Working at the Cafe

I finally got a haircut that I liked at Shampoodle.

My new haircut. For those of you wondering about the hair guide I’m working on, I made a second character for my haircut tests and I hope to have the guide done over the weekend.

And in Super T&T, I got what I’ve been waiting for: A Metroid!

Tommy: Ah, congratulations! The prize for Number 47 is great--a Metroid! Now I think I’m done buying fortune cookies for the time being. I have everything I want, so I’m going to start spending all my play coins on the 3DS puzzle swap instead.

And today, I started working my job at the cafe!

Brewster: ...All right. You have to make the coffee exactly as the customer asks. Coo...Wearing my cafe uniform and working at the Roost on my first day on the job.The customers come in and place their orders. They’ll tell you how they want their coffee.

Benedict: Coffee, please! With just a little milk! But it’s not as easy as it sounds! You have to choose the type of beans, how much milk, and how much sugar to put. But the customers will only specify one of those things! There doesn’t seem to be any way of knowing the correct way to make it! Maybe you have to just keep guessing at it each day until you accidentally get it right? Needless to say, my first day didn’t go so well.

Animated GIF showing Benedict, Kapp'n, Fuchsia, and Rory all disappointed by their coffee I made them. When I was done with my four customers, Brewster paid me…in coffee beans.

Brewster: ...All right. Today I'm paying you in normal coffee beans. They're OK, but not the best. Coo.I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do with them. Oh well.

Anyway, I figured it was time to re-draw my cut-out standee. I still used a stick figure, but this time I gave it a hangman theme. I guess Villager didn’t do so well at Smash Bros. after all.

My Villager hangman face-cutout standee design.Phineas was in town today, and he gave me the Insect Maniac badge for catching a lot of bugs.

I got the Insect Maniac badge! It's proof I've caught many different kinds of bugs! And speaking of bugs, I saw a violin beetle on my tree stump. I caught it and donated it to the museum.

After a trip to town hall, I attended the ceremony for my brand new fountain! It looks great!

The completion ceremony for my fountain PWP!In the mail today, I got a letter from Gulliver that he sent from Greece. He sent me a pair of gladiator sandals, oddly enough. I was expecting furniture, but that’s okay. They didn’t look very good on me, so I put them on display in my Gulliver exhibit at the museum.

The gladiator sandals I got from Gulliver, as seen in my museum exhibit.I then took a peach over to Shrunk at Club LOL. He taught me the “thought” emotion.

Shrunk: Prepare to see emotion in motion! You shall now see dots appear in the very air!And I’m going to pass along a tip I got from sweetpeacrossing on Tumblr. There IS a way to take a screenshot of your town map after all! You have to go into town hall and tell Isabelle you want to demolish a town project. (You may have to wait until your current project is done before you have this option). She will ask which project to demolish, but of course you don’t want to select anything. But while you’re on this screen, the map will be displayed on the top, which allows you take a picture! So press L and R to take the picture, and then cancel out of the demolition screen. And with that said, here is a current picture of my town:

The town map of Forest as of June 20th, 2013.Today marks my 50th day with Animal Crossing New Leaf, and it’s also my 50th day blogging about my life in Forest. I haven’t missed a day yet! I hope you’ll keep coming back every day for more! Have a great day, everyone!

Waking Up Gulliver The Easy Way

After having my coffee at the cafe today, Brewster asked me to come work for him!

Brewster: Would you be interested in working here...? I'd pay you, of course...He told me I could start tomorrow! Hopefully it won’t involve serving Katt, because I’ll quit.

Brewster: You can start tomorrow. Looking forward to it... Coo.And I decided to have a little fun with my megaphone today. I called around to my animals to find out where they were… and I even yelled for Rory when I was standing right next to him. He got mad at me.

But the best part was when I saw Gulliver unconscious on the beach. One yell and he jumped up and was wide awake! This has got to be the best use for the megaphone yet. It’s so annoying when you have to talk to Gulliver 20 times just to wake him up, so this was a big time saver!

Gulliver: AYE AYE, SIR!Gulliver: Wait. How did you know my name is Gulliver?!Anyway, his clues indicated he was going to Greece. So I should be receiving a gift from him in the mail tomorrow.

Gulliver: How did you get into my brain? After that, I decided I was due for another town project. I chose to build a fountain. I put it just a bit south of the train station/railroad tracks, so it’s not too far from where its position was in City Folk.

