Bad Trades

On February 25th, the snow melted and grass was green once again. My brick path was still made of ice bricks in these first few photos, but I’ve since changed them back to green bricks.

Green grass returns around the statue fountain.

Cube approached me with a suggestion for a trade: He wanted my silver nugget in exchange for his moldy shirt. Wow.

Cube: So how about trading your silver nugget for my moldy shirt?

Since I’m afraid to turn him down for anything (since I’m still desperately trying to earn his photo), I agreed to the trade. But he had the nerve to imply that it was an even trade: He said we traded treasure for treasure!

Cube: Yesssss! Trading treasure for treasure is win-win for both of us!
You mean trading treasure for mold.

As you can see in that picture, Saharah was in town. I paid her 3,000 bells for a sci-fi wall and a closed road.

A sci-fi wall and closed road in my house.

At Club LOL, I told K.K. Slider I was feeling a bit sad, and he performed King K.K. for me and my former resident Peck.

The credits roll as K.K. Slider performs for Peck and Jeff.

As a side note, Peck moved out of town nearly seven years ago, but he’s still hanging around Main Street. That shows you how infrequently new villagers move in and out around here. 😛

After the show, I found a lost item (a bag) down on the beach around 11:30. I started asking around, and it didn’t belong to Inkwell, Rolf, Boots, Aurora, Molly, or Cherry. Everyone else was asleep! But fortunately, the lost item was still intact the next day, and I returned it to Hornsby. He said there was raisin bread inside of it! He then rewarded me with a noodle tee.

Hornsby: The raisin bread I was saving is still inside! I'm so gonna eat all of it when I get home, schnozzle.
You are home.

Tonight, Inkwell told me that he was a man who loves his festivals in the sea. Appropriate, but you’re not going to get to many of those in this game.

Inkwell: I'm a man who loves his festivals, in the sea!

I saw a really big fish shadow in the river, and I caught a stringfish! That’s worth 15,000 bells!

Jeff, after catching a stringfish: OH MY GOSH!

But wouldn’t you know it? It didn’t take long for Cherry to ask about it.

Cherry: Hey! I'm curious about an item. Ready? Stringfish. You got a line on anything like that?

She offered to trade a cloudy tee for it. Since I’m afraid to say no to villagers I still need photos from (since they take seem to take years in this game), I agreed to the trade. This is actually even worse than the silver nugget for moldy shirt trade. Oof.

Cherry: Heh heh... Maybe that was a better deal for me than for you. Sorry! On Toy Day!
She knew what she was doing.

I’m starting to think my four newest villagers get together and brag about the awful trades they’ve weaseled me into. 😛 “As long as we never give Jeff our photos, he’ll do anything we want!”

There was a heavy meteor shower starting at 7 p.m., and Beth came over to wish on a few shooting stars with me.

Jeff and Beth wish on some shooting stars.

Later on, Jeremiah asked me for a butterfly. I grabbed an agrias butterfly from my dock box, and gave it to him. He rewarded me with a bathroom stall.

Jeremiah: It's a bathroom stall!

Snack Bar Petition

On January 26th (the day after I posted my last entry), my snowman rolled a #31 for me. That gave me my long-awaited first bingo of the winter!

Snowman: BINGOOOOO!

For completing my bingo card, he rewarded me with a snowmobile. Snowman bingo is fun and all, but after all that work, I basically retired from snowman bingo for the rest of the winter. It just takes sooooo long to get a single item. 😛

Three days later, Cube was celebrating his birthday with fellow penguin Aurora. I gave him that same snowmobile as a birthday present.

Cube: A snowmobile?

He seemed to enjoy it, and he had a nice party.

Yesterday (Thursday, Feb. 16th), Jeremiah asked me to collect signatures for a petition, “We Need a Town Snack Bar.” Since I knew Beth has been actively playing, I asked her if I could collect signatures in her town. She said yes, so I headed over to Cassia! My former villager Agent S was the first signature I got.

Agent S: Well, you got it! This is a cause that I can get behind!

It only took a few minutes to collect all of the other signatures I needed. Julian (but not my former Julian) completed the list.

Petition: We Need a Town Snack Bar. Signed by Agent S, Muffy, Maple, Cousteau, Fauna, Julian.

