The Lolly-Pop Gift

Yesterday was Lolly’s birthday, and I made sure to attend her birthday party. I gave her a candy jar, so that she could eat some lolly-pops. 🍭

Lolly: Ooh, a candy jar. How thoughtful of you. Thanks!

Rolf was also at her party, but he only seemed to be thinking of himself. Come on, Rolf, it’s Lolly’s day!

Rolf: I'm starting to worry whether I'll get anyone at MY inevitable party. You think anyone will show up?
You’ll have one friend at your party, just like everyone else.

There was a tent at the campsite, and I found Derwin the duck inside. He’s kinda cute…in an unconventional way.

Derwin: I pretty much just decided to camp here on a whim, but it ended up being an awesome decision!

Today, Lolly sent me a letter thanking me for the birthday gift. She sent me something, too: a trash bin! Hmm, is this a sign that she didn’t like the candy? 😛

Mira asked me for some new furniture, and she said anything would be fine. So I gave her a sloppy sink that I had in my pockets. (I already have another one in storage.)

Mira: Oh! A sloppy sink? Good call!

In return, she gave me a robo-stereo. 🤖

There was another camper today, and this time it was Monique. She was one of my mortal enemies from the early days of my GameCube town. Yuck, no thanks.

Monique, at the campsite: I wouldn't call it a midlife crisis. But I feel like I need to make a change.

I found a lost item (a bag) on the ground today, and I never would have guessed what was inside: It contained petunia protein shakes that belonged to Boots!

Boots: My new petunia protein shakes are gonna beef me up like never before!

He gave me a nice bug zapper as my reward.

Cube told me that he dreamed about me eating sauerkraut until I swelled up like a balloon! That’s pretty much what happens with all the gas that sauerkraut gives you! 😆

Cube: In my dream last night, you were eating sauerkraut until your belly swelled up like a balloon!

He was worried, but also a bit jealous. 😆

Cube: I was all worried for you. But I was also kind of jealous, on Toy Day.

He also asked me to catch a pill bug for him. It didn’t take me long to track one down, and Cube gave me a natty tee in return.

Before wrapping up my game for the day, I put my money into my savings account. My balance has reached 133 million bells.

Your current balance is 133,000,000 bells.

Yesterday, I posted a video of eight things I’d like to see in the next Animal Crossing game. Of course, multiplayer games (like the tours in New Leaf) made my list. I hope you’ll check out the full list:

Happy Birthday, Hornsby!

On Monday, I found a gem rock while looking for the money rock. I’m always struck by how pretty and colorful these are. I hope they return in a future game!

Colorful gems pop out of a rock.

It was my first time playing in March, so I was a bit amused when Inkwell told me I march to my own beat. Of course, he said it in his own unique way.

Inkwell: You just kinda march to the rhythm of your own treadmill, don't ya?
I may just do that.

It was Shamrock Day (St. Patrick’s Day), so I headed to the event plaza. I stuck my face through the face-cutout standee. I’m an angry leprechaun! ☘️

Jeff the leprechaun.

And of course, Isabelle was there in her green outfit. She was handing out shamrock hats, and I promptly put mine on my head.

Wearing my shamrock hat that Isabelle gave me.

My villagers all acknowledged my hat, as I found out while talking to Cube by the…cube. (Sculpture.)

Cube: Are you enjoying Shamrock Day? We're all about greenery today, on Toy Day!

Today (March 20th) is Hornsby’s birthday! I stopped up at T&T Emporium and bought a couple of fortune cookies. One of them was a winner, and I got a kart. Wahoo!

Tommy: Ah, congratulations! The prize for Number 32 is great--a kart!

I bought some wrapping paper and wrapped up the kart before heading to Hornsby’s house. I gave it to the birthday boy, and he said he didn’t expect it. That doesn’t exactly sound like he loved it, but he should! It’s a go-kart! 😆

Hornsby, at his birthday party: A kart?! Whoa! I did NOT expect this.

My buddy Boots was also at the party, having a good time.

Boots: Hornsby looks like he's really happy. I'm glad, in a swamp!

It was nice, but there’s not a whole lot to do at these parties after you hand over a gift and talk a few times. So after a few moments, I was on my way. Happy birthday, Hornsby! 🎂

Cube was planning on leaving town, but I promptly made him change his mind. He’s not allowed to leave until I get his photo. 😛

Inkwell’s Pic, For Keeps!

Today, I started up the game to find that the snow has all melted away! The grass is green once again. Yay for spring!

Green grass returns as the snow has finally melted!

I’m also just realizing that I never changed my bricks to ice bricks for winter. Oops. 😆 Well, at least that means I don’t have to change them back. 😛

Next to the town tree, Inkwell asked me for some furniture. He said anything would do.

Inkwell: I want some new furniture now!

But I didn’t have any furniture on me, except for a balloon dresser I shot down from a balloon. I could only imagine he’d be as disappointed with balloon furniture as I would be. 😛 So I went to Harv’s campground, and bought some cornstalks instead.

Harvey: Ah! So you're interested in my cornstalks...

I took them over to Inkwell, and he loved them. In fact, he rewarded me with his picture!!

Inkwell: This Inkwell's pic ought to work for you, beefcake! Thanks a bunch for your help!

If you’ve read this blog for a while, you may remember that I (briefly) had his photo before, last year. But my game crashed during a game of Desert Island Escape, so I lost it. It was like it never happened at all. While I’m glad to have finally earned it once again, I noticed quite a coincidence…

I have a spreadsheet where I list the villager photos I’ve earned, along with the dates I got them. As I entered Inkwell’s pic into my spreadsheet, I ran across a note that I made last year. As it turns out, the first time I got his pic was on February 25th, 2024. Today is February 25th, 2025. So it’s been exactly one year to the date! Does Inkwell only give out his pic on February 25ths? 😆

At any rate, I’m relieved to have his photo now. And I saved my game immediately after, so it’s safe and secure. 😛 I put it on display in my house, and Inkwell’s favorite quote is “There’s a sucker born every minute.”

Jeremiah's pic and Inkwell's pic stare over my shoulders.

But before I could escape my house, a villager came over to visit. (It was Boots this time.) That’s one thing I hate about the newer Animal Crossing games. You can’t even use your house for more than a minute or two without someone showing up.

Boots; How about we turn your place into a gym?
How about no?

I spoke to Boots a few times, and he gave me a moth orchid before (eventually) leaving.

Anyway, Cube is now the only one of my current villagers whose photo I still need. Hopefully I can earn it sometime soon.
