Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Blog

Hello, and welcome to my Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Blog! I'm Jeff and here you can follow along with my adventures in the game. Unlike other Animal Crossing games, Happy Home Designer does not run in real-time. So some blog entries will cover multiple game days. If you'd like, you can start from the beginning or just jump right in! At the bottom of the page, you'll be able to find links to all of the entries. Or read my review.

Day 117

I haven't designed a new house for a villager in a long time, so I decided to do that today. I went out onto Main Street and found Lily the frog. She wanted a zen-like environment with moist air. I picked a spot surrounded by water, and made sure it was raining. She likes it wet. Her yard may be small, but she can always play in the river, too.

I gave her a small thatched house with a teal straw roof, cabana exterior, and a green fish door. I put in a newly-unlocked lotus pond, and some new pink hydrangeas too.

Indoors, I found that this project's required items are a humidifier, ikebana display, and a tea table. Just for reference, the other unlocked items are the drip pail, moss ball, outdoor bath, deer scare, lucky frog, bamboo-grove wall, and mossy carpet.

I put in the new wall and carpet, and I made an outdoor bath the central feature of the room. I used several of the other new items, along with a froggy chair and some cornstalks (like I used in Sly's jungle home). I also added jungle-camo curtains and jungle sounds as the sound scenery.

It's a nice relaxful place for Lily to lounge around and croak all night. If you'd like to visit (for a limited time, since Nintendo doesn't store these very long), hop on over to project code 0802-5702-943.

Day 118

I then went to check out the Happy Home Challenge for the month. The theme for December is "An attack of the snack."

The two featured items this time are the giant ant and the massive cake, both of which are repeats from previous challenges. I got the giant ant during the January challenge, but I missed out on the cake the first time around.

I put the cake on a large picnic blanket and surrounded it with giant ants. Let's say the cake was meant to be Tom Nook's, but the ants got to it first.

Indoors, I wanted to make it look like Tom Nook was trapped in a giant ant hill. I used Saharah's desert to make the ground sandy, and the western vista seemed to fit too. I used a bunch of tumbleweeds to represent the entrance to the ant hill, and I put Tom Nook right in the center. Giant ants surround him.

Let the feast begin, yes yes?
