Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Blog

Hello, and welcome to my Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Blog! I'm Jeff and here you can follow along with my adventures in the game. Unlike other Animal Crossing games, Happy Home Designer does not run in real-time. So some blog entries will cover multiple game days. If you'd like, you can start from the beginning or just jump right in! At the bottom of the page, you'll be able to find links to all of the entries. Or read my review.

Day 116

I connected to the Happy Home Network to check out the monthly challenge. The theme for November is "A bit of old, a bit of new."

Unfortunately, no new items are unlocked this time (if you've participated in previous challenges). The two required items are a luxury car (previously acquired in the February challenge) and the carriage (unlocked in April).

I decided to make the "new" part outdoors and the "old" part indoors. Outside, I use three luxury cars and several wide-screen TVs, and I gave the house an astro exterior.

Indoors, I used the rice-paddy wall and wildflower floor, along with the prairie sounds as the sound scenery. I put in some tree standees to make it look like the carriage was driving down a road.

And then I used the carriage...to run over Tom Nook. I'm sorry, I can't resist.

If you're interested in visiting the spot where Tom Nook got run over, head on over to project code 0295-5765-945. But Nintendo doesn't seem to be storing the rooms very long any more, so if you're not quick, it could be gone by the time you get there.

Just for reference though, I may not participate in future challenges if both items are duplicates of ones already released. But I haven't completely given up on regular jobs for villagers yet either, even though I haven't done any of those in quite a while. There are still items that I want to unlock, so I will be back with more (even though I have no specific schedule for this blog).

Thanks for stopping by! Looking for some new Series 4 Amiibo Cards? Remember, Amiibo Cards can also be used with New Leaf now! For more info on the recent New Leaf update, click here.

I love how simple your house designs are!! My room designs are a bit the same way. They are fun and unique yet simple at the same time. You really don't have to use too many detailed QR patterns or crowded rooms for your designs to look impressive. Sometimes, less is more :)

I didn't participate in either the Feb or April challenges, so I'll definitely be doing this one to get the items!

Is Happy Home Designer kind of in real time, I am not so sure. Back in April, Around the Cherry Blossom time in the other games, I was watching my sister play, and she was walking round outside Nooks Homes, and the trees were cherry blossomed. Are they always like this? This was the only time I actually watched her play, So I'm confused if this was because she was playing in April, or it's always blossomed there. I know it's not actually real time though.

@Crabbsie =): No, when you pick the plot of land for the house, you can click on it to change the season. The spring option often (but not always) has the falling cherry blossoms.