I returned the petition to Jeremiah, and he rewarded me with a soda fountain.

Festivale is coming up on Monday, and some of my villagers are looking forward to it. That included Aurora.

Aurora: It's almost time for Festivale! I can feel Forest getting ready to dance. Just a few more days!

And if you’re wondering why her eye looks funny, it’s just awkward placement of her simple kettle. It looks like her eyes are open there, but they’re actually closed. 😆

If you need any help with Festivale, or a reminder of how it works in New Leaf, check out my Festivale Guide to answer all your questions. 🙂

I found an igloo at the campsite today, perhaps for the last time (since the snow will be melting on February 25th).

Standing by an igloo in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Bruce the deer was inside, and I politely said hello.

Bruce: Even I think I'm a bit crazy for going camping out of town in this cold weather...

Jeremiah asked me to play a game of hide-and-seek, and I accepted the challenge. He gave me 15 minutes to find him, Cube, and Lolly. I found Lolly behind a tree (near the illuminated clock) almost immediately, and I saw Jeremiah behind Inkwell’s house soon after.

Jeremiah tries to hide behind a house during a game of hide-and-seek in ACNL.

So after just 40 seconds, I was two-thirds of the way to victory. While Cube took me a bit longer, I still had over 11 minutes remaining on the timer when I found him behind his own house!

Cube: No! How'd you find me?! I was in super-stealth mode and everything!

For winning the game, he rewarded me with his stool.

Back to Bingo

Earlier this month, my former villager Agent S (who moved out last July) has shown up again in Beth’s new town, Cassia! I went over to visit her. 🙂

Agent S: It's Sweet-J! I'm so happy to see you! Didja come over to play with me?!

Beth also visited my town, and she fell for the oldest trick in the book: The pitfall behind the face-cutout standee. 😉

Beth falls into a pitfall.

While she was over, I checked the igloo and saw that Tucker was camping in Forest.

Tucker: Hey there! I'm here in town camping! I picked Forest randomly off a map.

At GracieGrace, Beth and I appeared to come out of the stairway at the same time, and yet she was already talking to Gracie. 😆

Beth speaking to Gracie while still entering the room.

Last Friday, I built a perfect snowboy; he sent me a snowman bed in the mail. And on Sunday, I made my first (bingo) snowman in a long time. His friend code number was 4.

Snowman: 4!

Cube was looking forward to the warmer weather of spring, but he sure expressed it in a curious manner.

Cube: I want it to get warm soon, so I'm rooting for young lady spring, on Toy Day.

Beth and I went out to the island and went on a couple of tours: one balloon-popping tour and a bug-catching tour.

Tortimer: Hope you had a cool time.

When we came back, I buried a pitfall seed for Beth. It didn’t quite work, because she simply dug it up. But when she tried to bury it for me instead, it backfired, and she fell in! 😉

Beth falls in a pitfall.

On Monday, Kitty was camping out in town. I’m not a big fan of Kitty, so I hope this is the last time I see her in Forest.

Kitty: Excuse me, but are you from Forest?

Yesterday, I had yet another camper: Freckles. She’s a big improvement over Kitty, but I’m not interested in her either.

Freckles: Yoo-hoo! I wasn't sure if it'd be such a good idea to set up camp in the winter...

Poor Lolly fell into the daily random pitfall. Oh no! 🙁

Lolly, in a pitfall: AAAAH!

Beth and I have been exchanging bingo numbers lately, and we stopped briefly to sit on the bench last night.

Jeff and Beth sit on the bench as a geyser erupts in the background.

I found Cherry at the museum, and she was being rather dark. 😛

Cherry: I bet you and me will get dug up at some point in the distant future and put on display like this.

Today, I got a triple ding from my Snowman (meaning I’m one number away from a bingo in three different ways). Oof.

Snowman: This is even rarer than an actual bingo!
Lucky me.

Later on, I even got a quadruple ding and a quintuple ding, even though the snowmen don’t recognize anything higher than a triple. (1st and 4th rows, 4th column, and both diagonals).

Close to a bingo in five ways.

Bingo can be fun, but it can also be frustrating at times. At least Beth had some better luck, and she scored a bingo in Forest tonight. 😀

Beth celebrates a bingo.
Congrats, Beth!
