Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Blog

Hello, and welcome to my Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Blog! I'm Jeff and here you can follow along with my adventures in the game. Unlike other Animal Crossing games, Happy Home Designer does not run in real-time. So some blog entries will cover multiple game days. If you'd like, you can start from the beginning or just jump right in! At the bottom of the page, you'll be able to find links to all of the entries. Or read my review.

Day 100

Tank the rhinoceros was on Main Street today, and he wanted to host a board-gaming tournament at his house.

Believe it or not, I have not yet made a two-room house! So I decided to do that today. I figured that if the chess set was unlocked for this project, a chess board would take up the entire room. So a second room could be his living space.

But first, I had to decide what to do with the outdoors. I put in a few trees and also a few shogi pieces. I don't know much about the game of shogi, but apparently it's kind of like a Japanese version of chess. The shogi piece itself was originally an exclusive Gulliver item in the GameCube version of Animal Crossing. But I used a few of them in Tank's yard, and I must say, they would look good in a horror themed town since they look a bit like gravestones.

Indoors, I used the chess pieces to make a chessboard. But unfortunately, the room was 6x6 instead of 8x8, so I had to make some changes by only using one bishop, one knight, and six pawns per side. I made one set in gold and the other in black. I put up a backgammon wall, and I used a metal lattice door for the back room--it looks like a jail cell door.

Tank insisted on a board game and bingo wheel, so I put those in his back room...along with a hammock to sleep on. I turned this room into Tank's own mini-jungle with the jungle wall, jungle floor, and jungle sound scenery. I also included a few other of the new items unlocked with this project: A colorful wheel, a shogi board, and a Resetti model. Wait, what does a Resetti model have to do with board games? Unless we use him as part of a Whac-a-Mole game. Actually, that sounds like fun.
