Wendy with a sparkler. The island did indeed have some bush starts for sale, so she bought some of them. We also went on a couple of island tours while we were there, including this gardening tour.

Celebrating gardening tour success with Wendy. After returning to Forest, we took a moment to sit on my metal bench as Drago and Agent S went walking by.

Sitting on the bench with Wendy. We looked around to see if we saw Octavian’s house plot, but there was no sign of it yet. Maybe it will show up tomorrow.

I ended the session and then went to update my dream town. While I was there, Luna told me Zac from Seawell was my most recent dream visitor.

Luna: According to the latest feedback, a client named Zac from Seawell enjoyed your dream.Later on, I went up to Club LOL to catch out K.K.’s weekly show. I asked for a random song and he performed Two Days Ago for me.

K.K.: Enough tuning--let's groove. This next one is for you, Jeff. It's called Two Days Ago.

Under the Clear Night Sky

On my walk around town tonight, I stopped in front of Sprinkle’s house to take a look at clear night sky and the nearly-full moon.

The clear sky and the moon.I saw a tent at the campsite and went inside. Octavian was camping there! While Octavian isn’t one of my most-wanted animals, he is an animal that I like a lot. Plus, he recently moved out of my ACCF town. So I tried getting him to move in, but he kept either saying no when I asked, or I would lose his game when we played for the opportunity.

But after about ten minutes, he agreed to move in–without even playing a game for it. I was basically button mashing because I thought he’d always ask for a game first. So I didn’t get a picture of the screen where he agreed to move in, but I’m pretty sure I saw it. 😛

Octavian: It's almost like fate brought me here! You think maybe it's trying to tell me to live here?I was a bit late in opening my gate for Friday Night Forest, but the gate opened about 10:07 p.m.; Chris came in, followed by Tiago from Starfall.

Tiago from Starfall has just arrived in Forest.I actually didn’t know who Tiago was at first! He has been on my roster for a long time, but this was his first time visiting Forest. I showed him my house, and I got a surprise when I went to the basement: Chris was down there! I thought he was outside talking to the animals. Maybe I shouldn’t have shot the intruder.

Jeff: Burglar!A few minutes later, Lindsey also came over to visit. I hadn’t seen her for a long time. We were all hanging out in my central park area.

Lindsey, Tiago, Chris, and Jeff in the park.Lindsey was talking about how the sky and moon were so pretty tonight. When she mentioned the moon, I asked Chris if he was mooning people.

Jeff: The Great Harvest Moon Dog 86.Chris was looking at my badges and saying I was good at shooting balloons, etc. And I got to thinking, if anyone was going to hand out badges, shouldn’t it be a badger? How did the people at Nintendo miss out on a pun like this?

Jeff: Phineas should be a badger.I asked if everyone wanted to go to the island, but Lindsey didn’t want to. So we went up to Main Street and hung out at the museum. Blathers put his pincers around my head! Ouch!

Getting pinched by Blathers. After that, Lindsey went home for the night. Outside of the museum, I glitched into the pond for a minute or two, and then Tiago and I started beating up Chris.

Hitting Chris with bug nets. Now that Lindsey was gone, I asked everyone again if we could go to the island. Everyone said yes, so I headed down towards the dock. And then Chris suddenly said he had to go! Foiled again!

So Chris left, and I went to visit Gala, who now has her Arwing on display in her house. Remember how I said she could go join the Star Fox team? I think she’s really considering it!

Gala: You're absolutely right. I've always been fascinated by outer space. So when do you blast off, piggy?

Gala: I would love to be an astronaut and visit other planets. It'd be like a space safari! After a few minutes, Wendy came over. She had some pears to sell, so I waited patiently outside of Re-Tail for her to come back out. I had a fountain firework waiting for her. It looks like I caught her dress (and my hair) on fire!

Setting off a fountain firework with Wendy.I again asked if we could go to the island. The third time was the charm, because everyone agreed to go! Once we got there, we played a hide-and-seek tour. Wendy and Tiago found all the villagers in about 30 seconds. It felt like I didn’t even have a chance! 😛

We also went on an item-matching tour that we won pretty quickly as well. After that, we had our first (and only) individual competition, a market value bug-catching tour. I got second place.

Tortimer: Tiago gets 4 medals, Jeff gets 2 medals, and Wendy gets 1 medal! We then left the hut for some peaceful bug and fish-catching on the island. Despite how it looked, we weren’t just playing “follow the leader.” Well, not the whole time, at least. 😛

Three bug hunters walking in line.Once we had our fill of butterflies, beetles, and sharks (oh my!), we returned to town. We all sat at my town tree and watched the town history scroll by.

Sitting at the town tree.We also hung out by the train station for a while, talking about koalas and StreetPasses and Portugal. And of course Wendy had to go and melt my junk. (My watering can, that is).

Wendy burning Jeff with a roman candle.Around 12:40, I ended the party for the night. Thanks to everyone who came! Have a good weekend, everyone!
