Day 110

May is here now, so that means it's time for a new monthly challenge! I logged onto the Happy Home Network, and King Nook told me that this month's theme is "the grand outdoors."

The two new items for this project are a tent...and a mountain! Now Nook can be King of the Mountain! I think the tent looks really good (even though you can't go inside it), but the mountain just doesn't really work. Maybe if we could put them outside of the property, on the horizon, it would be more believable. But as it is, it just looks so fakey.

I tried to partially hide the mountain behind a couple of trees. For the house, I kept it simple and natural-looking: I used a brown shingle roof, a modern wood exterior, and a brown basic door. I also added a bonfire and a barbecue spit. I still have a hard time believing Tom Nook is going to camp out here. There's something about a king's robe that says "I'm not an outdoorsy guy."

My challenge entry for The Grand Outdoors.

It seems silly given the theme, but I needed to decorate the indoors as well. So I made it look like the outdoors too. I used the tent and two mountains in here, along with a campfire and some firewood. I put up a meadow vista for the wallpaper and a wildflower floor for the carpet. I also chose prairie sounds as the sound scenery.
