Disney Magical World Blog

Nintendo has provided me with an advance copy of Disney Magical World, which is now available for Nintendo 3DS. It has some gameplay similarities to Animal Crossing, while also featuring over 60 Disney characters. I'll be writing about the game and providing regular updates as I progress through the game. Want to start from the beginning?

Day 20: Snow White

Kizlit sent me a picture she took of my character in her town. My phrase "Stay coo!" was kind of based on Brewster, who runs the cafe in Animal Crossing. Thanks for the pic, Kizlit!

It's-a-me!
After doing a favor for Goofy and getting a trading card from him, I was able to take a commemorative photo with him. Mickey and Donald also got in on the pic.

A Goofy picture.
I continued on to the Magic Dungeon. After clearing the second floor, I got a recipe for a secret pink wand. I then broke the 70-sticker seal and went down to the third level. This room was different: Instead of enemies, it just had a bunch of sparkly things on the ground. Usually these indicate buried items that you can scoop up. But many of them here turned into enemies when you tried to dig them up. Still, you only have to fight one enemy at a time, so this room is much easier than the first two. Upon clearing this room, I got a recipe for a secret crystal wand. However, once again, my progress is blocked. I need 75 stickers to go down to the fourth floor. This is getting ridiculous.

I went on a new action quest in Aladdin's world, and it was filled with fire and lava traps that I had to deal with.

Maybe I shouldn't have worn sandals.
After completing it, I decided to go to the dreaded Masked Ball I had been putting off for ages. I seemed to be doing well, and I was completely shocked to find that I cleared it on my first try! I struggled mightily with the previous Moonlight Ball, so I expected to have just as much trouble (if not more) with this one. I'm so glad and relieved!

I couldn't bear to look.

The chancellor rewarded me with a fancy ballroom mask recipe. But since I cleared that stage so fast, I decided to give the two-star version of it a try as well. I messed up once, but I cleared it on the first try also!

Anyway, I was on a roll, so I went ahead and tried the three-star version. It took me three tries, but I cleared it! This earned me a sticker (my 71st) for clearing a three-star ball. At this point, I was on fire. So I went back and tried the harder versions of the Moonlight Ball too. It took a few tries, but I cleared it on the two- and three-star ratings too. Maybe these dances aren't as tough as I previously thought. Perhaps I just wasn't feeling the rhythm that day. At any rate, I'm glad to have these two balls behind me.

After some item hunting, I was able to acquire the items I needed for a Snow White themed cafe set. This allowed me to fulfill a cafe request I've had for quite a while now. So I decorated the cafe and held a party. Snow White and two dwarves showed up! Taking a commemorative photo with them earned me a sticker. My owner level also increased to level 14.

Would she be offended if I offered her an apple?
My manager's next main request (make 12 varieties of sweets) was something I had already accomplished, so I completed that task as soon as I accepted it. My owner level then went up to level 15.

Today is May 1st, and with the new month comes new DLC! Here's a list of the new items for May, along with the cost:

Here's a look at the free Casual Pooh T-Shirt:

Casual Pooh. Is there any other kind?
As for the other stuff... I'm generally not a fan of paid DLC and I almost never buy any. And the magic wands for $1.00 seem like a waste of money. They have a power rating of just 1,000, which is considerably less than the 1,800 rated wands I'm using now or the secret wands, which are rated 2,000. So I don't see the appeal to those at all.

However, the Pirate's World DLC seems to offer a lot of content. Right now I'm focused on collecting the 100 stickers already in the game. But I may consider purchasing the Pirate's World DLC pack at some point in the future. If I do, I'll be sure to cover it in this blog.

Just one other note. I've seen people asking how long Easter decorations stay up, since Easter was weeks ago. Unfortunately, I've seen characters in the game say that the Easter season in the game doesn't end until June 30th. That seems ridiculous, but apparently they treat all of spring as Easter. That's all I have for now, but I'll see you next time!
