Last night, Meli came over briefly to sell some perfect cherries (they were the premium item for the day).
She posted a message on the bulletin board, warning my villagers not to mess with me. She even told them of my laser vision. I didn’t even know she knew about that!
As of today, April is upon us. Some of the trees around town are now pink.
Blanca was at the event plaza to remind me that it’s April Fools’ Day.
And yes, that is April Fools’ Day and not April Fool’s Day (note the placement of the apostrophe). I’ve actually had it wrong for years…but I have Animal Crossing to blame. Animal Crossing games have listed the holiday as April Fool’s Day both on GameCube and in City Folk.
So it bugs me not only because I’ve had it wrong for all this time, but also because I didn’t notice it in New Leaf until now. This is the third April Fools’ Day since the game’s release, after all. Oh well. Hopefully I’ll remember it for next time.
As part of the day’s trickery, villagers will try to fool you. Aurora told me that if I make a store purchase of at least 500 bells, Tom Nook will dance for me.
I then began my search for Blanca, who will appear as a clone of each villager in their houses. My first encounter occurred in Pashmina’s house. Both of them tried calling the other a doppelganger…but neither of them could pronounce (or spell) it correctly. So they ended up calling each other a wafflehanger and a waffle gangster.
I knew the real Pashmina’s birthday was on December 26th, so I was able to tell which was which. I handed the faker a towel, and she washed off her face–revealing that it was really Blanca.
Pashmina thanked me and gave me her picture. I then continued on, going from house to house. For most villagers, I knew either their birthday or their favorite quote, so I didn’t have much trouble. But then I got to Peck’s house.
Peck hasn’t had a birthday since he’s moved into town, and I haven’t received his picture, so I didn’t know his quote either. But when the two Pecks listed what they were good at, one said rock-paper-scissors and the other one said chugging milk. I took a guess, figuring that chugging milk would be wrong…and I was correct!
With Peck out of the way, I knew the last couple villagers would be no problem. And indeed, I got them all correct…just like last year. Interestingly, Dizzy was Blanca’s last victim both last year and this year.
When I went over by the desert, I spotted the faceless cat once again. Blanca congratulated me on figuring everything out, but also left me a warning to be prepared again next year.
I went into my house to take a look at my two new villager pics. Pashmina’s favorite quote is “Before you judge someone, walk a mile in her hooves.”
And Peck’s favorite quote is “The best defense is a good offense.”
And if you haven’t seen this (I’ve already posted it to Twitter and Tumblr), I have a little gift for all of you. Just scan this in Animal Crossing–it can be used in New Leaf or Happy Home Designer.
I hope you all had a nice April Fools’ Day! See you next time!
Isn’t that from when Jambette moved into your ACCF town on Friday July 13?
No, it’s actually from when I found Jambette in the dream town of Rainbow.
I downloaded the code but I noticed something, it’s called April Fool’s! (the design) shouldn’t it be April Fools’?
Yes, it should. I made the QR code in advance, before I realized I was writing it the wrong way.
I downloaded the QR code and I like it. Jambette is one of my top villagers. 🙂
No one can trust you on April Fools’ Day. Not even me, and I was warned.
I scanned that code, and I’ve never been so scared in my life…
