What is Festivale?
Festivale is a holiday event in Animal Crossing: City Folk in which a dancing peacock named Pavé will visit your town. In this event, you can earn candy by playing mini-games with villagers, and trade the candy to Pavé for exclusive furniture.Playing a different game? I also have Festivale Guides for New Horizons and New Leaf.
When Is Festivale?
The exact date of Festivale will vary from year to year, but it will always be in February or March—exactly 48 days before Easter Sunday. This will also be the day before Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday). Festivale lasts the entire day (from 6 a.m. to 6 a.m.). This chart shows the dates for Festivale from 2023-2031:2023: | February 20 |
2024: | February 12 |
2025: | March 3 |
2026: | February 16 |
2027: | February 8 |

How It Works
Pavé will be located in front of town hall. He will ask you for candy of a certain color: red, blue, green, or yellow. Give Pavé three candy pieces of the requested color and he will reward you with a piece of Pavé furniture.Playing Mini-Games to Obtain Candy
By playing games of chance with outdoor villagers, you can earn candy. But these games are a gamble. If you lose, you'll be forced to give up a piece of your own candy (if you're carrying any), or you'll lose 500 bells. Tip: Leave your candy on the ground or attached to letters when playing mini-games, to avoid losing any hard-earned candy. The mini-games take several forms:
- Coin Toss / Heads or Tails - Guess correctly three times in a row to win.
- Psychic Test - Guess which shape and which fruit the villager is thinking of to win.
- Rock, Paper, Scissors - Guess the right option that will defeat your opponent. Rock crushes scissors, scissors cut paper, and paper covers rock. Win two out of three rounds to win the match.
- Soccer - By guessing left or right, you try to block your opponent's kick, and then try score a goal. Villagers enjoy commentating the match, so this one has a lot of dialogue. It is also generally the most time-consuming of the mini-games, although admittedly it does have a unique feel.
- Which Hand? - Guess which of the villager's hands has candy in it. Guess correctly twice in a row to win a piece of candy.
The Coin Toss and Psychic Test may be the hardest games to win, so they yield a better reward. Instead of a random piece of candy, you can choose which color you want. Very helpful!
Dress For Success
If you wear an acceptable costume (a matching set of a shirt and hat/accessory that forms a complete look), each outdoor villager will give you a free random piece of candy the first time you speak to them.
When buying an item at Able Sisters, Mabel will tell you if it's part of a look. There are dozens of looks available, and here are just a few examples:
- Cat: Cat cap + cat top
- Cavalier: Cavalier hat + one-way tee
- Frog: Frog cap + frog top
- Mummy: Dressing + mummy shirt
- Ninja: Ninja hood + burglar's shirt
- Red hero: Red zap helmet + red zap suit
Spoiler Alert: Candy Never Goes Bad
Candy never spoils, so you can safely use any candy you have leftover from Halloween or Bunny Day. It's a good idea to always stick any extra candy into storage for when you need it.
Pavé Furniture
There are ten furniture items, one carpet, and one wallpaper you can obtain during Festivale. Unfortunately, Pavé will give you duplicate items often, so completing the full set can take hours. Here is a list of all the items you can obtain, along with the price Tom Nook will pay for each.Pavé bed | 12,000 bells |
Pavé bookshelf | 12,000 bells |
Pavé bureau | 12,000 bells |
Pavé chair | 12,000 bells |
Pavé chest | 12,000 bells |
Pavé closet | 12,000 bells |
Pavé end table | 12,000 bells |
Pavé lamp | 12,000 bells |
Pavé sofa | 12,000 bells |

What About the Pavé Clock?
The Pavé clock was DLC (downloadable content) sent out by Nintendo in 2012. It is not considered part of the Pavé/Festivale set, even though it has the same style as the other pieces. So you don't need it to get credit for the full furniture set.
Festivale Limitations Compared to Later Games
Unfortunately, you can't trade candy to villagers for different colors like you can do (with feathers) in later games. Also, you can't save and quit to reset Pavé's current color preference like you can in New Leaf. This version of the event can be quite tedious and time-consuming, especially if you're not starting off with a lot of leftover candy.
