It’s New Year’s Day, and that means that Isabelle can be found standing out at the event plaza. She hands out gifts for the occasion, and this year’s item is a zodiac ox.

There was also a face-cutout standee for the holiday. Look, I’m recklessly playing with fireworks! Yay!

I took the zodiac ox back to my house, replacing the zodiac rat of 2020.

All of my villagers wished me a happy new year. Let’s hope it’s better for all of us!

As night fell, the northern lights started appearing in the sky over Forest.

Inkwell vowed to be hugely successful in 2021.

Maybe he could bring us a new Splatoon game? At first I thought maybe it’s too soon for another Splatoon game, but then I realized it’s not. There were only two years between Splatoon 1 and 2, and 2021 would make four years since Splatoon 2 came out! But I’m not getting my hopes up anyway. 😛

Boots asked me to catch a carp for him, and I agreed to help out. It took me five or six minutes, but I caught one for him. However, I had trouble finding Boots around town. It turned out that he went on to bed! He didn’t give me much of a chance to catch the fish first! 😮

I received Claudia’s goodbye letter in the mail when I started up the game this evening. She sent me her picture!

Her favorite quote (on the back of the photo) is “A tiger can’t change its stripes.”

It’s my 34th villager pic. After I put it into storage with the others, Big Top barged into my house. He compared being in my house to the comfort of wearing fuzzy slippers…at the zoo. 😛

I spoke to him a few times until he gave me a gift–a polka-dot sofa. I then sat down until he decided to leave.

When I visited Inkwell, he told me he recently nabbed a jewelry thief: Lolly! 😮

But he quickly realized his mistake: Lolly was just carrying marbles.

Saharah was in town, and I paid her 3,000 bells for some new wallpaper and flooring. She installed a meadow vista and a lunar surface. I like both of them, but they don’t exactly go together. 😛

Outside, I rolled up today’s snowballs in an attempt to make a snowmam. However, I ended up making a snowtyke by mistake. He complained about not having the rest of his family around. That’s how I feel about New Horizons only having snowboys.

At the Dream Suite, Luna informed me that Momo from Moonopia was my most recent dream visitor. Thanks for stopping by!

On December 7th, Claudia informed me that she would be moving out on the 17th! I obviously did not try to stop her. 😛

Saharah was in town, so I hired her to install some new wallpaper and carpeting. But as she followed me to my house, she got stuck on…Aurora?

I found a lost item on the ground after I spoke with Saharah again. She ultimately installed a skyscraper wall and a classroom floor for my main room.

Shortly after that, I saved my game and didn’t play again until today (the 17th). I realized that I forgot about the lost item last time, because it turned into just a book! Even more surprising is that Reese considers books to be garbage! She wanted a disposal fee to take it!

I went over to Claudia’s house to say goodbye. She’s all packed up and ready to go.

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know I’m glad to get rid of her. I never wanted her in the first place.

My town will now have a vacancy, although the 10th spot won’t fill up on its own, so who knows how long it’ll take to get a replacement. Especially because I no longer play the game online or take it out for StreetPass hits. But at least campers will be an option.

Of course, winter is here now. Snow covers the ground, and villagers have started to tell me what they want for Toy Day. Lolly wants an orange home appliance.
