About Festivale
Festivale is a holiday event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in which a peacock named Pavé (a self-proclaimed dance champion) will visit your town. In this event, you can catch feathers, and trade them to Pavé for Festivale furniture. Confetti rains from the sky and your villagers will be dancing in the streets, whistling your town tune, and wearing cute outfits just for this event.
Playing a different game? I also have Festivale guides for City Folk and New Leaf.
When Is Festivale?
The exact date of Festivale will vary from year to year, but it will always be in February or March—exactly 48 days before Easter Sunday. This will also be the day before Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday). Festivale lasts the entire day (from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.). This chart shows the dates for Festivale from 2024-2032:
2024: | February 12 |
2025: | March 3 |
2026: | February 16 |
2027: | February 8 |
2028: | February 28 |
2029: | February 12 |
2030: | March 4 |
2031: | February 24 |
2032: | February 9 |
How It Works
Pavé will be located at the plaza, just outside of Resident Services. He will ask you for three feathers of the same color; they may be red, blue, green, or purple. Give them to Pavé and he will reward you with a piece of Festivale furniture of that color (after he performs a fabulous little dance, of course).
How to Obtain Feathers
The main method of collecting feathers is to use your bug net to catch them right out of the air. They will be floating around town, among the falling confetti. But unlike a snowflake, a feather won't randomly disappear if you don't catch it right away.
You can also trade feathers with villagers if you need a certain color. You can tell what color feathers a villager is looking for by the color of their shirt.
Rainbow Feathers
If you're lucky, you may find a rare rainbow feather flying around. If you catch it and give it to Pavé, he will do an extended dance and then give you a piece of Pavé furniture on the spot. You don't need three of them to trade for a (regular) item...although you may want to save them for the "ultimate reward" described below.
Rainbow feathers can also be crafted using other feathers; Pavé will give you the D.I.Y. recipe, but it requires one red feather, one blue feather, one green feather, and one purple feather.
Besides giving rainbow feathers to Pavé (or wearing them in your hair), they have another purpose, too: You can use them to customize Festivale furniture to change it to a different color.
Ultimate Reward
After trading feathers for furniture nine times, Pavé will then demand three rainbow feathers. He says he will give you an "ultimate Festivale reward" for them. That reward is a Festivale float, which is basically an animatronic parade float. It lights up, the tail moves up and down, and its head moves from side to side.
Additional floats can be earned, but the process starts over. You must make another nine regular trades before he will offer to trade for another float.
Festivale Items at Nook's Cranny
Unlike in previous games, the Festivale furniture items (except for the float) can be purchased at the shop (Nook's Cranny) in the days leading up to Festivale. This may make them seem less special, but it does make it easier to collect them all.
Festivale Furniture
Each piece of Festivale furniture (except for the float) is available in five colors: green, red, blue, purple, and rainbow. Here is a list of the Festivale furniture, the number of rainbow feathers required for customization, and the price that the Nooklings will pay for each item.
Festivale balloon lamp | x 2 | 1,000 bells |
Festivale confetti machine | x 2 | 1,250 bells |
Festivale drum | x 1 | 525 bells |
Festivale flag | x 1 | 325 bells |
Festivale float | can't be customized | 20,000 bells |
Festivale garland | x 2 | 1,000 bells |
Festivale lamp | x 1 | 375 bells |
Festivale parasol | x 1 | 625 bells |
Festivale stage | x 2 | 1,500 bells |
Festivale stall | x 1 | 750 bells |
Unfortunately, the furniture items aren't particularly valuable (excluding the float, which is harder to obtain). So this event is not as lucrative as it was in City Folk and New Leaf.
Festivale Clothing
In the days leading up to Festivale, some Festivale clothing items will be available at Able Sisters. This includes the Festivale costume, Festivale tank dress, and the Festivale accessory. Each one is available in four colors: red, blue, green, and purple. Of course, wearing the Festivale clothing is completely optional.
Festivale Reactions
A set of four exclusive Festivale reactions can be purchased from the cabinet at Nook's Cranny. The reactions are Confetti, Viva, Let's Go, and Feelin' It. The reaction set costs 19,800 bells, and it can only be purchased once.
It's a Stretch
Here's a fun little bonus: If you start a group stretching session on Festivale, Pavé will actually join in and stretch with your other villagers and special characters! A dance champion like him should have no problem doing some simple stretches...right?
How does the event differ from previous Animal Crossing games?
In New Horizons, villagers don't play mini-games with you like they did in City Folk and New Leaf. Those games had Pavé furniture instead of Festivale furniture. And in City Folk, you collected candy for Pavé instead of feathers.Good luck, and Viva Festivale! If you're interested, check out my Festivale video.
