Hello, and welcome to my Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Blog! I'm Jeff and here you can follow along with my adventures in the game. Unlike other Animal Crossing games, Happy Home Designer does not run in real-time. So each blog entry will usually cover multiple "game days." If you'd like, you can start from the beginning or just jump right in! Or read my review.
Day 61
After not seeing any particularly interesting theme suggestions from the animals out on Main Street, I decided to try calling Isabelle. I don't have an Amiibo card for her, but I do have her Amiibo figure (which came with Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival). It worked just fine, and Isabelle came over to the office to discuss things.
Unfortunately, she didn't have a theme in mind; she left it completely up to me. Alright, I'll have to see what I can come up with.
I picked a location on the river, where she'll have her own bridge and waterfall. I also gave her a fancy golden mansion! She deserves it; she's a good dog.
At first, I considered giving her dog items. But when I saw the doghouse hasn't been unlocked yet, I decided to turn her house into town hall (from New Leaf). I quickly realized I should have used a deeper room layout, since there isn't enough vertical space to do the town hall justice. But I didn't want to cancel out and start all over, so I just did the best I could. I really wish there was a way to change the layout choice after you've begun decorating. Sometimes you don't know how much room you need until you get going. But this is how Isabelle's town hall currently looks:
The only furniture unlocked for this project, other than Isabelle's picture, was a scooter! I didn't use it this time, but it is nice to have for future projects. Especially for anything that needs a parking lot.
After watching the montage, Isabelle taught me a new emotion: Lottie's "All Set!" pose. I uploaded town hall to the Happy Home Network, and you can visit it by entering project code 0692-7739-082.
Day 62
Again, none of the themes really interested me today. But I decided to go on and pick one anyway. Fuchsia wanted a home where she could relive the rebellious days of her youth. And just like in New Leaf, she called me girlfriend.
That's a pretty rude thing to say to a guy. Not the way to get on my good side. So I put her home in the middle of the desert, surrounded by a bunch of small ponds. Maybe she'll fall into some of them. I didn't really add much out here, other than a couple of round cacti. I then dropped her into a pond and found out that she can't swim. Just kidding.
Inside, she insisted on a jukebox and billiard table. A kitschy clock was unlocked for this project, so I included that as well. A pinball machine, arcade machine, and crane game were added to give her even more entertainment. And I finished the room off with a table and a few stools.
When I was all finished, Fuchsia taught me the "complete" emotion. The project code for Fuchsia's home is 0101-7739-912.
Jeff, this is a question (linked to Anna's comment) did you play Animal crossing amiibo festival by yourself or with friends?

After finishing a client's home, you can visit them via client book (make sure you haven't done any other projects that day) and when you talk to them they give you the option to either give them a completely new house or just redesign the furniture layout. If you choose the former, you'll be able to make Isabelle's home deeper.
Also, I think you've unlocked every emotion.

Before you tear into it like everyone else has, let me tell you something mister. Amiibo Festival isn't a horrible $60 game, because it's not even a $60 game, it's a $35 game with 2 amiibos roughly $25. I think this game is absolutely the best, and you're going to give it low scores like you did this, because YOU don't like it, but you don't speak for everyone, you certainly don't speak for me, I'd give Happy Home a 9, and amiibo Festival an 8!
Have a nice day. :)

@Anna: Amiibo Festival is a $60 game--there isn't an option to buy it separately (and an Amiibo is required anyway). But I base my reviews on how fun a game is to play, not the price. I never claimed to speak for everyone, but it's clear that most people are disappointed by Amiibo Festival. I will be sure to give it a fair chance and play each of its modes before writing a review and deciding on a score, but so far I'm not having fun with it.

@Jeff,
there IS a good chance both amiibo figures will be sold separately as both received child age ratings recently, so it'll probably be non-bundled. Have you tried Island escape? That's not bad. It's okay I guess, certainly a good break from the board game.

@Jeff: I'd be surprised if they sold it without at least one Amiibo, since an Amiibo is required to play it. But yeah, it's possible the price could be lowered in the future of course. I've unlocked island escape, but I haven't tried it yet. I'll probably post another entry on the gaming blog once I've given all the other modes a try.

I love the scooter that's unlocked for Isabelle. It's so cute! And I didn't know pink deer could swim?