Lloid: Hey, contribute to a campaign to fund a fountain! The cost was just a hair over 99,000 bells–much cheaper than it was on City Folk, oddly enough. So I paid it off right away. It will be completed tomorrow.

Isabelle: We've met our collection goal for the fountain project! It should be complete tomorrow! After finding my four fossils, I headed up to Main Street. One of the fossils was new; the others were duplicates. And in Club LOL, Shrunk taught me the joy emotion.

Dr. Shrunk teaches me the joy emotion.Down the street, in the supermarket, Benedict commented on how much he liked the name “Super T&T.” In fact, he told me to start calling him Super Benedict. Not gonna happen, Chicken Man.

Benedict: That's why from now on, I'd like you to call me Super Benedict, uh-hoo!And I almost forgot to check out my house expansion! So I went up to take a look… All that money, and it’s still just 6×6. Nook is such a rip-off in New Leaf.

My upstairs room has been expanded to 6 x 6.Just a couple Wi-Fi related notes:

1. About half of the people I’ve tried to play with in New Leaf had trouble connecting. I think I may have fixed the problem. Nintendo has updated their list of possible solutions for the 018-0512 error code I had been receiving, so I tried the part where I manually assigned an IP address to my 3DS. After that, I was able to connect with someone I wasn’t able to connect with before. So maybe I’ll be able to play with those of you who have had trouble. But I still recommend that those of you that had the errors also try it out. Here is the link.

2.  Friday Night Forest comes to New Leaf! This Friday, I’ll be opening my New Leaf gate at my old ACCF time, Friday at 10:00 p.m. Eastern U.S. time (that’s 7 p.m. for those in the Pacific time zone). So if you’re on my roster, stop on by!

Best Buy DLC – Raccoon Wall Clock

Late last night, I did some fishing and diving. I caught my first scallop, and as soon as I did, Pascal popped up behind me!

Pascal pops up out of the ocean behind me as I catch my first scallop.Naturally, he wanted to take my scallop. But no! This is my first one! It’s going to the museum. I’ll give you the next one, my creepy aquatic stalker.

Pascal: Hey, maaaannnnn, how's about you gimme that scallop you caught? And today, I paid off my house expansion at the post office.

I finished paying off my home loan!Over at Re-Tail, Reese was paying 311 bells for turnips!

Reese: Currently, I'm buying each turnip for 311 bells. So I sold my 100 turnips for 31,100 bells. That’s a profit of 21,000 bells! I tripled my investment. Not bad.

Reese: Ooh, 100 turnips! I can take that item off your hands for 31,100 bells, if that's OK?While I was in there, I also had Reese look at my famous painting I got in the mail from Crazy Redd today. Unfortunately, it was a fake after all.

Reese: Oh no! If you look very closely at it, you can see it's a fake! And before darkness fell, I made a rare daytime trip to the island. I caught my first whale shark!

I caught a whale shark! It could have swallowed me up!I also caught a number of daytime bugs I hadn’t caught yet. That included a grasshopper, migratory locust, and a monarch butterfly.

And later on, I got the Best Buy exclusive DLC, the raccoon wall clock!

Pelly: Sorry to keep you waiting! I hope you enjoy your new raccoon wall clock! You can get this raccoon wall clock DLC at your local Best Buy. Keep in mind that this promotion is for North America only, so it unfortunately won’t work for those of you in Europe, Australia, or elsewhere. But this is what it looks like:

The raccoon clock wall Best Buy DLC.If you’re wondering if the raccoon wall clock can be ordered from the catalog like regular DLC can, the answer is YES! It will cost 1,600 bells. Not bad.

Raccoon wall clock DLC: 1,600 bells. After that, I went into Nook Homes to have a chat with Mr. Tom Nook himself. Since my house is paid up, I’m now able to choose the next expansion. I’m a bit tired of these tiny 4×4 rooms, so I chose to expand my second floor. Tom Nook will complete the work tomorrow, but I now owe him a whopping 498,000 bells.

Tom Nook: Your loan will come to a total of 498,000 bells. This is perfectly acceptable, yes?And before I finished up for the day, I stopped in Club LOL to get a new emotion. This time, Shrunk taught me the “aggravation” emote.

Shrunk: But I just couldn't say no, so I said OK, OK, OK. this made the blue-haired ladies light up with glee!
