Swamp Weather?

On Sunday night, I started up the game to attend the fireworks festival. It was the final fireworks show of the year, and I generally try to make it to at least one show every year.

Fireworks shine in the sky above Jeff and Aurora.

At the event plaza, Isabelle gave me a bulb bopper to wear for the occasion. But I didn’t buy any of Redd’s cookies.

I didn’t realize I blinked in the photo, or I would have re-taken it. 😛

I stopped at a few spots around town to take in the fireworks. 🙂

Moments later, Rolf seemingly fell in love with the eel in my pocket.

Rolf, When I saw your eel, my heart skipped a beat!

He offered me all the money he had, which was 3,600 bells. Nice deal! Especially since I caught another eel right after this exchange anyway.

Tonight, Boots asked me for a new catchphrase. So I told him to say “in a swamp.”

Boots: Heh heh! I hope tomorrow is clear, too! I just want today's weather to hold the way it is! In a swamp!

Cherry told me she wanted to have turf wars in another town, and it took me a minute to decide whether or not to let her leave. I did earn her photo last month, and she has lived in town for 14 months…but I still couldn’t let her go just yet. A one-year, two-month stay actually seems short for New Leaf, considering most of my villagers have been around for many years. So I told Cherry to stay, for now at least. I’m not sure what I’ll say next time she asks, though.

Jeremiah’s Pic

On July 29th, Mathilda the black kangaroo was camping at the campsite.

Mathilda, at the campsite: Hey there, I'm Mathilda. I'm just in Forest camping for a little while.

Inkwell told me he was considering changing his Splatoon weapon (his Splattershot)! 😆

Inkwell: I've been thinking about replacing my Splattershot.

I gave him a fish on a board, though I’m not sure how that would work as a weapon. 😛 But he liked it, and he gave me a storefront in return.

August 7th was Boots’s birthday, and I gave him an alpine chair for a present. He said it was the best present he’s ever received…in the past few seconds. Oof.

Boots: This is the best present ever! Uh... that I received in the last few seconds, I mean...

I had another kangaroo camper that day, Walt.

Walt, at the campsite: I heard the local specialty is one of my favorites, the peach! I love this town! GAHAHA!
Peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches.

After depositing some money, my savings account balance reached 126 million bells.

Last Tuesday, Rolf said it was time to dig up his time capsule. So I unearthed it, and we found a candy gingham tee inside. Rolf said he must’ve just picked up an item that was lying around the house and threw it inside. 😆

Rolf: I think I grabbed something that was just lying around the house and put it into the capsule. GAHAHA!

He then gave me that shirt as my reward for digging up the time capsule. Oh joy. 😛

Last Thursday, Cube was fishing off the cliff. That’s something I don’t see very often.

Today, Jeremiah was looking for an item to replace his emperor butterfly. I first bought a watermelon from Harv, but Jeremiah wouldn’t accept it because it couldn’t be placed on something else. So I went to the Nooklings’ shop and bought a chocolate fountain. He loved it!

Jeremiah: Oh! A chocolate fountain! This is perfect!

In fact, he liked it so much that he gave me his photo!

Jeremiah: It's Jeremiah's pic! Thank you, champ!

Finally! I took it home and put it on display. 🙂

His favorite quote (on the back) is “Sleep before you leap.” It took me 13 months to earn his pic, but I’m still trying to get Inkwell’s and Cube’s photos. Cube has lived in Forest for two years, and Inkwell has lived here for three years. Maybe someday!

Littering, Burying, Seeking

On Sunday (July 23rd), I found a lost item on the ground. I returned it to its owner, Jeremiah. But he said it was just an empty bag!

Jeremiah: But it's just an empty bag. I gotta think of something to put inside it.

If his empty bag was on the ground, I’m pretty sure that’s just litter, not a “lost item.” 😛 But he still gave me some stone tile to thank me for returning it.

On Tuesday, Rolf asked me to bury a time capsule for him. I’m not sure these things are worth the effort, but Rolf is one of my favorite villagers, so I agreed to help out.

Rolf: You've heard of time capsules, yes? You know, those things where you send a message to your future self?

Last night, I found Gulliver down on the beach. He was talking about tom yum kung and elephants, so I knew he was headed to Thailand. (If you’re ever in doubt, check my handy Gulliver guide.)

Gulliver: They make this really spicy, sour soup with shrimp in it! It's called tom yum kung!

Today, he sent me a tuk-tuk in the mail.

Cherry asked me to play a game of hide-and-seek tonight, and I agreed to play. She gave me 15 minutes to find her, Inkwell, and Aurora.

Cherry: Jeff, if you find all three of us within 15 minutes, you win!

In less than a minute, I found Aurora and Cherry, who both stayed near the plaza.

Cherry: Waaah! You scared me!

And in within another minute (or less), I found Inkwell hiding behind his own house. 😆

That was a really quick game! Cherry rewarded me with a tabletop game.

Molly asked me to deliver a gift to Inkwell, so I took over a painter’s tee. Inkwell couldn’t wait to try it on.

Inkwell: This is going on my bod right now!
He gave me a grape tee as thanks.
