Doing the Shrunk Funk Shuffle

Late last night, I had a little chat with Molly.

Molly: You're right, of course! Putting your heart and soul into something always makes it better!Big Top was upset because he couldn’t wait for the next Animal Intersection game to come out.

Big Top: Booooo! Why can't the next Animal Intersection game come out sooner?Molly told me something very interesting about Cyrus at Re-Tail. Apparently if you take a song and a giant clam shell to him, he can make a music box out of them!

Molly: If you take him your favorite music and a giant-clam shell, he'll turn them into a music box!And today, Tom Nook expanded my upstairs room, so I went to check it out.

My newly expanded (and cloudy) upstairs room.Outside, Big Top approached me and asked if I knew what a time capsule was. Haha, I guess this means he forgot about what I did to his last one. 😀

Big Top: Do you know what a time capsule is, boss? It's kind of like a message for your future self. But he once again asked me to bury a time capsule, and this time I’ll be sure not to accidentally open it.

I then headed up to Club LOL. I gave Shrunk a cherry and he taught me the Shrunk Funk Shuffle!

Shrunk: To celebrate your debut... Well, it's not a joke, but I'm going to teach you the Shrunk Funk Shuffle! The Shrunk Funk Shuffle is a ridiculous (and hilarious) little dance that’s sure to make people laugh. And that was the last emotion there is for me to learn, so my joke book is now complete.

I've filled all the pages of my joke book. Now I'm a certifiable emotion comedian at last!He also gave me his hideous, tacky jacket. Naturally, it’s called Dr. Shrunk’s jacket.

Me wearing Dr. Shrunk's jacket, which was my reward for completing my joke book.I’m not a fan of Dr. Shrunk’s jacket, but that last emotion has already become one of my favorites.

Next, I went over to the Roost to work a shift. Coco came in from out of town for some coffee.

Coco: I'd like a cup of coffee, please.
Wouldn’t you rather have some cocoa?

I did pretty good today (but not perfect) and earned some superb coffee beans. I went up to Main Street for a shopping run. The Able Sisters had a King Tut mask, so I bought it.

Labelle: The King Tut mask? That's a pretty good choice. After I was done, I opened my gate for best friends so Wendy could come and shop too. She just happened to be dressed as Cleopatra, so I thought it would make a good picture if King Tut and Cleopatra posed by my pyramid.

King Tut and Cleopatra (Jeff and Wendy) posing by the pyramid PWP.I also showed her my funky Shrunk Funk Shuffle dance. It’s not every day you get to shake your butt for Cleopatra. She really seemed to enjoy it.

Jeff dancing the Shrunk Funk Shuffle for Cleopatra (Wendy).Later on, Molly approached me and said she wanted to move out of town!

Molly: So I wanted to talk to you about something... I'm leaving town on the 16th of this month.Absolutely not! I wasn’t going to let her waddle away until the very next day, I stopped her right then and there!

Molly: I was about to make a big decision based on a whim! Thanks so much for making me reconsider! That’s all for today, but I’ll back with more tomorrow. In the meantime, if you’d like to take a look a behind-the-scenes look at how the stalk market works, here’s a video from TheWarpZone that explains it all:

Getting the Cafe Uniform

Tom Nook has now applied the astro exterior to my house.

My house with the astro exterior. And over at Re-Tail, there was a large bookshelf for sale. And they’re not kidding, this thing is huge!

A very large bookshelf on sale in Re-Tail.I made a quick stop at Club LOL; I gave Shrunk a mango and he taught me the daydreaming emotion. It’s basically an empty thought bubble.

Shrunk: If I won first prize, I'd buy a yacht, and then get a hot tub for my yacht, and some sort of robot butler...I only need one more emotion and I’ll have them all! I should get it tomorrow, if I remember to play before 8 p.m.

Back in town, Benedict approached me and gave me a caveman tank. I didn’t realize cavemen ever drove tanks.

Benedict: Since you're always helping me out, I got you a little present. It's a caveman tank!I then headed over to the Roost to work a shift. My first three customers were regular villagers, whose orders I got perfect. Could I finally have a perfect day in the cafe? Not so fast. In walked Tom Nook for the first time.

Tom Nook: One cup of coffee to go, yes, yes!
Sure thing, Mr. Nook. That will be 598,000 bells. Pocket change, yes yes?

Being his first time in, I had no idea how to make his coffee. I ended up getting it partially right, but not perfect. Bummer. I still got superb coffee beans for the day, and that’s not all. Brewster also gave me a cafe uniform that I can wear at any time!

Wearing my new cafe uniform in the Roost. I got it from Brewster. The cafe uniform looks nice, but it does not go well with my basketball shorts. I’ll have to buy some pants to match it.

Back outside, I ran into Phineas!

Phineas: Well, hello there, youngster. I find the stillness of the night to be quite calming. He gave me a Balloon Hunter badge, for popping a lot of balloons. I appreciate the fact that I’m getting a new badge of course, but is popping balloons really a skill that merits a reward?

I got the Balloon Hunter badge! Popping balloons is so much fun!

Anyway, I continued my walk around town and I saw Katt. I had a great conversation with her! No, I’m not being sarcastic. I’m serious! She suggested a police station as a town project! Awesome!

