My Lucky Socks

Soon after starting up New Leaf today, I got some good news. Gabi is moving out on June 1st!

Gabi: Right now it's looking like I'll go on the 1st of next month. Don't get me wrong. I love this place. It’s interesting that she’s announced her move before I even got a replacement for Harry.

Anyway, I’m not a good artist at all…but I decided to draw a simple picture for my face-cutout standee. Look, I’m STEVE HOLT!

My horrible stick figure design for my face-cutout standee. And then I spotted a fenced-off area. Benedict the rooster will be moving in tomorrow. Although, he’s going to be living right next door to Yuka. Good luck to him.

Sign: This spot reserved for Benedict's new home. -Nook's HomesI found the money rock and got eight hits in…but I didn’t get the usual 16,100 bells. I got 32,000 bells! Wow! I didn’t understand why I was so lucky, until I noticed Katrina’s tent and went inside. She said the key to unlocking good fortune was…

Katrina, telling me my lucky item: Socks...Socks. I was already wearing socks, so that explains why I already had the good fortune.

Katrina: Since you are already wearing a lucky item now, I think you will be fine for today...Then I headed up to Main Street. I gave Shrunk three peaches and he taught me the “outrage” emotion! That is yet another rare emotion that I’ve been trying to get in City Folk for years.

Shrunk: My old teacher's Outrage Joke is the thing to CURE what ails you!And that’s no hogwash.

Shrunk: "Hogwash, madam!"With the bells I got from the money rock earlier, I easily had enough money to finish off paying my current home loan. I’ll be getting an upstairs built tomorrow!

Tom Nook: The work will be fully completed by tomorrow morning. I'm so sure you must be very excited, yes, yes! After I was done on Main Street, I returned to Forest. I went in Yuka’s house and I think I walked in on something…

Katt glares at me while in Yuka's house. An ugly convention perhaps. I didn’t hang around too long, and I soon made a trip to the island. I have now earned enough medals to buy a wet suit! Unfortunately, they didn’t have one on sale today. But I did a little fishing, and I caught a blue marlin. It’ll be going in the museum.

I caught a blue marlin! What a true darlin'!One of the fish I caught was a sea bass. I didn’t want to waste a slot in the basket on a sea bass, so I sold it to Leila for 10 bells.

Leila: YAY! Thanks, fwiend! T'at was fun! Let's pway supermarket again sometime!I made a stop at Re-Tail to sell some of my catches, and another stop at the museum to donate the blue marlin. And then I ended my day in Forest. I’ll be back tomorrow with another update, so I hope to see you then!

Happy Memorial Day for those of you in the U.S.!

Waking Up on the Island

Late last night, I visited the island. But I closed the 3DS (putting it into sleep mode) and forgot about it. Today, I opened the 3DS and my character was still there on the island. After collecting a bunch of fruit, I returned to Forest on Kapp’n’s boat. But after he sang his song, I didn’t arrive at the dock–I came out of my house (after the game showed a brief message about the new day starting)! That was sure unexpected!

Pelon1071 reminded me in the comments yesterday that you can hang KK songs on your wall to view the album covers. So I went inside my house to give it a try.

Hanging an album cover on the wall.Unfortunately, you can’t play the music this way though. Anyway, I found three fossils for the day (and the daily money rock) and then made my way to Main Street. I bought my two fortune cookies, although I forgot to eat them. I had to go back down to the dock to recover my island goodies from the basket, and that’s when I realized I had cookies in my pockets. Not for long!

Fortune: An itchy nose is worth the sacrifice for a glorious upper lip. (#45)That fortune turned out to be good for a big bro’s mustache when I returned to T&T Mart.

Timmy: Ah, congratulations! The prize for Number 45 is great--a big bro's mustache! The other fortune was good for a block floor, which I immediately put in my house. It looks so much better than the ramshackle floor.

The block floor on display in my house.Unfortunately, it was too late in the day to get another emotion from Shrunk. So I just did some fishing and then wrapped up my night in Forest.

Zelda Masks & Traditional KK

I got a letter in the mail from Aurora today. She thanked me for visiting her house yesterday and she sent me a washer/dryer. And while making my daily rounds today, I found four fossils…nice. Three of them were ones the museum needed, so I donated those and sold the other one.

I stopped in the Dream Suite, and Luna told me that 79 people have now visited my town in their dreams.

Luna: Records state the number of clients who have experience a dream about Forest is 79.I hope all these people weren’t expecting a whole lot, because my town still doesn’t have a lot going on just yet! But I did finally pick up the two pitfall seeds I had left on the ground outside my house though. Then I updated my dream, and once again, I got 5,000 bells for doing it!

I then headed next door to Club LOL. I gave Shrunk three peaches again, and he taught me the agreement emotion.

Shrunk: My old teacher's Agreement Joke is sure to CURE what ails you!Agreement was also a rare Frillard emotion in City Folk. In fact, I’ve been trying to get it for years! So this seems to back up my theory that you get “rare” emotions if you give him three fruits in a basket instead of just one fruit. Update: Apparently, it was just a coincidence. New Leaf doesn’t have “rare” emotions in the same way that City Folk did.

Next, I went into T&T Mart. It must have been my lucky Zelda day, because my two fortune cookies earned me Majora’s Mask and Midna’s Mask! Me wearing Majora's Mask in New Leaf.

Me wearing Midna's mask. After a quick stop at the Able Sisters, I headed back to town. It was only a little after 4:00 p.m., but Fuchsia commented about it being dark outside. It was sunny and bright out, so I don’t know what she’s thinking.

Fuchsia, in broad daylight: Yo, Jeff! It's dark out, so watch yourself! Uh-huh!After we talked, I saw her water some flowers! That’s pretty cool!

Pashmina walks away after watering some flowers.Aurora asked me to catch an orchid mantis for her. I actually hadn’t even caught one for the museum yet, so that meant I had to catch two of them. I remembered from City Folk that they hang out on white flowers, so I kept returning to the only white flower I saw. It actually didn’t take me too long to catch the two bugs. I gave one of them to Aurora, and she thanked me by giving me a common bed.

Aurora: It's a common bed.I took a break from playing at the time, but I returned after 8:00. Saturday is traditional K.K. night. Instead of being a DJ in the club, K.K. whips out his old acoustic guitar and sings one of his songs like he has done in previous games. I didn’t get a choice of songs this time, he just performed K.K. Flamenco for me. Shrunk was dancing in the background.

K.K.: Enough tuning--let's groove. This next one is for you, Jeff. It's called K.K. Flamenco. The game credits roll as K.K. Slider performs a song for me.K.K. Slider performs as I look on. Shrunk dances in the background. When he was done, he gave me a copy of the song to play at home. Unfortunately, I don’t think I have a stereo to play it on just yet. I’ll have to keep an eye open for one.

And that wraps up my day in Forest. I am tempted to go to the island later on tonight, but I probably won’t update the blog again tonight unless something noteworthy happens. But I will be back for another update tomorrow, so I hope to see you then!
