Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Blog

Hello, and welcome to my Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Blog! I'm Jeff and here you can follow along with my adventures in the game. Unlike other Animal Crossing games, Happy Home Designer does not run in real-time. So each blog entry will usually cover multiple "game days." If you'd like, you can start from the beginning or just jump right in!

Day 19

I decided to tackle another one of Isabelle's public facilities today--the restaurant. It will have two rooms, a dining area and a kitchen.

Several new wallpapers and carpets were unlocked for this project: Three wallpapers, two rugs, and five carpets in fact! However, I chose not to use any of the new ones for the dining area. Instead, I used the cafe-curtain wall and the panel carpet floor. I put in two large tables and two smaller tables, along with a salad bar and the counter.

Also, here is a picture of the restaurant exterior:

Back in the kitchen, I used the new white tile wall and white tile floor. Of course the kitchen includes a sink, an oven, a refrigerator, and counters where the food is being prepared. I used the customize feature to change one of the stewpots so that it contained curry. The code to visit my restaurant is 0007-7794-443.

At the office, I took the ancient fossils lesson from the handbook. I can now use 20 large, multi-piece fossils, ten smaller single-piece fossils, and 20 miniature fossils when I design future homes.

Day 20

Cole the rabbit was out on Main Street, wanting to live in a tropical paradise. So of course, I picked out a home on the beach for him. I added some palm trees, a couple of chairs to sit at his beach table, and some seashells in the sand.

Inside, the newly-unlocked cabana furniture set is a perfect fit. I put a diving mask and a coconut on the table, and I also used beach sounds as the sound scenery. You can hear the ocean waves! Very relaxing.

When I was done, I learned the consent emotion. From a rabbit. I uploaded Cole's home to the Happy Home Network. If you'd like to visit it, the code is 0908-7799-343.

I finished up with the handbook lesson for gyroids. As you'd expect, it unlocks all types of gyroids (131 in total), including the Brewstoids.

See you all next time! And good luck with all of your designs!

I really liked the restaurant! I wish I had an 3DSXL....

Having played this game every day since the release, I just last night learned sort of accidentally that you can adjust the position of the villager's house on the plot of land. For some reason, all this time I've assumed it was something that couldn't be done, so I'd never even tried! Thats what I get for assumin'. I can always go back and remodel if I want to. But they've actually all come out pretty good. I'm enjoying your posts!

There seems to be loads of public buildings, does that mean they're going to run out quickly? Surely Nintendo can't create hundreds of them to allow people to play for years? Aren't people going to get bored when the public buildings run out?

Jeff (mod) · Oct 6, 2015

@Beth: After all the public buildings are done, you can keep working on villagers' homes. But yeah, I don't think Happy Home Designer will keep most people entertained for months/years like New Leaf does. And even with the villagers, I'm seeing repeated requests already. (Another villager I saw on Main Street was asking for a pirate themed house).
