Dreaming of Hotel Dojo

Today, I made a Dream Suite visit to a town suggested to me by gg last November. Yes, that’s November of 2013. That shows you how far behind I am on dream suggestions. The dream address is 3300-0197-4819. The town name is in Japanese, so I don’t know what it’s officially called, although gg referred to it as Hotel Dojo.

This town's Dream Address: 3300-0197-4819.One of the first things I noticed when looking at the map was that the villager houses are pretty much all in a row in the southern part of town.

The town map of Hotel Dojo.A ninja suit is available near the starting point, so I put it on as I began my tour of town. Looking over the cliff, I saw an ocean of blue roses! I’ve never seen so many!

An ocean of blue roses. My favorite part of town had the illuminated public works projects (PWPs): The illuminated heart, tree, clock, and the arch (just out of view in this picture):

A hot spring and bamboo trees.A pretty area near the wooden bridge in Hotel Dojo.If you’re looking for a good dream town to visit, you can’t go wrong with Hotel Dojo.

A fire pit, windmill, and campground in Hotel Dojo. There is one thing keeping me from doing a full Dream Suite Adventure write-up of the town, though: The houses. Don’t get me wrong, the houses are very nice and well-done. But nothing in any of them really blew me away. Maybe it takes a lot to impress me now that I’ve seen so many good dream towns, but the houses didn’t have that “wow factor” for me.

I’d love to see something truly unique that hasn’t been done; even one signature room can turn a good outdoor town into a great dream town. But with that said, Hotel Dojo is still a very good town well worth a visit. The dream address again is 3300-0197-4819. Thanks for the suggestion, gg!

I found Aurora by my town tree, and she said there was something magnetic about me today; she wanted to keep following me around. Maybe the North Pole vibe of my Santa suit was attracting her South Pole penguin roots.

Aurora: I don't know why, but I just want to follow you around town today... Sheesh, what's wrong with me?I rolled together today’s snowballs into a snowman; this was my first bingo snowman of the season. He rolled his eyes at me and rolled number 29. I needed that number on the bingo card he gave me, so I punched it off.

Snowman: Aha! It appears you do have 29! Please punch a hole in your card!I’m not really concerned about completing my own bingo card though, since I’ve already collected all of the snowman’s items last winter. I may be able to help some of you out, however. Some days (or nights, to be more accurate), I’ll be posting that day’s bingo numbers on Twitter.

I’ll be back with another blog entry tomorrow, so I hope to see you then. Have a great day, everyone!

Winter Solstice 2014

Today is the winter solstice, the longest night (and shortest day) of the year. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, this fact is taken to the extreme: The sun doesn’t come out at all! Here’s a look at Forest shortly before noon today:

A clear, dark sky at noon!I also noticed that more of the trees have Christmas lights now. Only one of these two trees had lights when the lights first appeared last Monday.

Joan: The asking price is 106 bells per turnip. What do you think, kiddo?Once evening came around, Molly informed me of something that was painfully obvious by now: The sun won’t be coming up today.

Molly: Merry Duckmas! It's the Winter Solstice, so the sun won't be coming up today.I tried to make a perfect snowmam, but I guess I didn’t make the base the right size. I ended up with a snowtyke instead. He was looking for his brother and father, but I have no use for him. Sorry, little guy!

Snowtyke: My dad and big brother aren't anywhere in this town.Isabelle was at the event plaza to celebrate the winter solstice. She was one chilly dog.

Isabelle: Hello, Mayor! Today is the Winter Solstice! It's so chilly today! She gave me a glow wand so that I could find my way around in the dark. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really work that way. But it does look pretty cool.

The glow wand that Isabelle gave me.I also stuck my face into the holiday standee. I’m the snowman that’s hanging out with the three headless people.

Remember, there’s only a few days left to get your Toy Day hints from your villagers. Are you ready for Christmas Eve? I’ll see you all next time. 🙂

Santa Visits Madisyn

Soon after starting up the game today, Big Top approached me and told he was moving out of town on December 25th. On Christmas? Ha! He’s not going anywhere.

A message posted on the bulletin board served as a reminder that tomorrow is the winter solstice–the longest night of the year. So we actually won’t see the sun at all tomorrow.

Madisyn invited me over to her town this afternoon, so I took my Santa-looking self over to Johto. Her friends Laile and X were also there. I was impressed by Madisyn’s many blue roses.

Hammer fight!Over by the cube sculpture, Santa turned into a little devil. Well, actually a big devil.

A big devil.I saw a face-cutout standee, so I put my head into Tails.

A Tails face-cutout standee.Madisyn suggested a trip out to the island, but we had to wait about 100 years for Laile to reach the dock. Just teasing, Laile. It was only 94 years. 😉

Taking the boat out to the island.

The island shop had the very rare silver axes for sale, so I bought a few of them.

Jeff: Ooh, silver axe.We went on a balloon-popping tour, and to my surprise, I actually won.

Tortimer: Jeff gets 6 medals, X gets 4 medals. But after that, Laile had to go to the bathroom, so we returned to Johto so she could leave. I had a little chat with Tutu, and she compared her friends to icicles. That’s just cold.

Tutu: Yeah, every winter, I look at all my friends like they're icicles hanging on my house, otay!I sat on the zen bench, while Madisyn ran in circles around me.

You’re making me dizzy!

We hung out in Madisyn’s house for a while, and I tried to steal her GameCube!

Jeff: *takes GameCube*Later on, I glitched onto her town tree and I started hammering people and animals that walked by.

Spinning our umbrellas. After about two hours (!) in Johto, I returned home. By this time, it had started snowing in Forest. I sat down on my metal bench near my illuminated tree.

Sitting on the bench in the snow. And I don’t believe I’ve pointed this out, but I like how the tulip topiary looks with snow on it. And now that I see this picture, I’m remembering that I forgot to use that snowball to make a snowman today. Oh well.

The tulip topiary with snow on it.Aurora advised me not to stay out in the cold too long. Wait, but then why is she saying to chill with her? 😛

Aurora: Chill with me! Don't stay still too long, or you'll freeze where you stand!I made one last stop at Club LOL, where K.K. performed K.K. Bossa for me.
