I went back to Skyloft and did some shopping. I upgraded some of my equipment, bought potions, and just prepared for the next part of my journey. When I was done, I went down to Faron Woods. I didn’t go straight to the Sealed Temple. I did a little bug-catching and exploration for a bit. But then I did go inside the temple and saw Groose there.
He put up rails around the Sealed Grounds so that a cart could move around the top of the large circular crater-type hole. The old woman then told me it was time to strike the Gate of Time with a Skyward Strike. (Skyward Strike is the official name for what I usually call a charged-up sword attack). But just as I charged up my sword, the ground shook and that large beast I sealed up had broken free once again.
We ran outside and Groose told me more about his track. It is used to toss bombs at the beast to stun him. He called it the Groosenator. But he said it wasn’t quite ready yet, so I had to go down the crater and fight the beast by myself at first. If you remember, this is the huge enemy with the vulnerable toes. So I got out my toenail clippers sword and started attacking the beast.
He’s more difficult this time, because he shoots out waves of electricity with every step he takes. That makes it hard to get to his little piggies toes. I did the best I could, until the beast started to climb up the crater! Not good. But that’s when Groose told me his weapon was ready. By pressing up on the control pad, I could switch to him and shoot a bomb at the beast.
Hitting him with the bomb stunned him, allowing Link to beat up on his toes. When his toes give out, the creature falls backward and Link has to drive the spike on his head back into his head. The whole process had to be repeated a few times, and then I, once again, sealed the beast back into the ground.
I made my way back up to the top and went inside the Sealed Temple. I had to try again to strike the Gate of Time. As I stepped onto the pedestal, a sound effect signaled that Smurf-Fi had an important message for me:
My batteries were low. I hate when games have to announce it to you, especially when it interrupts the flow of the game. So I swapped out batteries and continued. I struck the gate and it came to life. This began what is essentially a long cinema/story scene.
Walking through the Gate of Time took me far into the past. But Zelda and Impa were there waiting for me. They had a lot of explaining to do.
They told me a lot about what was really going on. This included one shocking revelation (wow) that I won’t spoil here and an emotional moment. My Master Sword was upgraded again and is now in its “ultimate form,” whatever that means. I went back through the gate to the present day. To make a long story short, I now need the Triforce. The old woman said it is thought to be hidden in Skyloft, so I had to go back there for clues. Groose said he was going to stay on the surface to protect the old woman and the temple.
In Skyloft, I found out that my best lead was Levias, who was in the thunderhead near the Isle of Songs. But he is apparently possessed by something, and I need a special move for my bird to knock some sense into Levias. But before I can use it, I had to undergo some training. After a couple tries, I passed the test and I’m ready to go see Levias…but that will have to wait until next time. I saved my game and quit for the night.