Katt: Hey, so I was thinking... Do we need a police station in Forest? I mean, things are peaceful now...I’m not sure which police station I’ll choose just yet. I do prefer the modern one, but it comes with Copper–and I would prefer Booker. Well, I’ll have to think about it.

Aurora was still sick unfortunately, so I bought some more medicine for her. It’s hard to get a good picture of animals backflipping in New Leaf, because of the delay when you press L and R to take a picture. In ACCF, pictures were taken instantaneously. (Say fuzzy pickles).

Aurora takes some medicine.

I spotted Saharah in town, and I paid her the 3,000 bells to make over my house.

Saharah: My vision. It will grow on you. Like a stray hair. Pluck it, you must not!She installed an autumn wall and a sand garden. It actually doesn’t look bad.

The autumn wall and sand garden floor I got from Saharah, as seen in my house.I decided to keep the autumn wall for now, although I changed the flooring back to my backyard lawn.

I made a brief trip to the island to catch some bugs, and I returned with enough money to pay off my next house expansion. I decided to enlarge my room on the second floor.

Tom Nook: You want to widen the room on the second floor, hm?And before I was done playing for the night, I decided to check out the Happy Homes Showcase. To my surprise, two new homes were available there. They were apparently both from SpotPass: Rich from Ramburg and Krys from Clover. Rich’s house wasn’t anything spectacular (unless you like lots of gyroids), but Krys’ house was pretty cool. This is the main room:

The nice living room in the SpotPass home of Krys from Clover. The bathroom was also quite nice:

The Great Pyramid

Late last night, I caught my first piranha.

I caught a piranha! Or did it catch ME?!As for today, I finally deleted my Dude and Dudette characters that I used to make my New Leaf Hair Guide. And while working in the cafe, I got Tabby’s order perfect. She mentioned that I must be keeping notes on her. Sadly, it’s true. This job requires it.

Tabby: Have you been taking notes on me or something? It's like you have me all figured out, what am I?!I then went south to see my new pyramid! It’s pretty cool, but the size isn’t exactly overwhelming.

Standing next to my new pyramid PWP.As expected, you can see it from the beach…

My new pyramid PWP, as seen from the beach.…and the dock.

My pyramid PWP as seen from the dock.It looks nice though, and I’m happy with it. But I’m hoping my villagers will start suggesting some new projects now though!

A bit later, I ran into Tabby…who seems to be losing it. She said she heard flowers telling her that she wasn’t cute. Oh, it’s not just the flowers saying that.

Tabby: I just overheard these flowers gossiping about me, Jeff. It was so MEAN what they said!So she asked me if she was supercute.

Tabby: They said I wasn't supercute! Please tell me I've still got it. I'm irresistibly cute, right?I told her no, but she wouldn’t hear it. Her denial fits right in with Forest’s new Egyptian theme. So she kept asking me over and over!

Tabby: You said I'm the cutest girl around... In this town... Or any other... RIGHT, Jeff?Eventually all the options were a form of “yes,” even if it was a sarcastic “Sure you are…” response, so I had to go with that. With that awkward discussion over with, I headed to town hall. It was time for the pyramid’s completion ceremony.

Firing party poppers at the completion ceremony for the pyramid PWP.Next, I made a trip up to Main Street. I had received my calm painting in the mail from Crazy Redd, and it turned out to be real! So I donated it to the museum and had a look at it in the art gallery.

Description of calm painting: This is an example of pointillism. The scene of the crowd is actually made entirely out of small dots. And in Nook Homes, I saw something I wanted…for the first time ever. I decided to splurge on the astro exterior.

Tom Nook: That astro exterior is a sample used for renovating your exterior walls, hm?In T.I.Y., I purchased some medicine for Aurora. She’s been sick, so I wanted to help her out.

Aurora takes some medicine. My friend Wendy wanted to come over and shop, so I opened my gate briefly. She brought Katie with her.

Katie: OK, I'm gonna go see what Forest is all about! So long, friend! After Wendy was done shopping, I closed the gate. I remembered that I still needed to feed Shrunk, so I took him a peach. He taught me the love emotion.

Shrunk: But little does she know... I love feeling like a big joke!I only need two more emotions!

Using the love emotion in Club LOL. I heart it.And I recently discovered that my modern clock project lights up each hour! During the hourly chimes, the empty middle part has rainbow-like lights that scroll diagonally. Even though the lights only last for 10 seconds or so, it’s a nice, surprising little feature.

Watching my modern clock light up at the top of the hour!UPDATE: I opened my gate tonight just before 11:00 to let some people see the modern clock light up in person. Unfortunately, we got disconnected at 10:59, so we missed it. I reopened my gate for an hour though. Wendy, Annissa, and Aaron came over. We joined up at my pyramid.

Wendy, Jeff, Annissa, and Aaron standing at the pyramid project.Wendy and Annissa trapped me there, so I tried to cut through the pyramid to escape. It didn’t work out so well.

Awwwww! My axe broke...After hanging out in my house for a while, we went to the island for two tours. I won the bug-catching one, probably due to a valuable butterfly I caught literally in the last second.

Tortimer: Jeff gets 6 medals, Annissa gets 4 medals. And we rushed back to Forest just before midnight, so we could all witness the modern clock lighting up.

Watching the modern clock light up at midnight. After that, I ended the session for the night. I’ll be back with another update tomorrow.
