The One That Got Away

As of yesterday, the snow has all melted and spring is here (unofficially). I promptly went to Able Sisters to change my path from the blue icy bricks back to my usual green bricks.

Green grass and green bricks mark their return.

When I ran into Rolf, he reminded me that I didn’t get the petition signatures in time. (Thanks.) So he told me to go ahead and throw away the paper.

Rolf: I don't need the signature sheet anymore, so you can throw it away!

Cube was apparently enjoying the rain, because he said he wanted to splash me!

Cube: I totally want to splash you. You're cool with that, right, muscles?

Mira asked me for an apple, so I went out and picked one for her. She loved it!

Mira: This is such a good apple! I can't stop yelling!

She rewarded me with a bucket from her bucket stash. 🪣

Mira: Heh heh... This is from my secret bucket stash. You earned it, dude!

Inkwell asked me for some furniture, and I briefly considered giving him the bucket. But I decided I should try to find something a bit nicer than a bucket for him. 😆 So I bought a swinging bench from Harv at the campground.

Harvey: Ah! So you're interested in my swinging bench...

I took it over to Inkwell, and he loved it so much that he gave me his picture! After three and a half years, I finally earned it!

Inkwell: This Inkwell's pic ought to work for you, muscles! Thanks a bunch for your help!

I took it home and put it on display. His favorite quote is “There’s a sucker born every minute.”

Inkwell's pic in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

With that finally done, I decided to play the last level of Desert Island Escape. It seemed like a really big level, but I was making good progress. And then…it happened. The game froze. I try jiggling the controls, but nothing happened. After about five seconds of nothing, the game crashed. Not just Desert Island Escape, but New Leaf. My 3DS said it had to restart the whole system!

Of course, the worst part is that I didn’t save my game before starting Desert Island Escape. So I don’t have Inkwell’s pic any more!!! 😧

I re-bought the swinging bench, just in case it might work again. But I couldn’t get Inkwell to ask me for more furniture yet. Eventually, I gave Desert Island Escape another try, and I completed the final level. But that wasn’t much consolation after losing something I’ve been trying to get for 3.5 years. 😖

Today, Nintendo sent me a letter congratulating me on completing the advanced levels in Desert Island Escape, and another for completing all levels. Attached to the letters, I found an amiibo shelf and a good-luck charm. Even though the good-luck charm is a wall-mounted furniture item, it can be shown off like a fish or bug.

I pestered Inkwell again today, trying to get him to ask me for another favor. But no luck.

Anyway, I’m going to try to have one final Friday Night Forest before online play ends in April. It will likely be that first Friday in April, but check back in March for any final confirmation (or changes, if necessary). Update: It will probably be on March 29th.

According to Luna, my recent dream visitors were Max from Ezo and Maggie from Nimbus. Thanks for stopping by!

Chocolate Month

For Valentine’s Day on Wednesday, Isabelle sent me a chocolate cake in the mail. Molly sent me a valentine with a chocolate heart, and Mom sent me a cacao tree. I ate the cake and the chocolate, and then sold the tree. 😛

Blushing after eating my chocolates.

Over at the Roost, I remembered to stop in to get my other holiday treat: a cup of hot chocolate from Brewster. Yum! Happy Valentine’s Day!

Me, at the Roost: This must be... hot chocolate!

I had a few snowflakes taking up spots in my pockets, so I built myself a Snowmam so that I could cash them in for some nice ice furniture.

Snowmam: This balance... I'm perfect!

Last night, the hole to the Resetti Center was open…so I dropped in for a visit. But Resetti did not seem very happy to see me.

Resetti: Don't hang around forever. Go on and get outta here!
And this was when I first arrived!

Chester the panda cub was camping at the campsite, so I went in his igloo to say hello.

Chester: Camping in the winter gets pretty chilly... But the cold just makes the fire feel even nicer.

I found a lost item on the ground, and I returned it to its owner, Cube. He rewarded me with a rubber apron…which I then strangled him with.

Cube: Here. Please take a rubber apron for your trouble, on Toy Day!
Give me your photo, d-d-dude!

While talking to Rolf tonight, I accidentally accepted his request for signature petitions. Oops. He’s not going to be happy about that next time.

I completed the 9th “advanced” level in Desert Island Escape, so I only have one more to go!

According to Luna, Angie from Moss was my most recent dream visitor. Thanks for stopping by!

Cliff Fishing

On January 3rd, I found Lolly fishing from the top of the cliff in the northeast part of town (near the zen bell).

Lolly: I think I'm ready to reel in a big one!

Usually when I see villagers fishing from a cliff (which isn’t often), it’s typically in the southwest corner of town. I saw Cube fishing from there last August. But after searching through this blog, I found no other instances of any villager fishing at the northeast cliff, where Lolly was fishing this time! That doesn’t mean it was the first time it happened necessarily, but it’s certainly quite rare.

On January 13th, Rolf asked me to dig up his time capsule. So I did.

Look! I dug up a time cap

I took it back to him, and he found a natty shirt inside. He thinks he just grabbed a random item from around his house to throw in there. 😛

Rolf: I think I grabbed something that was just lying around the house and put it into the capsule. GAHAHA!

So of course, he gave me the natty shirt. Just what I never wanted. Thanks, Rolf.

Rolf: I'll give this to you as a thank-you. So here ya go--one recently dug gift: a natty shirt!

Last Wednesday, Ava the chicken was camping at the campsite. So I stopped inside her igloo to say hello.

Ava: Oh, hello! I heard a rumor that this was a lovely town to camp in, so here I am. It's nice to meet you!

Last night, I had another camper. I stopped to take this photo of the igloo under the northern lights and a nearly-full moon.

An igloo sits under the northern lights and a nearly full moon.

Curly the pig was camping inside, trying to keep his bacon warm. 😉

Curly, camping in an igloo: Hey! Do you think it's OK if I camp here for a while?

Today is Cube’s birthday, so I bought a wooden counter at Harv’s campground for him. Unfortunately, Cube didn’t seem thrilled with the gift.

Cube: It's not something I would've thought to buy for myself...

But he still seemed to be having a good time. And his penguin buddy Aurora was also at the party.

Aurora: I'm glad you came to celebrate with us! When it comes to parties, it's certainly the more the merrier.

Happy birthday, Cube!

One other quick note: My savings balance reached 128 million bells recently.

According to Luna, my recent dream visitors include Teren from DalyCity again, and Jamie from Oakridge. Thanks for stopping by! And Never Stop Crossing!
