Explorer’s Day

Today is Explorer’s Day (Columbus Day) in the North American version of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and Isabelle can be found at the event plaza. She hands out sailboat models to commemorate the occasion.

Isabelle: It's a sailboat model! With it, you can really get into the excitement of Explorer's Day!If you haven’t seen the sailboat model before, this is how it looks:

The sailboat model in New Leaf.King Tom doesn’t have Explorer’s Day in jolly ol’ England Tomville, so he came over to get a sailboat model of his own.

Tom41 from Tomville has just arrived in Forest. There’s also a face-cutout standee for the occasion, so Tom and I boarded Kapp’n’s ship and set sail.

Tom41: Row row row ur boat. After our short voyage, I continued to water my flowers. Tom was having some router problems, so he didn’t stick around very long.

A bit later on, Octavian randomly offered me a rocket for free. I appreciate the gift, but is there a reason for it? Is he trying to tell me to leave the planet?

Octavian: You said you wanted a rocket, didn't you?Up at the Dream Suite, Luna told me that Jerome from Jedric was my most recent dream visitor.

Big Top’s Betrayal

Joan was selling turnips for 95 bells each this morning. I bought 3,400 of them in total.

Joan: So 1,200 turnips comes out to be... 114,000 bells altogether. Do you wanna buy them?Remember the Gaudi’s lizard I gave Big Top for his birthday? Well, guess what I found up for sale in Re-Tail today! He is in big trouble with me now! I feel so betrayed!

Reese: Oh, the Gaudi's lizard? This item belongs to Big Top from here in Forest.Back outside, Drago asked me for a large furniture piece to replace a table of his. I gave him a robo-table, and he seemed to enjoy it. He rewarded me with a bow. At first I thought, a bow for my hair or something? But it’s a bow as in a bow-and-arrow.

Drago: It's a bow! Thank you, cookie! Not much else happened today. But Luna told me Amy from the town of St. Amy was my most recent dream visitor.

October Fishing Tournament

I got a letter from Wishy the shooting star today, with a rococo sofa attached. Thanks, Wishy!

The first fishing tournament of the fall was held today. Sprinkle was boasting about how she’s the most popular penguin in town! I think Aurora would object to that, as would I.

Sprinkle: I'm the most popular penguin in town, so I'm gonna capture the hearts and imaginations of the fish!Speaking of Aurora, I found her over by Re-Tail to “recycle” her catches.

Aurora: I'll need to make a trip to Re-Tail later to recycle all my...catches.Up at the Dream Suite, Luna told me that Kevin from New York was my most recent dream visitor. After I was done on Main Street, I went down to the beach to do some fishing. I caught a sea bass for the tournament, and I gave it to Chip (the judge). It measured 42.75 inches, which was good enough for first place. Chip took the fish and gave me a dab table as a reward.

Chip: Man, this is pretty big for a sea bass! Mmmm. Yum yum! Nyuk nyuk!I caught a few more fish, but I didn’t beat the record again until I grabbed some hammerhead sharks out of my dock box. One measured 91.55 inches, and that earned me a cheese wall from Chip. Another hammerhead measured 112.90 inches, and Chip gave me a sea-anemone bed. At that point, I called it a day and waited for the results ceremony at 6:00 p.m. As expected, my fish hung on to the top spot. Molly won second place and Gala got third.

Celebrating a fishing tournament win.I took my trophy and prizes up to the museum. Here’s a look at the sea-anemone bed and dab table. The bed is actually a duplicate.

A sea-anemone bed and dab table.Later on, I went up to Club LOL to hear K.K.’s Saturday night performance. I asked for a random song, and he played K.K. Folk for me.

Have you ever wondered what your house is thinking about?

Thought bubble: Massage chair.Actually I just shook a tree behind my house and that massage chair fell out. But it sure looks like the house is thinking about a massage!

My turnip prices were awful all week, and just 41 today. Wendy let me sell my turnips at her town for a better price, but I still lost money this week. She also showed me her new rice rack. Not many people have these.

Wendy: Nice rack! She also came to Forest to shop, and she just barely made it into the shops before they closed. We also hung out a bit.

Sitting on the bench with Wendy.I kept hearing farting noises!

Jeff: STOP FARTING!It wasn’t Wendy! It was one of the bugs that kept making some not-so-pleasant sounds.

Wendy must’ve been getting hungry, because she was trying to take Gala before she was ready! Just a few more days, Wendy!

Jeff: Not yet!I ended the session soon after that.
