Leap Day 2020

Today is February 29th, a date that only comes once every four years. And it’s only the 2nd Leap Day since New Leaf has been released worldwide. The game doesn’t have a special event for Leap Day, but Isabelle does make note of it when you start up the game. And there is a bulletin board post about it.

~ Today is Leap Day ~ Today is February 29th, the day that only comes once every four years! Do you feel like you gained a day?

Molly was also talking about the occasion. She said she hopes we’re still friends the next time Leap Day comes around in four years. I hope so too, but you never know.

Molly: The next leap day isn't for another 4 years. I hope we're still friends when it comes around again.

Aurora just had books on her mind. In particular, she wanted to read books in igloos…that might be a hard thing to do now that the snow is gone.

Aurora: Spring is the season when a young woman's fancy turns to reading new books, in igloos.

Rolf asked me for something to replace his peacock butterfly, so I fished a squid out of the ocean for him.

Rolf: Ho! A squid!

In return, he gave me the peacock butterfly. I thought I was getting a good deal, but I soon found out that it only sells for 220 bells. For some reason, I was thinking it was worth more than that.

At Club LOL, I was a bit surprised to find only one villager in attendance: Dizzy. There almost always seems to be two animals there, usually sitting on opposite sides. Well anyway, I told K.K. Slider I was in a good mood, and he performed K.K. March for me and Dizzy.

Jeff and Dizzy prepare for a musical performance by K.K. Slider.

According to Luna, my recent dream visitors include Hannah from Ardmore and NovaStar from Mystic. Agent S also mentioned a dream visitor named Rebet from Hobbylos. Thank you all for visiting, and have a great day!

Throwing Hornsby a Bone

Hornsby asked me for some furniture tonight, so I thought I’d give him my skeleton. I didn’t need it any more.

Hornsby: Nice! I had my eye on a skeleton just like this one.

In return, he gave me a small magazine rack. That might not have been the fairest trade, but I wasn’t mad about it at all. In fact, I didn’t have an angry bone in my body!

Lolly told me she was thinking about moving out of town on March 3rd, but of course, I told her not to go. I then kept talking to her until she got sick of me.

Lolly: ACK! Y-You startled me.

Claudia said that she loved the scent of the peach trees in Forest. She then asked me for a peach. I went the extra mile (more like the extra acre) to grab her a perfect peach from over near the Roost. She loved it, and she gave me a seven lamp in return.

Claudia: Mmm! What flavor, if I died!

There was an igloo at the campsite, and Cherry the dog was inside. She seems pretty cool, but Forest already has the maximum number of villagers allowed. Although I have been thinking about shaking things up… Maybe someday.

At Club LOL, I spotted my former residents Elise and Tom. It was nice seeing Tom again.

Tom: Confession time: I came by because I was missing Forest. Isn't that just like me?
No, but I’m glad to see you anyway.

K.K. Slider performed K.K. Jongara for the three of us (well four, if you count Dr. Shrunk).

As a reminder, Festivale is coming up on Monday (February 24th), and the snow will be melted by Tuesday morning. If you need help with Festivale or just want a refresher on how it all works, see my Festivale Guide.

If you haven’t seen my video sharing my thoughts on the recent New Horizons Direct, you can see it here.

According to Luna, my most recent dream visitor was Lulu from Lu City. Thanks for stopping by, and have a great night (or day)! Never Stop Crossing! 🙂

Laptop for an Orange

Last Sunday, I put my wet suit on and did some diving in the ocean. That’s not something I do often, but I was doing it to record footage for a video. That video turned out to be “What Goes On Underwater.” While it’s not strictly about New Leaf, the last scene (which is probably the funniest) shows the struggles of diving in ACNL. Check it out if you haven’t seen it yet.

Today, Big Top told me that he’s been using a new shampoo that smells like raisin bread. I’m not a fan of raisins, so I had no interest in smelling his hair. Wait…does he even have hair under that helmet?

Big Top: A huh huh huh! That's 'cause I'm using a new shampoo that smells like raisin bread!
Imagine if he scratched his head and raisins fell out.

Hornsby asked me for a piece of fruit, so I gave him a perfect orange. In return, he gave me a laptop! Wow, I wish I could trade an orange for a laptop in real life!

Hornsby: A fantastic piece of fruit deserves a fantastic thank-you! Here. Have my laptop!

When I started a conversation with Agent S, she seemed shocked that I actually spoke to her. It’s been a long time, apparently.

Agent S: Wait. Is that YOU? Talking to ME? This isn't a dream? It's really Jeff-Agent S talk time?

She said I’ve walked by her a billion times without saying anything, and that’s obviously not true. I just haven’t been playing New Leaf a whole lot lately.

Agent S: Sorry, but you DO know you've walked right by me, like, a billion times and not said anything?

But she then shifted the blame to herself, saying she could have spoken to me first (which isn’t actually true), and she felt bad that maybe she was being a bad friend. Poor squirrel.

While walking near town hall, I saw Molly from the back…and it occurred to me that the back of her head looks like a Goomba from the Super Mario series. Oops, I better not tell her that.

Jeff sees Molly walking from behind, while near town hall.
Well at least I didn’t stomp on her.

I updated my dream town (which I hadn’t done in a while), and I headed to Club LOL for the Saturday night musical performance. Dizzy and Peck were in the audience, and K.K. Slider played Aloha K.K. for us.

According to Luna, my recent dream visitors include Jack from Oakwood, Sarah from Fishtown, and Timo from Skyscape. Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
